As much as I like this and appreciate it but the last giveaeay was a week before they announced ARC was being forced upon us despite all our wishes.

Could this be a week before Arc goes live?

Wow. These are the responses we get when Cryptic gives stuff away for free. Some people probably should just walk away from the game. It's obviously just not good for their health.

Thank you Cryptic, could be an awesome week

COULD COULD COULD you say. A week of give aways, new revamped content, a new feature episode, an iconic ST actor doing VO, anniversary ships, and you say could. I think this is getting 2014 off in style :)

They'll find some other trivial nonsense to throw their misbegotten anger into. It is world full of selfish and overly entitled individuals that we live on...sigh.

Oh well! Let their blood pressure spike! :)

With the unstoppable amounts of fun and joy at work, the last thing anyone needs is more of that TRIBBLE in games.

We're still far from the pinnacle of gaming that has always been ET.

Some people might disagree with you. While we're getting revamped and some new content, along with the featured episode and Tim Russ, the anniversary ships are something that draws a lot of fire primarily because we're just coming off the winter event and the anniversary even has yet another push towards having to log in every day this time to get the anniversary ship, when in the past two, they were rewards for completing a mission.

That's what I think when people begin to jump up and down and praise the game and company for their "generoisty". Of course you can express your joy about getting something for free but all that praise and gratefulness concerns me a little bit. A company is not "generous", by definition. Getting all to attached to it isn't healthy.

As stated by branflakes the anniversary event will not be a grind in relation to previous events where you will have to log on daily. The event will last for 25 days and you will need 1000 marks in order to claim the anniversary ship. However on this event, for completing the FE once you will be rewarded 400 of the marks free, leaving only 600 more to get. Q's event on average will take 2 - 5 minutes to complete where on completion you will be rewarded with 40 marks, thus in total only taking a further 15 days to complete leaving 10 days spare should you not want to, or unable to play daily.

In relation to rwards for completing a mission and was rewarded for it. Temperol Ambassador was such a mission where upon completing you had the option to claim a free Enterprise C without having to grind.

Also most recently, for completing Sphere of Influence first time was you rewarded with the Obelisk Carrier without having to grind.

Getting free items from the C-store is great, if only there where more items there to choose from. The only thing I would be interested in, is a master key, or fleet ship module. Being a Romulan focused player, I already have every single item for the faction.

What would be better, is free items especially made for each faction, rather then the federation focused free give aways it will probably become. Oh well, maybe next year.

Heh Crash, I understand the sentiment, but last time... They just gave the stuff away!

It wasn't great stuff, but it was free. The Nebula/Marauder were good. Of course with my luck I had just recently bought the marauder to get the pets... Did pick up a cheap fleet nebula out of the deal. I had always wanted one for the collection.

To bad I had most of it. Oh well maybe I'll have better luck this time around.

Not likely, I already own damn near everything lol. Especially for t5 ships. Down to the Intrepid, Excelsior, and Regent Fedside, and only the Varanus and B'Rel for the KDF.

I suppose I should be panic leveling my Reman... Bah I'm afraid if I do the darkside will call me and I will dump a ton of resouces becoming a rommy/scimmy/crit junky....

Edit: Nah... I know better... DPS races only hold my attention when I'm not in the top end... It's why I rolled sci and my tac never took me away... After a while more damage is just bigger numbers and the appeal starts to dwindle...
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!

Can't complain with free stuff, thanks Devs.

I'd like to see account bank slots. I'm never going to buy them as I feel they are way overpriced and as others had said you can buy them over and over so it won't hurt their revenue/sales to give one lot away for free.

While this will never happen (as they aren't in the c-store), I'd love to see the fleet uniforms given away, as a lot of smaller fleets haven't been able to get to the tier to get them yet, and on the KDF side uniforms are in high demand it isn't funny.

While I own about 80-90% of the ships available on the KDF side I hope they give one away I don't have. Also curious to see what if any Romulan freebies they'll give away.

Should shape up to be a good time of celebrations. :D

With so many hating the Galaxy R, so that would be top of the list of poor sellers. :D

They love the Galaxy-R, but they know the stats are rubbish.

Not unlike the Galaxy Dreadnought i have. It has its uses, but the stats are mediocre at best.

If poor selling is the criteria the Intrepid Refit probably tops all.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Are this complete new items? Or existing ones?

If existing items are for free, then people who bought those in the past, will get their ZEN spent returned?

If not then this free gift action only benefits mostly, people who do not spend any money?

    They will be existing items.

No, there will be no refund.

And unless you bought everything, you're likely to get something.

Well it does also go along with the Voyager theme we've had since season 8 began.

Though I'd definitely want that ship, if I had to choose a refit out of the C-store picks. That Bellerophon is sexy.

If you bought yourself dinner yesterday, and I invite you today to dinner although you are not hungry, do I have to give you the money you have spent yesterday on your dinner?

Not everyone has bought all the stuff from the Store, and do you think PWE searches each account for items the player has not bought?
They can only use even items for all players.

Best thing is, you get at least one free item. Worst is, you have them already. Not all items are account wide unlocked, so players with multiple characters can benefit.

This is a present for god's sake, they don't have to do this. I bought a new TV this week, it can be on sale within the next few month, or not. You can't predict such things.

So in other words I might have to buy more inventory and ship slots....possibly. ...So...you folk ain't so slow after all...give away items that most of us will surely want but not enough to spend money on...but make us buy more space to put it. :slow clap: Opportunistic...just like we are.... perfect timing for the season 8.5 coming out.

