So somebody has to go in there afterwards with a mop and bucket. Beats losing crew to the fact that Starfleet has never heard of OSHA.
I'm ignoring the "system freaking out" bit because that's more BS. A computerized system needs power to function. Therefore, if that power is removed, the system immediately ceases to operate. Problem solved.
Oh, that reminds me. During the FE my first officer said something about having to pull power from the holodecks to reinforce failing systems. What the **** are people doing in the holodecks when the ship is at battle stations?
I assume that even when they're turned off, they're still using a trickle of power? Mayhaps the Holodeck also meant any photon-based systems like EMH emmiters or maybe replicators?
The inclusion of the Jenolen Dyson sphere is what threw me. In TNG's Relics, Data told Picard that the sphere was abandoned and the star is highly unstable. Expelling matter and severe bursts of radiation. This explains why the inhabitants of that particular sphere abandoned it. Many of Enterprises systems were disabled - including weakened shields. The crew was at ongoing risk from continued exposure to this radiation.
Later on, Picard asks Worf if the ship's phasers could be used to cut a hole through the shell of the sphere, allowing the Enterprise to escape? However, the sphere is composed of carbon-neutronium and phasers or torpedoes would be completely ineffective.
It wasn't the unstable star in the Jenolan Sphere which damaged the Enterprise-D. It was the tractor beams which pulled them inside. It knocked out main and auxiliary power, impulse and warp drive. The only propulsion system they had are thrusters at 30% (IIRC). Thirty percent thrusters was enough to put them into a solar orbit but little else.
It says "vice admiral" in my status window, it says "vice admiral" in my character profile, it says "vice admiral" on my level bar, it says "vice admiral" in the shipyard, it says "vice admiral" in the reputation system, it says "vice admiral" when random NPCs comment on my rank. Everywhere you look, except if you look at my chest, I outrank everyone in the mission by at least two grades.
If Cryptic wants us to be vice admirals, then people in-universe need to actually treat us that way, and that means not getting ordered around by an O-6. Otherwise, they could've just left the name at captain.
Gee, no wonder all the NPCs refuse to obey you.
"Well Mister Tuvok, I think if you look at my STATUS BAR, you'll see that I outrank you!"
I'm going to march into an army base IRL and tell them my status bar says I'm president, and then conquer, I dunno . . . Canada.
"Ensign Jenkins, your monthly holodeck privileges are revoked. No Jenkins, playing A Date with Pleasure Goddess Rixx while we are 200 km from a star on a rescue mission is not a good idea."

What surprises me a little is how noone noticed that the other sphere just vanished. I mean the feds are actively studying it, and then pop its gone. Someone must have noticed. Would had made a great missions, investigate what happened to the sphere. And then later in this mission you find the answer.
How does your party get from the station to the Solanae ship? Beamed up, amirite?
But as we learned from the Undine that was substituting for the Vulcan ambassador in the Diplomatic Immunity fed mission, Undine cant use transporters because they will be detected
That mission seems like the plothole then because the STO novel makes it clear that Worf has spent the last 20 years afraid that he's an Undine even though he has used transporters in that time.
It also seems like it would be far too easy a way to rule out infiltrators. "Any Starfleet officer who doesn't agree to use a transporter right now gets relieved of their commission."
And why is a hugely important operation to the Republic like the Dyson Sphere left in the hands of a SUB-Commander? You would think the Rommies would have put a full Commander (Captain rank equivalent) on the job there. I guess it just sounded more 'Romulan-ish' (and assumes that their only true Admiral is still desparately needed on New Romulus to help D'tan).
Don't get me started on what the Republic's even doing there in the first place. What the heck are they doing spearheading a major military campaign on the other side of the galaxy when they're reliant on the Federation and Klingons to avoid being conquered outright by the RSE, Tholians, and probably that warmonger J'mpok, and their capital consists of an embassy and a collection of tents?

