What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

Patch system is bad

Twice I downloaded the patch at logout yesterday but I still have to do another patch that is horribly broken, 25 minutes now and only 21%. Your pre patch didn't work and your patch today is fubar!!!!

I just finished the new patch, and it took less then a minute to complete....

Are you sure you're not suffering from a Internet connection issue of some kind??? The 'Net Test' and 'Trace Route' network diagnostic results would provide some useful information on what the problem could be. Both are described in this thread... http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155

It worked for me , actually the pre-patch just downloads the files then when the new update goes live it uses those downloaded file + a couple new ones to apply the whole patch, in my case it patched in 2 minutes and downloaded 80 MB to complete.

I prepatched as well, but it's not using the prepatch info, its redownloading the entire patch. And the patch process is taking forever.

Hmmm, I have no issues with the patch but the game freezes after the "cryptic" load screen.

Over 13hours 25minutes so far. Patched 178 KB of 3019 MB which is what it said 13 hours 25 minutes ago. Download received is 8744.6 MB which is larger than the 3019 MB that needs to be patched. Progress on the screen is reading as 0.0%.

I had to turn my computer off yesterday after it had downloaded over 3700 MB (everything else reading the same) and all that appears to have been lost since it started from download received of 0 today.

I think my patch process is going to take a little longer than forever--especially if I stop it which I'm about to do since this process is a joke.

Have you tried using the brand new Patching Proxy option, in the Option Menu of the Launcher?

I'm having this exact same problem!
I had to uninstall Arc on sunday and when I downloaded it again, reinstalled it, and opened the STO launcher...it does nothing but this imaginary patch???
It says I have to patch anything between 6mb and 13gb but never moves past 0.0% on the patch screen?
It downloads files larger than the actual patch and still says 0.0%
It downloads about 40-60% and then just stops doing anything at all?
I've been at this for four days and haven't got anywhere, I've tried opening through Arc, opening STO directly, same result?

Did you ever get yours fixed?

Did you guys run it with Administrator rights? Else it couldn't rewrite the gamefiles.

    Nerf is OP, plz nerf
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

I'm the only Administrator account on the computer, so I'm the only one with permission to change files...so yes, I did, and it's still not working :(

A Administrator account only gives you the OPTION to run as administrator. Unless you're doing...

    <right click on launcher icon> -> <select 'Run as administrator'>

... your running as a normal User, and not as Administrator...

Ahhhh, I did not know that!
Thank you for letting me know

I am now trying an install in "run as administrator" mode *fingers crossed*

My advise would be to go into user account control settings and move the slider all the way down to never notify. UAC is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen, yes I realize some computer users are friggin morons but that is just overkill.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
    Oh Hell NO to ARC

If you're running Windows 7 or 8, you should best re-install the game to another directory outside of Program Files. Even with UAC turned off there are permission protections still in place that gives 99% of all programs a headache.
