Got medical appointments, clumsy fingers, etc., and very doubtful I can win 25 days.

Do I really need or want a breen ship if I'm not a raider? And if so, didn't I read somewhere that it could be bought with lobi crystals, or that autographs could be, and then used to buy a ship?

Whats the alternate way to get the ship?
And what's the alternate way to get that previous ship?

I've been digging through the blogs and can't find the specific notes.

    Thanks!

(P.s. Do I really -need- the holiday stuff, or is it all optional or items I can get elsewhere?)

Whether or not you need the Chel Grett or Plesh Brek is entirely dependent on your playstyle and build. I'm perfectly happy running a Fleet Avenger beamboat, others like glass cannons.

Post your character's spec here and then we can tell you more.

Do you have to win? I thought you just have to compete. It's not fast and flurrious, its the fastest game on ice thing which is maybe half as hard. Pretty sure someone beat me in mine today and I still got paid.

Nobody "needs" any of these ships. But they're nice to have. You can buy photos with lobi if you want, don't know how much lobi you'd need to buy a ship. I'd do that on the last day to suppliment any effort you'd already made to save yourself some cash.

You can get either of the ships from the events secion of your reputation tab under the status menu which is brought up when you hit the U key.

Its actually going on for about 42 days and is likely to be extended as every single other event cept the free lobi one has been extended.

You race against an NPC who spawns next to you on the start line, enough to prevent you from just walking through but otherwise not very fast. Shooter mode for positioning, sprint on the straightaways, roll in any turn over 90 degrees or if you start sliding off the track. Honestly, once you get the hang of it, you'll wonder how you ever had a problem.

tbh they need to stop doing two different rewards that cant both be completed in the same event.

either that or double the number of items you can get a day.

i dunno, it just seems pointless to only work for one ship

It's almost as if they force you to make a choice between two equally desirable items? What a scary conundrum they've gotten us into there!

no, its more like you then have about 17 pointless days at the end to even participate, because to even get the second one youd need an extra week

then your inventory is down a slot saving for the next year. i dont like clutter.

besides, both ships take equivalent effort, there is no reason to force choice.

IMO, "next to impossible" is a bit of an overstatement, but they are a lot less unique looking than before.

I drift into corners, and use a bunny hop to stop sliding. Also... you DO get traction on the edges of the track, if you do it just right you don't need to worry about slipping, for most of the race.

One of the ships was available last year. They could have just made one ship available this year, but they gave people the choice to work towards whichever they wanted.

Obviously a huge mistake, judging by the ridiculous complaints.

providing you have good use from 1 hand, rpg mode can be used. Although when needing to roll into a turn it must be done in a forward direction, so practice is needed. Whenever you are about to come to an overslide situation you need turn opposite from it and roll to avoid it, than commence running again.

Honestly, I think they did that on purpose so new players would use up the Lobi they saved from the Replay Event. But I'm not going to play that game, I'll wait til next year.

I find bunny hopping to be the easiest way to stop sliding. Whenever you jump you automatically stop moving sideways. :P

It's easy enough to beat your chump, the chump of the guy who started before you, and sometimes even the guy himself. And sometimes you don't even get a chump. Your chump can apparently get himself disqualified before the race starts.

This was done to allow people from last year who didn't finish picku and complete last years ship.

In the effort of them being nice this years folks get a choice.

Consider yourself lucky as I think its a great everyone gets a choice this year.

I can see where the choice would be tough for somebody with just one character rolled up. Both are cool looking (in an accident sort of way). And the Breen are just bad TRIBBLE.

But I'm not sweating it. Running multiple characters through the event, so I can try out both ships.

through I combination of left over pictures and lobi I shaved time off that for some of my characters, once you figure the system it's not so bad.

I am very unhappy that they seem to have altered the solo run in the fastest game on ice race.
last year it seemed quite often that the solo run popped up and that was the only way I was able to get the breen ship for my 2 characters.
this year although I know the solo run is still there as I managed to get it on my second attempt with my fed and I have seen others get it, it seems to occur much less frequently this year and there seems to be no pattern that I can see as to when it will happen
although I am not too fussed about the ship this year I would have liked the universal console that you get with it as you can add it to the ship from last years console for extra benefits, I also like to take part in these rep events even if I don't particularly want the rewards.
I have been trying on and off for the last 12hrs with my kdf and rom and have been unable to get the solo.
I know there are tricks that some use to win against an opponent like sliding or rolling on the bends and even changing into different characters with q`s help but I have tried them all and failed by either sliding off the track or being passed by the opponent who runs really fast and seems to be almost glued to the track.
and once passed it is impossible for me to regain the lead.
I just wish there was some alternate free way that you could get the reward on a daily basis, without having to buy lockbox keys so you can get the lobi from them, for us saddoes who cant win the race.
why not make it so if you don't win first time you get 20 pics, and if you win or don't win second time you also get 20 pics and once you have your 40 pics you cannot try again for 20hrs at least that would make it fair for anyone who cant manage to win first time and get the 40 pics and all we would have to do is 2x the work to get the ship.
I guess at the end of the day I will just have to give this years ship a miss.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Try not running except for on some long straightish stretches. Should do fine, even against an NPC... Maybe take some tight corners, but that's about all there is to it, for me.

Didnt try it this year but last year you could just repeat the race if you fail. Just dont "return" it and instead just drop the mission. You can get the mission from the breen again and try a second/third/... run

also try not to run too much if you have problems cause you can win it just walking at least mainly. Just run on start and finish and walk the rest.
