Launcher won't launch

Yeah, another launcher update, another day of "the launcher won't start." I'm beginning to loathe whatever Cryptic puts in their updates that makes their games disagreeable for the first day or two.

Your JPG image clearly shows that you have a network connection issue of some kind...

So what does your 'Net Test' and 'Trace Route' diagnostics look like? Both diagnostics are described in this thread... Hi Matt

i dont have any internet problems yet since the launcher updated toaday i am not getting past
" connecting" really gets anoying, plus everytime i shut the computer down and restart the stupid launcher updates itself again.
And if git goes past that the loading screen appears and the message " game client is not responding".

where can i find the old version to download again so i can play?

It ain't our internet connections. I'm having problems too but I'm not getting the same error as the OP.

What's happening for me is that yesterday and today there was an update for the launcher. The launcher is taking it's time to load the window. After logging in it takes about 5 minutes before I see the 'Engage' button.

The STO forums are running slugging too the last couple of days. Usually web pages load rather fast but sometimes it can take up to 30 seconds here for the page to load.

I doubt it's my internet connection because all kinds of other various websites load almost instantaneously most of the time.

yeah i know it is not my internet i run non stop tests on it, works really good today, just another TRIBBLE up from cryptic, what pisses me off is that they always tell you " it is you not us".

Oh new message on attempt 56, new message is " cant connect to account server(3)"

Just because you can connect to the Internet doesn't mean that your ISP can establish a connection to the STO servers.. (The 'Net Test' diagnostic would show if you can or not...)
And unless those other sites you can connect to are located in the same physical location as the STO servers, the fact that you can connect to them has very little meaning, as different locations on the Internet will have different performance metrics...

If you 'Know' that nothing is wrong with your Internet, it would simple enough to prove it by posting the diagnostic results...

Very well, but it's strange this happens every time they patch the damn launcher.

120s is actually not a very good value... most of route latency should be lower then this...
Very well, but it's strange this happens every time they patch the damn launcher.

    contacting nettest server..timed out
    hit return to exit

Now this would explain why the launcher can't connect... 'Net Test' tries to connect to a diagnostic server, located on the same network as the STO servers.... (So the STO Servers are out of the picture here...) If 'Net Test' can't establish a connection to the diagnostic server, then that shows that its a Internet connection issue, and not a Server/Launcher issue...

So the next question is why can't you establish a connection to hosts on the STO network??? Run this command...

    pathping patchserver.crypticstudios.com

... and post the results, as this will provide some info on your connection path quality to the STO Servers...

So 'Path Ping' says you have a dropped packet (as in discarded or thrown away...) problem, with the worst case showing a 100% packet drop on what appears to be the Qwest Communication gateway to the pnap.net backbone...

So in this case, its actually is your ISP that is causing the connection issue....
