Catain is Overpowered on Ground

I have been in this game since it started.
Currently, I am running a Ferasan Cat.
It does not compare in any way on Ground to the Fed Cat.
The Fed Caitian gets Teamwork, Covert, and a 1.5% dodge of all damage.

The dodge needs to go. I blasted those Fed cats with every pulse wave I had
Nanite CritDX3 CritH X3 and right in front of them while fully buffed and they take almost no damage.

I have a Full Dyson set and all kinds of Mk12 weapons from the STF's and Rep system. There is just no comparison.

Maybe this is why everyone quit the Ground PVP.

Otherwise, I do really like all the changes that have taken place in this game. But someone needs fix this.

At least let me take my Fed Cat and change allegences to the Klingons.
And give all cats the same trait pool so they can be equal.

Perhaps they were specifically skilled for ground PVP as 99% spec for space..

But let's be honest, how cruel could it be to shoot innocent cats?

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

You already nerfed our pounce+lunge combo before. (Which wasn't even needed because I can one-shot a person with a lunge...) If you want to nerf something, nerf the one-shot rifles.

I haven't been on a cat in awhile but iirc it's 10% chance to dodge 50% of ranged weapon damage. It wasn't a big deal before all the current enhancements to dodge came out. It's ridiculous in my mind that a stat that plays such an important role in surviving on ground is invisible and therefore, unintuitive for a casual player.

They may do something with dodge but I doubt they will change caitains as they cost zen.

That's because the average new player is using Energy Dampening Armor because the geniuses in the EliteSTF channels claim that Energy Dampening is the best on the ground. Unfortunately, Energy Dampening also has 0 damage resistance against physical attacks (Lunge/Swords/Punching).

Nerfing pulsewaves would be like nerfing Dual Beam Banks to make it impossible for raiders to one hit kill. The problem isn't the weapons, it's the fact that casuals don't know or don't want to learn how to counter cloakers.

Someone that just joined in December 2013 on the forums is calling another player "noob", look who's talking. den3067 is right in one respect, Caitians should have never been given +10% dodge chance, it is an advantage that makes them superior at damage avoidance over any other race. It would be like giving the Jem'hadar Attack Ship +50% always on defense on top of it's current stats, even when held. However, the problem has been lessened somewhat now that it's impossible to stack Ambush Fields. With the knockback bug also patched and the fact that the catian race has very limited trait choices outside of the species trait, the playing field is much more even between catians and non-catians.

Now the Dyson set...or rather the Dyson armor...isn't a good choice for a Tactical officer. The only reason one would want to use the Dyson armor on a tactical officer is for the three piece hunker down ability combined with bugged defiance for 10 seconds of near damage immunity (98% all damage resistance) every 1 minute 12 seconds. The shield has a very effective reactive shield heal and the weapon is perhaps the most versatile ranged weapon in the game. Saying the set isn't a "DPS set" is invalid, it provides a balance between survivability and damage. The set is capable of impressive damage due to the very high number of generated exposes.

A double jumping human? They need to ditch the invisible walls that made shanty town favor cats so much. Yea you can pretty much get anywhere with any race if you know how but meh annoying to fight the stream of "pop goes the weasel" cats just hopping up and down from the bridge ledge or at extreme range. Behold mah mad jumping skillz.

Just got double the traits we used to have with the revamp! Need more? Lol.

The shield thing I could agree with for consistency with space, but then I'm biased as I've never considered cloaking to be anything but lame gameplay on the ground. Space cloakers pay a high enough price for it, but on ground properly built tacs can still sit at 0m range and not be detected without strike force, tric scan or w/e. Having no shield when cloaked might force them to de-cloak and ya know play the game instead of just ganking and running away.

Yes-yes-yes so if anything you need a nerf!

    Devs, nerf sito. ;)

OT are cats impossible to bring down for non-cats? No. Are they noticeably more difficult to bring down compared to other races? Yes. But then, they cost zen so it is what it is.

