And Taris, well, the 4028 mission mentions an Iconian energy signature being detected in her cell. the real question is whether she became Elachi food.
I doubt that.
***Spoiler, Highlight to read***
Near the end of "Cutting the Cord", one of the Romulans escapes through the small Iconian Gate, and yells someone's name, Knaav I believe. Who is this person? It would not surprise me if that is who broke her out.
I doubt they sprung her just to simply be used as fodder. As Gandalf the Grey said about Gollum, I say about Taris. "My heart tells me that Taris (sicGollum) has some part to play yet, for good or ill, before this is over."

Well, Taris is at least not an absolutely blind fanatic/sycophant, so yes, what part she will play remains to be seen.
All things considered, though, I would like to see a mission in which we discover that the assimilated Donatra was from an alternate timeline, and rescue the Donatra from our own timeline before she gets assimilated. I believe she could give D'Tan a run for his money in the next election.

I would love to see a mission where the players rescue Donatra from the Borg. It would be interesting to see if she supports the Republic. Anything to tie the RSE/IRS conflict into the current RR/RSE divide.
Oh now that would be a grand special episode event. Put out a mission similar to the beginning of the 2400 chain. You meet a bunch of romulan hopefuls for the senate and you as a commander help steer some of them into office. Cryptic runs the event for a month and tallies the results. The winners are game canon senators in the new republic.
Roll in an eventual election versus D'Tan for similar fun.

what an interesting statement.
given that if you told someone in 1998 that by 2014 they would be living in a usa with a manifestation of The Terminal from orwells 1984, built in utah, that spies on every single e-mail, msn/skype conversation, every forum post and every sms message you send.
you would be dismissed as a kook for accurately describing today.

Have you ever seen Tal Shiar propaganda? lol no, there is no such thing. Tal Shiar is all what left of empire, therefore if you help tal shiar, you help the empire too. I believe that monarchy is the only true way of government so I want to be with the Star Empire.
All what has been shown about Tal Shiar in sto is nonsense and not even canon.

Not sure if serious or intentionally trying to sound indoctrinated
"Indoctrinated" You keep on using that word, I don't think it means what you think it means.
No really, if you want propaganda, than republic is full of it.
It really feels wrong while playing romulan episodes, since I am being forced to do things which are against my nature: to lie, pretend and to stab in the back. Imperial npc are also treating player well, they say like "What you did is bad, but we forgive you!" and than I am forced to shoot in return...
I agree with empire, republicans are terrorists and renegades, they have to be eliminated.
No trolling here.

Charva! How did you escape the holding cell in-game and make a forum account?
Yes, it's not as if there were an episode in which you get to see the Tal Shiar forcing Borg implants into a Romulan, or building outlawed thalaron weapons, or selling their entire species out to alien fungi or ancient galactic threats, or anything.
Well, the romulan prisoner in that episode was an obvious republican outlaw.
Romulans weren't sold to any other species. Romulans did their best for the alliance with the Iconians. Since elachi are iconian subordinates, they came to help too. As Hakeev told, romulans are supposed to have their special place in the iconian regime.
Heroes for ones, are outlaws for others. And vice versa.

I think the point he was trying to make is that Romulans usually the ones to be pulling the strings as the puppet master. Not the lackey for some greater power as Hakeev was. Though he would never admit to it, he WAS a slave to a greater master. He did not ally Romulus to the Iconians, he sold his people down the river.
Did you visit the Elachi base, taut? There were shiploads of Rihannsu, being incubators for Elachi young! And that's on top of the apparent knowing use of the device at Hobus to destroy ch'Rihan, and leading the charge at Virinat to slaughter an innocent farming colony. Hakeev sold the RSE to the Iconians lock, stock, and barrel - you're just too indoctrinated by the Tal'Shiar's propaganda to see it.
What it means? I remember there were some kind of containers with elachi clones in them.
There were containers with Romulan prisoners in various states of "Elachification."
Depending on who you ask, it means either:
1. Romulans were being transformed into Elachi
or (more likely)
2. Romulans were being used as food for Elachi young.
There is no other option in this scenario, unfortunately (I say "unfortunately," because I so despise situations in which two and only two options are presented as if they be the only options available, a logical fallacy called variously "Black-and-White Thinking," "False Dilemma," "False Dichotomy," and "Bifurcation Fallacy," among other names -- however, extremely rare situations in which only two options exist are also real, and this is one of them).
This is what your beloved Tal'Shiar did in helping Elachi take Romulans and Remans captive when they attacked Romulan and Reman colony worlds. Don't kid yourself. Go back and redo the mission and see for yourself.