    YAYAYAYAYAY. and YAY.

Nice surprise, looks like season 8.5 is really gonna kick butt.

Certainly getting off to a better start than S8 and the great crash (out of the game for more than 2 weeks). Seriously, love this news and the anniversary ships look fantastic.

Depending on which ships are picked I might just have to forgive them for the lobi I lost on that event.

I think we'll see the following:

Monday: Racing Uniform (maybe Mercenary uniform, something for everyone as its cross factioj i think)

Tuesday: FED Exeter (it is an anniversary after all), KDF Qaw'Dun, Rom Dhael Warbird

Wednesday: FED Intrepid Retrofit (goes with Voyager theme) or maybe D'Kyr, KDF Varanus, Rom Dhelan.

Thats just conjecture based on whats selling and roughly themeing it. An additional reason why sales of end game science vessels could slump is the incoming Science destroyers competing for roles with all of the probable wednesday vessels (though the Dhelen is techincally an escort, it CmDr Tac LtC Science niche will also be snatched by the new hybrid, a double problem since it is presently the most "science vessel like" of the end game rom z-store ships).

Personally, my dream scenario would be for them to give away Exeter, Vandal and Valdore on Tuesday with Armitage/Defiant/Intrepid/Atrox, Kar'Fi/Guramba and Mogai/T'Varo Wednesday. Of course those are all hot sellers so I seriously doubt its gonna go down that way.

Knowing my luck though it'll be B'rel Retrofit (only got it last week), Excelsior and D'dex Wednesday (all the ones I already own). If it does go down that way I wont mind, at least there will be more of these beautiful ships in sector space and more goodwill in game.

Its not like Cryptic has to do this, although I can see why it makes business sense to try indirectly (through ship/character slots, playtime) and monetize assets which arent selling much anymore.

PS Congrats on your news Bran (:

    -Sao Paulo
    -Section 31 uniform
    -Jupiter uniforms
    -Bajoran uniform

I think a lot of the flak comes from not knowing the stats over on the new ships. Free stuff, well sure you MAY have bought all of it on all characters, but chances are we'll all end up with one thing we already had, one we don't much care for, and something we think is pretty neat to get. Either way, it's free stuff. Just because you don't like the samples offered up at costco this afternoon don't mean they're *******s for handing the things out, right?

But everyone's on edge about something else: Previous do-mission-get-ship vessels are 9 console at best. So "New Ship: free from doing new featured episode" usually tells us we're looking at the basic version of what will be a new Fleet-Level C-Store model.

Ships we have to work for are full fleet-level ships. "Do this 2 minute daily for 25 days and you get a ship" gives us things like the Plesh Brekk.

So people are worrying: They hear "Do this 5 minute daily for 15 days and you get a new featured episode free ship", and we're not sure what to think!

So come whenever we get the numbers on the things, it'll probably calm down.

My luck they are things that I already have bought. I prefer they giveaway something new like a new bridge layout (not one sold in the C-Store already), costume (again, not one sold in C-Store already), new Bridge Officer (not one sold in the C-Store already), free Starship slot, free Bank slot, free Zen, free Lobi Crystals, free Lockbox Keys, or some of the retail and pre-order exclusives such as the

Chromodynamic Armor [Steam digital retail exclusive],
Engineering Console-Radiometric Converter [Direct2Drive digital retail exclusive],
Multi-spatial Personal Shield [Direct2Drive retail exclusive],
    Science Console-EMH [Atari retail exclusive],
Tactical Console-Automated Defense Turret [Digital deluxe exclusive],
Tactical Console-Light Phaser Satellite Turret [Steam digital deluxe exclusive],
Neodymium Deflector Array (Syfy Pre-order exclusive],
    and the TR-116A Rifle - Sniper Rifle [Target & Game.co.uk Pre-order].

It's been 4 years, so I don't see why those pre-order and exclusive items shouldn't be given away or sold in the C-Store by now. Considering, there is no way to get them otherwise, unless they became Character unBound and someone who has them is willing to sell them in the Exchange.

I just hope Season 8.5 has something new and interesting. As much as I love playing Star Trek Online, I seem to do more grinding to get dilithium, credits, and marks than anything. I kinda miss the old days of just playing new missions and discovering something new about the game.

The items will be C Store only, like the Summer giveaway event it will be a case of luck if you don't already have the item. On the plus side the giveaway this time will not be items that were in the Summer giveaway.

Your wish for Retail and pre order exclusives will unfortunately not come true. The general consensus is that the items are going to be Voyager related, ie 7 of 9 custume pack, Intrepid.

As for season 8.5 offering something new and interesting, the revamping of the FED Klingon War episodes are genius, If you think you know these missions inside out then think again, although they all have the original story arcs, the gameplay for these missions is totally new. The graphics are so sweet, some missions have less to do, but require a bit more thought, where others have more for you to do with new objectives thrown in for great measure.

I like the mission Ultimate Klingon. On H'atoria instead of just running along the snow and ice you now slip and slide, and confronting Singh, you get three options on how to handle the objective. Do you go in all guns blazing, do you praise his genius, or do you try to out smart him.

Lists of stuff you already own.

Do you really think Cryptic are going to go through this thread and change their plans based on what one or two people have said that they own?

If so, I recommend you visit this place we call reality. You might like it.

This is a really generous promotion as was the last one - Thanks!