The tents are outside of the city. The gate next to the camp is not the gate to the embassy but the gate to the city, which the embassy is in.
Oh, that reminds me. During the FE my first officer said something about having to pull power from the holodecks to reinforce failing systems. What the **** are people doing in the holodecks when the ship is at battle stations?
Speaking for my crew, I'd have holodecks prepped as extended medical facilities for potential heavy casualties. You can create most any medical tool needed, and if your ship is equipped with an EMH, that extra doctor can function in the holodeck without a 29th century mobile emitter.
I seem to recall some conversations in one of the series that suggested captains would feed information to specialty teams to run quick holodeck scenarios to anticipate opposing strategies.
Anyone else notice that the map for the sun is named "Brown Dwarf"? Brown dwarfs aren't hot enough for nuclear fusion so even being close to the surface would not be "that hot" to affect the ships shields and equipment. Not to mention why build a Dyson Sphere around a cool star.
With any main sequence star, you've got more heat buildup to worry about than you'd probably like. Besides, we've been given the radius of the Solonae sphere, and it's way too small for the surface to be in the Goldilocks zone of a G-type yellow dwarf.
Based on the observable characteristics, I'd say it's probably an M-type red dwarf, or perhaps a cooling white dwarf.
a few things have me freaking confused.. if the u.s.s. gold went through the gate wouldn't they need the shield mod thingy to protect them from the sun? and what about the lieset and the kling ship did they just happen to warp in? or did they have the shield mods to so they can get close to the sun to use the gate? that has me confused like crasy.

I guess the engineering teams you beam over to the USS Gold are the same teams that prepped the Metaphasic Shielding for your vessel, and they will set up the same frequency modifications on the Gold?
These are the Voyages on the STO forum, the final frontier. Our continuing mission: to explore Pretentious Posts, to seek out new Overreactions and Misinformation , to boldly experience Cynicism like no man has before.......

My guess is that the star in the Solanae Dyson should be a Yellow dwarf or other main sequence type star.
There is a mention of the star having changed its spectrum and energy output due to somekind of industrial accident , in one of the reputation Cutscenes i think , So its not in the same conditions as it was when the sphere was built ( exactly how much sense this makes i am uncertain, but i doubt the story line accounts for the realistic behaviors of Stars)

When did the Gold go through a gate again?
They were inside the other Dyson sphere in the Alpha Quadrant. That Dyson Sphere and everything inside it teleported to the Delta Quadrant.
Also, the Undine managed to blast the same carbon-neutronium access door that the Enterprise couldn't scratch. While also plowing that same beam through the Voth shields to crack that dreadnaught like an egg. I guess that we are to believe the Undine's anti-proton beam weapons are that much more superior? How did the flagships both of the KDF and Republic withstand such firepower immediately after these events?
after u beam ur engineering team over to repair them they head to and through the iconian gate to the other sphere.
actually, i think they just circle infront of it. cause after i rescued the ship, it just sort of wandered around by the gate a while, then i decided to talk to the voth, it was still putzing around.

Actually, while it wasn't a mission, it was mentioned prior to this (all the way since Season 8's start, even) - after you complete Sphere of Influence, you can return to Jouret to gateway to the Sphere, or to talk to a Republic Intelligence representative. At least at one point, one of the dialogue options there off-handedly mentioned 'the disappearance of the Jenolan Sphere' as one of the weird things that happened after the Iconian Gateway Network was reactivated.
Why the need for a second sphere at all? We're already in the Delta Quadrant, couldn't they have just made this FE area a new 'zone'? I mean we haven't seen a doorway (escape exit) in any zone we've been in yet, couldn't it just be on the opposite side of the this SOLAR SYSTEM-sized thing? Maybe near where the Voth came in (since they are apparently fighting the Undine already and that attracted the Undine's attention to it?).
As much as I like the new FE, this left me scratching my head too.

Remember, the story says the Jolenae sphere was originally in Fed-controlled space. That puts it in the Alpha/Beta quadrant. Meaning the sphere builders apparently intended an escape not to the Delta Quadrant, but to the area now Fed space. I suspect we'll hear more of why this is in the "to be continued" storyline.

That was talking to the Romulan intel contact station near the TD Gateway.
The corridor between the two halves of the station has different dimensions on the space and the ground map.
In space, I parked my new Mirror Heavy Cruiser Retrofit near it. I parked opposite of the corridor structure, so my bow didn't face the station, but was looking away from it. I guess that my ship would have been roughly 450 meters long, knowing that the Constitution is around 300. The corridor was wider than my ship, I guess from space it should have been at least 500 meters. And that is not even length, that will have been much more.
On the ground map, I looked at the remains of that corridor, especially the end piece which still contains the hull. The thing cannot possibly be any wider than 40 meters. And the thing cannot possibly be any longer than 300 meters.
In short, when you move from space to ground, the central connection between the two halves of the station looses more than 90% of its volume.
Either that, or Q did something to my replicator that gives some sedation to my food.
And yes, I do know that size in this game isn't really important, but still, this is ridiculous.

I know I've done a lot for SF but....really? An Admiral? Just like that?
Rank and level shouldn't really be tied together.
I think it would be a major overhaul to change though..everything is tied to rank.

"replicators have failed" nope, i just replicated some tea.
Useless engineering team, seriously.
