Problems with connection

When on STO for about an hour or more, the server stops responding, and STO crashes. This would be annoying on its own, but it also crashes my internet, so I have to restart the computer.
The strangest thing is, although other computers in the house can still connect to the internet, (though this did not only occur when another computer in the house was using the internet) my computer refuses to even acknowledge that an internet connection is available until it is restarted.
Any suggestions as to how to fix this?
