Anyone know where cryptic are on fixing this problem? (If you ask me I suspect they won't have it fixed by the next update so we'll miss that as well )
I bought this game the day it came out and played on a computer that would run WoW but I lagged all the time on this game so I quit. I decided after 4 years to give it another go since I have an alienware x51 now that I run everything I play on the highest settings possible with ease and now my problem is if and when I do finish patching after every single time I log in I can play for like 5-10 minutes if I'm lucky before the server isn't responding or I freeze up or just get kicked offline. It has to be their servers because it happens on neverwinter too. AWFUL COMPANY AND AWFUL SERVERS!!!!! Thank god for blizzard and WoW! Perfect world even makes SWTOR look awesome! That's sad.

Now I have a Alienware X51 system, and its been an absolute pleasure playing STO with, without the slightest trace of lag or freezing, so its not the STO Servers that are causing the problem...
Its acting up again tonight too. I had to close the game twice because of it, then I tried to log in again and got stuck while loading Sol System, plus Server Not Responding would keep popping up. Server is about to crash or something. Not good.
******** U CRYPTIC STILL CAN'T GET ON
I hope you extend the event when we can finally get on or else compensate those of us that are shut out due to your servers because there is no chance of us getting the new ships.:mad:
uninstalled my game and re-installed and going in via arc instead of disc installation and same issues. Everything was fine this morning. No changes made to my PC after shutting the game down before patch. Now it won't get past cryptic loading screen and task manager says program not responding and it will eventually crash to desktop.
Shakes fist angrily at cryptics Q&C department if they have one
I can't create a new thread just yet, but I've been having problems with logging into STO at around 3:00 PM Pacific time yesterday; The server's connection completely died out and any attempts to log in since then have halted at the Cryptic Logo before I get the following message,
"star trek online fatal error: unable to initialize patching and connect to patch server"
At the moment, I've tried flushing my DNS, having Steam replace any corrupted files, safe mode for the game, force verifying, running the launcher AND the client as the administrator, completely deleting and reinstalling the game, manually unplugging and replugging my router and even trying to run the game by proxy through Neverwinter and Champions Online's launchers.
From what I've read, isn't the first time it's happened, but I'd really like to find if the problem is on my end or if there's a problem with Cryptic's servers.

You 'Net Test' results are within acceptable values. And with the exceptions of hop #4 & #7, the 'Trace Route' results look ok...
You can try substituting the 'pathping' command for the 'tracert' command, (both use the same syntax), to see if you are suffering from dropped packets...
You should also check to make sure you are doing these diagnostics when you are actually having the problems playing STO, as Internet issues are often intermittent in nature...

Here's a second run of the programs. This time, I started it directly after hitting "Engage" and starting the game in Safe Mode to keep it windowed. The startup process continued to be frozen at the black screen with the Cryptic logo.

Now these are not good values for something so close to your entry point into the Internet.... If a reboot/power cycle of your router does not fix the problem, then a query with Cox Tech Support would be in order here...
And by rebooting/power cycling, this means the router should be without power for at least 30 seconds, to make sure its good and dead before plugging it back in...
A technician came by and gave the house's connection a good look-see, replaced a few wires and even swapped out a cable that wasn't installed properly...Still no dice.
I'm beginning to suspect this is either a problem with my computer or on Cryptic's end.
McAfee must have spontaneously blocked STO several days ago; when I went through the firewall list, gameclient.exe was blocked. I un-blocked it and I got in!

great but that still doesn't help the rest of us who are blocked out because of cryptic's servers (both normal and patching)
Great I just looked at the news and found we're missing yet more free stuff it sure would have been nice for them to wait till they fixed this problem before throwing out more free stuff or perhaps they just want to rub it in our faces that we can't get on.:mad: (not to mention the fact arc doesn't work)
I found a solution to this problem, and for me it worked. Apparently the source of the problem making the game to freez/crash at the LoR loading screen is the Windows Firewall itself. I'm sure many of you, and myself too, have clicked allow the program through the firewall when it first popped up, thus creating a rule for it. What you have to do is go to control panel>>windows firewall>> allow a program through the firewall, then click change setting button so you can modify the list there. Find the one called "GameClient" and delete it with "remove". Then click OK and close the window. Also, go to your game folder, enter the Star Trek Online folder>> Live>> and set GameClient to run as administrator from the properties menu. Then start the game normally with the launcher. Alternatively you could uncheck "on-demand patching" from the options in the launcher. This worked for me...
