holy server lag...

the server lag the last few days has been incredible..

I have come to the conclusion that it is the servers or at least on their end in some respect, as I have tried 6 events tonight, and in each, every single person was complaining about the severe lag.. and on top of that, I am experiencing no lag in any other game, or internet connected fathom. my internet connection tests are showing everything normal..

honestly, we were in an azure nebula run, and only cleared 4 ships the whole time.. I can do more than that myself with the time allotted.. lol..

hope this gets cleared up soon, cause none of the other games I play are experiencing this..

    I have seen many adjectives, most of which are unrepeatable here, used to describe server lag in STO. Until now, "holy" was not one of them. :P

    I am getting lag so bad STO is unplayable for me. And it is the only one. My wife can be surfing, my daughter can be downloading, netflix can be running on my TV, and I can play absolutely anything in my game library without lag, except STO. Even now that they have gone to bed and all other electronics are off STO lags too bad to play. This has been going on now for a couple of weeks.

    All is good here based on our reporting tools, and everything we can control. You can run these tests to diagnose your issue and provide the results to your ISP for investigation: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155

    Hope it resolves for you soon!

    Also, you may not be getting lag on other online services because it depends on how your ISP routes you (the 'hops' you'll see in the test results) to our server, and not all online services will use the same hops.

    Is Cryptic's provider within your control? Are you required by PWE to use Cogent and somehow unable to enter a contract with a different provider?

    From my pathping to the login server. I got dumped from it about an hour ago. line 9 says its PWE but whois says that address belongs to Internap services, same owner of line 8. I'm betting PWE could say something to internap about line 9 but, line 8 = I'm SOL as I understand it.

    Likewise for people who can't even patch at all. I deleted the entire live folder and patched 8.2gb only to have it hang again at 94%. I'm sure that's somehow my problem too. The lag and server not responding has been bad too though.

    Normally I have no issues with STO, but the last few days have been nothing be getting dropped, kicked from server, disconnect after disconnect, and its not one me that this is happening too, I have had multiple other users within my Fleet having the same problem. Note we don't even live in the same areas or same countries and haven't issues like this at all before.

    So as much as I'd like to say it was just me, why are multiple other people from my fleet having the same issues and what seems like others too?

    Every other game I have I am connecting and staying connected just fine, no lag, no dropping nothing wrong at all. STO I'm lucky if I'm connected for 10mins before it drops.

    For me I'm on the flip side of the coin. Since the last server maintenance (01/15) STO has been running so sweet and slick for me. I'm somewhat impressed. I'm a UK player.

    switched ships to test out my brand new mirror universe advanced escort...got to sector space and could not move...was lagged right out of the game, had to do a hard shutdown of the game just to log back in, this after last night's patch.

    I never experienced this before last night's patch..so something's gone fubar.

    I don't know about anyone else, but this sums it up. Constant SERVER NOT RESPONDING message with game freeze up, followed by server disconnect. Worst experience in online gaming, hands down.

    Checked the router, it's fine. Checked my network card, it's fine. Nothing else has this issue. Just STO. Still have yet to hear back on a submitted ticket to Tech Support, almost been a week now since submitting. Hopefully they won't want to do the same song and dance of restarting your equipment, re-installing the game - done both already to no positive effect.

    Any useful suggestions would be appreciated.

    your download and upload speed may be fast but if your computer can not handle the speed it will slow it down to a speed it can handle.


    I would recommend checking your drivers and making sure they are up to date. This problem plagued me for the longest of time untl I upgraded my RAM and graphics card. I have always had high speed internet just never a good enough computer to makegood use of it.

    U probably have some background programs or anything else that is stealing your bandwith. Or you probably have an anti-virus system activated that is draining your connection. Or probably you have a poor isp. Who knows.

    But one thing is true and this has nothing to do with lag / player issues. There is a bug in the game that sometimes the skills need to be pressed more than once to be activated. Happens to me sometimes, but that doesn othing to do with lag. It is one of the reasons i use key shorcuts most of the times, because sometimes i cant just keep pressing a skill until it activates. Time is essential. Since we reached a point, where there are so many bugs in-game, i just dont look for explanations, i just look for personal solutions (since i know cryptic will never fix most of the bugs and i know i will find more bugs day after day.).

    Btw, having more RAM will not help him if the problem is lag.. for god sake.. xD.

    Edit--- Forget it, I'll just wait for yall to aknowledge something is wrong and fix it. My equipment is fine.