    Thank You for your posts.
But just to clear up some things.
I am a Ferasan KDF cat with the Lunge and Pounce as well.
I was killed by a Science On ground not a cloaker. And I was not killed by a Lunge or Pounce.
We all get a dodge for crouching,
However; on top of that the Fed Caitian gets an additional dodge without the crouch.
They get a 1.5 percent dodge chance to dodge half of all ranged weapon damage as a passive without the crouching being done. So this is an additional dodge that stacks.

They take no damage when u point blank pulsewave them.
I beat all other toons on the ground.

Let me know what u think Trekkies. Thanks for your posts.

They could just change all dodge to degrade the closer you are to a target or institute a similar mechanic to accuracy v defense on ground to something like precision v dodge where the closer you are to a target the higher your precision rating and negate a targets dodge value making it easier to hit the closer you are... maybe even new traits like "sharpshooter" etc.

But maybe I'm over thinking it, just a thought. :)

While I'm thinking about it. I don't see the harm in denerfing the nerf of Pounce and Lunge. With the Dyson set out you can just crouch and your personal shield goes up if u are using the Dyson set anyway. Plus you get a flanking resist with that Dyson set negating the Pounce.
We should give back something to the players that actually bought the Caitain in the Zen store.

As far as my skill tree:

    9 points in Weapons Proficiency
    9 points in Personal Shields
    9 points in Combat Specialist
    9 Special Forces
    6 Squad Command
    Advanced Tactics about 4?
Armor 4? or something like that.

I expected to be beat in PvP from time to time sure.
But I also expected while tiered up in the Rep system with Cryo and Full Dyson set to be able to kill a Fed cat. Specially when I got in several shots cuz I caught the last one flat footed and froze him in place with Cryo.

    Reputation System:

    Teir5 Omega
    Tier5 Dyson
    Tier4 Nakura
    Tier4 New Romulus

Testing against the same player I used these weapons:

    Nanite Pulsewave CritDx3 Mk12
Elite Disruptor with 15% chance to vaporize when health is low Mk12 DMGx2 KB3
    Dyson Pulsewave CritDx2 CritHx1 Mk12
    Omega carbine Mk12

Just respecced and put my personal shields to 6
    Special Forces to 3
and put 8 points in Advanced Tactics

The Dyson "shield" is just a representation of some extra resistance granted from crouching. It's not really a shield in the way a cover shield an engineer can make is and that extra resistance is only granted to damage coming straight at you. It does nothing to mitigate flank damage.

I don't think you understand what mechanic was broken that caused pounce and lunge to do what they did. It was something that went way beyond just those 2 powers and affected all exploit knock back attacks.

Crouching with sure footed trait makes you immune to knock back anyway, Dyson or not. There are some circumstances where a power can ignore that resistance but knock backs ignoring resistance should not be normal and what pounce/lunge and other melee knock backs were doing was a bug so I don't think "nerf" is the correct term for that bug fix.

And now you've confused me. If catains are OP now to you why are you now saying they should have that broken knock back power as the norm? They really were OP when pounce always knocked and could be chained.

P.S. You shouldn't count on cryo immobilizer, that's bugged too and the fix is already on the Tribble test server.

you have no willpower at all you will be knocked rooted held easily by anything at all! you want near 3 min 6 would be best, 9 in any skill is normally a complete waste 6 is the better option only thing you should have 9 in is weapon efficency. one or 2 other skills as well depending on what you want to do kit ect, doing more then 6 but not completeing to 9 is an even bigger waste then 9 it self also shield on tact depends on kit but most will only ever do 3.

armor at 4? you wish to die? good day to die maybe ehh? ;-) min you want is 6 9 is fun but questionable, special forces min 6 9 is a good day for your target to die 3 is if you use ambush next to tickling them with a feather.

no nerf of caitians is required at all a human can do just as well with enough talent skill setup and gear as can any species you are just not able to with your current skill setup.

little advice if you see a red thing called fire on my mark around you use battle strategies to remove it and quickly if you dont have that in your current kit you use your about to die and need a different kit, use aim default x to target 33% dmg boost and c to crouch 50% dodge enemy attacks if you see someone flying toward you press c right away to uncrouch or instant death in most cases as it has -100 physical resists lunge pounce sword ect will make short work of any crouched person if you meet them again good luck :D
