It would be a much bigger problem if the Borg managed to get into the sphere... Remember them? They were included in about 5 missions and a few sector block encounters? Remember how they're obsessed with omega particles which are abundant in the dyson sphere? Remember how they've had a huge armada on it's way for four years which still hasn't arrived?... No? Well I do, when someone said 'powerful new foe' and 'dyson sphere' in the same sentence as 'omega particles' I thought "BORG!"
Nope, laser-saurs and undie-wear instead. Did Cryptic take meth or something?
They just love to drop plot elements in favour of new shinies to sell

Overall, I enjoyed the mission. Though the story does have some plot holes. Spoilers below, of course.

The inclusion of the Jenolen Dyson sphere is what threw me. In TNG's Relics, Data told Picard that the sphere was abandoned and the star is highly unstable. Expelling matter and severe bursts of radiation. This explains why the inhabitants of that particular sphere abandoned it. Many of Enterprises systems were disabled - including weakened shields. The crew was at ongoing risk from continued exposure to this radiation.
Later on, Picard asks Worf if the ship's phasers could be used to cut a hole through the shell of the sphere, allowing the Enterprise to escape? However, the sphere is composed of carbon-neutronium and phasers or torpedoes would be completely ineffective.
Our mission suggests that the Deep Space Science Vessel, USS Gold, has been recently trapped inside there in a disabled state. The state of the Gold suggested that it wasn't in the best condition. Granted it's been 40 years since this sphere was discovered, would not the Golds crew have been at risk for continued exposure to the same radiation bursts as Enterprise had been? If something changed, what? I'm also befuddled about no mention of Omega in the Jenolen sphere. That does need explaining.
Also, the Undine managed to blast the same carbon-neutronium access door that the Enterprise couldn't scratch. While also plowing that same beam through the Voth shields to crack that dreadnaught like an egg. I guess that we are to believe the Undine's anti-proton beam weapons are that much more superior? How did the flagships both of the KDF and Republic withstand such firepower immediately after these events?
What of any Voth survivors of that shattered dreadnaught? My Captain - and I dare say Tuvok - would have thought to at least look for them.
8472 have always had more advanced technologies, bio ships, bio-weapons, immunity to any tech or biological foreign to the species unless specially designed.
8472 have been witnessed when several nicor's and a frigate coming together to divert power from the nicors to the frigate to blast a powerful beam at a planet full of borg and destroy it quickly. they can also destroy cubes in 1 or 2 blasts. so a carbon neutronium shell perhaps a few meters quick at the doors is probably no problem where as phasers and torpedoes would have no effect. its very possible the same issue happened.
who knows what the 8472 have or what they are thinking at the time.

the Bigger Flaw In The Fe Is: Why The Heck Does No One Respect My Authority!!!!?
Npc: The Fleet Is Going To Engage The Voth While You Go Help Tuvok.
Vice Admiral Me: What The Heck, Send The Fleet To Help Tuvok. I Can Take The Voth.
Npc: No There Are Too Many Of Them, We Are Sending The Fleet.
Vice Admiral Me: I Am A Fleet!! Havnt You Seen The Number Of Ships In My Hanger?
Npc: We Are Sending The Fleet.
Npc: We Want You To Fly Close To The Sun.
Vice Admiral Me: That's A Horrible Idea, I Am Not Doing That.
Npc: Yes You Are.
Npc: We Need To Go This Way To Avoid The Voth.
Vice Admiral Me: What The Heck? Ive Taken Down The Borg Queen, Giant Dinosaurs With Lazers And Literaly Thousands Of Npcs Look At My Damn Accolade List. Heck There Isn't A Single Enemy Alive I Cant Solo.
Npc: So We Are Going To Avoid The Voth.
Npc: We Have To Activate The Gateway.
Vice Admiral Me: That's A Damn Fool Thing To Do. Don't Do That!
Npc: I Am Doing It Any Way.
Npc: We Are Claiming This Sphere
Vice Admiral Me: Like Hell You Are.
Npc: Want To Fight?
Vice Admiral Me: Lets Do This!
Npc 2: No Don't Fight Its A Bad Idea.

Said NO to Arc. Gets punished by not being given a free outfit, free lobi, and free shuttle. Now forced to use Arc's site when trying to get to STO site. Still not rewards for beta testing the Arc website by force. Bravo Cryptic.
Well anyway, it was nice of the Solanae to leave human-sized and -shaped EV suits in their staiton--no idea how handy those turned out to be.
Eh, I mentally invoked TNG: "The Chase", so that like 99% of the galaxy's intelligent species the Solanae turned out to be carbon-based, oxygen-breathing humanoids averaging 1.8 meters. It doesn't make scientific sense but it's the handwave Paramount gave us.
The bigger plot holes are the rank thing and the Jenolan sphere teleportation. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, Cryptic: If a sphere in as bad shape as the Jenolan one was can use Omega to jump safely (same technology, I'm going to assume they used the same power source unless explicitly told otherwise in the story), why can't a sphere in as good repair as the Solanae sphere do it safely?
Or is Tuvok just talking out of his TRIBBLE about the sphere's Omega being dangerous, like everyone else in the entire Dyson storyline apparently has been since the damn thing turned up?
"Great War! / And I cannot take more! / Great tour! / I keep on marching on / I play the great score / There will be no encore / Great War! / The War to End All Wars"

Only played through it once so far. I read everything. But perhaps I missed something. Are they telling us an entire Dyson sphere has an Omega particle fueled teleportation engine that can jump an entire sphere across the galaxy? So, does the teleporter take that sphere's sun with it? Or does it unhitch itself from one sun, and then magically reappear across the galaxy around another sun? Because you know, there are so many suns that dont have their own planets, and the spheres just butt in front of those planets, cutting them off from their sun, and maybe knocking those planets loose? And if all spheres can jump, then why would the Jenolan sphere's occupants give up on that sun? Just push a button and jump across the galaxy to harvest a fresh new sun.
Its like the new Star Trek movies. I enjoy the ride the first viewing, but then I come home and read about all the plot holes and the experience is ruined because being the logical human that I am, I cant just ignore the holes. Then Orci and Kurtzman and Cryptic want to say the fan boy isnt worthy to write official content, yet they have just as many if not more holes in their stories than the rest of us.
Plot holes now realized aside, I liked the mission. My main complaint first walking out of it was the way too loose space walk controls. Even trying to finesse the rocket pack, my Captain was still overshooting his targets and getting wedged up into the environment's nooks and crannies.
STO: @AGNT009 Since Dec 2010

Well anyway, it was nice of the Solanae to leave human-sized and -shaped EV suits in their staiton--no idea how handy those turned out to be.
Smart materials? Nano adaptive technology? Techno bubble etc pp?
For at least the hand parts of a true Solanae space suit would have to look different (they have three fingers, haven't they?).
So I guess the suit adapted to its new users.
I just realized something else: Cryptic just validated what I've been saying about the Dyson Battlezone's story justification for two months straight. The Dyson spheres' Omega molecules are perfectly safe. If a sphere in as bad shape as the Jenolan one can use them safely, so can the Solanae sphere which is in much better repair.
And therefore, the deaths of those thousands upon thousands of Voth and KDF, Starfleet, and RRF soldiers were completely pointless.

Speaking of which, where the hell was Shon when the other two flagships turned up? (I assume klinks and pointy-ears were likewise missing Koren and Jarok, respectively.)
I had the Enterprise respond at least a few times and it sounded like Shon saying, "Need some help?"
Perhaps I was not paying enough attention........but where does the infiltrator Undine go after he reveals himself. I am assuming with a Voth dreadnought on our port side, we still had shields up. Also, it did not appear that we killed him. The other Undine ships were not there yet......hmmm where did he go???

Once I realized that it handled almost exactly like the lowest-tier Risian jetpack, I was all over the map. I do wish there was some sort of timer, though, to enforce the "you are flying over a star" detail.

That one's easy to justify. He used a transporter off-screen after decking Tuvok and beamed through the hole to one of the dreadnoughts. But, yeah, it's another mini-plot hole.

after several playthroughs on several factions i noticed something about the end fight against the undine.
1. KDF will always have the rom and Fed captains arrive to help them (BOrtas doesnt show up)
2. Feds will have rom and Klingon captain show up, but the enterprise doesnt.
3. roms will have the rom captain, and the captain opposite your alliance show up.
so only 2 of the three captains ever dhow up, but will always have all three factions represented via the ally system when you count the player.
Eh, I mentally invoked TNG: "The Chase", so that like 99% of the galaxy's intelligent species the Solanae turned out to be carbon-based, oxygen-breathing humanoids averaging 1.8 meters.
The solanogen-based lifeform was a humanoid species whose molecular structure is based on solanogen, a substance that is only stable in subspace. They originated from a tertiary subspace manifold, and could not survive unassisted in normal space. Physically, they were characterized by bulbous eyes, beaks, and clawed, three-fingered hands. Most of their bodies were hidden by hooded metallic robes. Their language consisted of a series of rapid clicks.
He used a transporter off-screen after decking Tuvok and beamed through the hole to one of the dreadnoughts. But, yeah, it's another mini-plot hole.
Which reminds me of yet another plot hole
How does your party get from the station to the Solanae ship? Beamed up, amirite?
But as we learned from the Undine that was substituting for the Vulcan ambassador in the Diplomatic Immunity fed mission, Undine cant use transporters because they will be detected
I guess the Undine have massed a large force in the Delta Quadrant in the last 20 years.
Yeah, otherwise it makes little sense - they have to use their singularities anyway to get from Fluid Space to us.
Maybe the theory has merit that they can actually now be "sneakier" about how they get to us - quantum singularity somewhere in the Delta Quadrant, and then fly through the uncontrolled, chaotic gateways and impersonate Fed, KDF or Rom ships. Normally they are more likely to meet a ship in open space where it can detect them early and start broadcasting emergency messages...
Yeah, that doesn't really work for me.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I guess the Undine have massed a large force in the Delta Quadrant in the last 20 years.
they didnt need to amass any force for 20 years. all they needed was a plan and leave for the sphere through rifts when the time is right for an invasion. these 8472 can call on a rift from anywhere in fluidic space to the delta quadrant. 8472 probably dont think in such small terms like this. besides the chances of being detected are significantly higher when mustering forces like that.
Perhaps I was not paying enough attention........but where does the infiltrator Undine go after he reveals himself. I am assuming with a Voth dreadnought on our port side, we still had shields up. Also, it did not appear that we killed him. The other Undine ships were not there yet......hmmm where did he go???
easy one, all the infiltrator needed was to knock out tuvok, and because 8472 are very telepathic, all this infiltrator needed was to call his friends outside the sphere to pick him up. its also just as possible that this infiltrator had another form and changed to it off screen and no one is the wiser.
How does your party get from the station to the Solanae ship? Beamed up, amirite?
But as we learned from the Iconian that was substituting for the Vulcan ambassador in the first Fed mission, Iconians cant use transporters because they will be detected
i assume your going on about SoI? maybe you missed the part about gateways...
since the only time you get to directly meet an iconian in any form is above iconia and in the burgus system through their ships and gateways. why would they need transporters? thats why they have thousands of these gateways, most can teleport to areas that dont have a gateway. a more advanced form of transporter...

Also why doesn't the U.S.S. Gold mention Omega particles? You figure a Fed ship would have went into alert as soon as they were detected.
Forget the Gold. Why didn't the Federation detect Omega particles while they were studying the sphere for 40 years? Voyager detected it 1.2 light years out. The Fed researchers probably had less distance inside the sphere.

Probably because the Jenolan Sphere wasn't making them. Its not even built by the same people as the Solanae Sphere, but apparently is connected to the Iconians by the presence of a Space Gate. It could be as simple as the Iconians found it and retrofitted it to be on par with the Solanae Sphere as a fallback position, or it was built by a seperate Servitor species under the Iconians. Either way, it doesn't produce Omega.
As to the Undine having access to the Alpha Quadrant... if they take full control of the Jenolan sphere, they'd be able to launch attacks on the Solanae sphere. If they get control of the Solanae sphere, oh look... open Gateway to Jouret System. Although in my opinion... it doesn't make sense as the Undine can just open rifts in the Alpha Quadrant the same way they can into the Delta Quadrant, and there wouldn't be anything Starfleet or anyone else can do to stop them. If Solanae gets compromised... just disable the Jouret gate. Even the Romulan Republic can't allow the Undine a foothold like that.
Also... anyone notice how Koren suddenly became miss "TRIBBLE this alliance even though we have bigger problems"? I can understand Shon's reaction, based on the fact the Jenolan sphere WAS under Federation jurisdiction, but Koren, who was rather reasonable during Sphere of Influence, practically flew off the handle in this one. At least Commander Jarok also saw how pointless fighting would be. Not knowing the Jenolan sphere was already known to Starfleet, Jarok was willing to help set up Joint Command operations in the Jenolan sphere as well. And since Joint Command is spearheaded by the Republic, it made sense for her to do that.
Ok here's one I caught the second we got into it....did we essentially send the gold off to die?
Didn't our ships need to have special modules attatched to the shield systems to prevent dying since they are quite literally a few KM from the surface of the sun?
also the Undine Cannot use transporters bit, that right there should have been our ticket to solving the problems each of the factions have, let section 31 make a special site to site transporter that allows them to beam every high member of the factions then beam them back to determine if they are who they say they are....at the very least have a random ship selected by a probability system beam every member of the high ranks up then down again to determine who is Undine.

Unfortunately Star Trek has a habit of ignoring perfectly logical solutions and technological applications when they get in the way of the plot-mandated idiocy of the week. For example, with maybe three exceptions (DS9: "Our Man Bashir", "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang", VOY: "Heroes and Demons"), every single holodeck malfunction plot ever written could've been resolved in about thirty seconds by physically disconnecting the EPS conduits powering the stupid thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in the FIRST Holodeck malfunction episode didn't they say they COULDN'T do that because the system would freak out and probably kill the people inside. Because at least some of the holograms arent holograms but replicated things (namely food & water).

So somebody has to go in there afterwards with a mop and bucket. Beats losing crew to the fact that Starfleet has never heard of OSHA.
I'm ignoring the "system freaking out" bit because that's more BS. A computerized system needs power to function. Therefore, if that power is removed, the system immediately ceases to operate. Problem solved.
Oh, that reminds me. During the FE my first officer said something about having to pull power from the holodecks to reinforce failing systems. What the **** are people doing in the holodecks when the ship is at battle stations?