For the record, I think taut0u is playing devil's advocate. From the Tal Shiar perspective there are two groups of Romulans. Loyal Tal Shiar allies, and rebel elachi food.
Hakeev's actions on Hobus however are either the actions of a mass murdering sociopath or a craven coward.
Assuming he knew what the device would do, and evidence says he did. Then he set off the destruction to:
A) Wipe out all opposition to his loyal tal shiar. Including the pesky senate and milk fed and coddled remans, Would make the elachi/iconians happy and thus let him live.

I agree with you about taut0u, although I think he/she is simply responding "in character". While I usually interact in the game "in character", I rarely do so here on the Forums. When and if I do, I will likely change the text color and use "quotation marks".
And yes, I think your assessment of Hakeev's actions at Hobrus are spot on.
In this case there is only one story to sell, so it must be made easy to buy. With so many planets, with so many individuals involved, there can of course be no deviation from that golden path of enlightenment. That absolute truth as told by one side only!
For if that was true, the world would be complicated. Somewhere between like say, a readily provided political picture with a frame conforming to contemporary specifications, and the world of the self-hypnotizing conspiracy theorists, where the wheels get legs to walk on, for they are just not running wild enough!
I believe in a universe that lies in-between those extremes. And that certainly means there is more to any faerytale, than merely a wish to tell a good story. Or in this case, more of a bad one. :P
So, I have completed playing elachi episodes. There were no of those terrible things you told me about. Elachi uses kidnapped for food purpose indeed but only rebels and outlaws, those that are enemies of the empire. Since they are dealing with empire enemies only, in their special way maybe, I see here a proof that elachi are allies of the empire.

Well there were no opposition as senate approved Sela as an empress. Of course, there ought to be those who disagreed, but they were minority. There really were no reason to destroy Romulus for this reason as the majority of the senate were allies. To get rid of opposition Hakeev could simply invite them for some talks and hide thelaron mine under table.
Destruction of Romulus brought the prospering empire to ashes and made tons of problems we are dealing with today, such as D'tan and his republic. It doesn't benefit to anyone but D'tan himself. No really, Tal Shiar took power when Sela took the throne, empire was strong and they had absolute power. Iconians, as those who were seeking for new subordinates, would want strong allies, not those weak romulans which we see in sto, so they would not destroy Romulus as well. So the only one who benefited from all of that is D'tan as he received power to push his insane ideas and fame for his ego as he is arrogant.
As the saying says, if you want to know who is guilty, seek for the one who benefited.
Oh and not to mention Tovan Khev clone network which D'tan assigned to us. Every romulan ship has its own republican spy so D'tan know about every our move.

Rebels and outlaws? Innocent colonists.
*adds taut0u to the Tal'Diann's list of enemies of the state*
So tell me, what crime had the colonists of Virinat committed? Since the untampered files show that the so-called "smuggling" was merely repairing outdated machinery in order to ensure the colonists' survival, given that the Empire had declined to so much as provide replacement parts...
And yet they were seized en masse, and fed to the Elachi. Rihannsu, sold as foodstuffs to aliens! Even the kll'inghann would never stoop so low as to sell their own kin as food!

Oh, wait...
No offense meant but.....
Once again I log on in need of a good laugh and I wasn't disappointed.
The above highlighted text shows the criminal activity that the Romulan republic takes part in. It's easy to point fingers and shout outlaw at the Romulan star empires, use of thalaron weapons but if the Republic uses them, their no better end of story. But they would never stoop that low and build dreadnaught style capital ships that carry Weapons of mass destruction of a planet dooming scale. Oh wait...
Whats more disturbing is the Federation and Klingon Empire turn a blind eye to the grave danger that this poses.

Um, you do know that the average Starship can demolish the biosphere of a class M planet with standard weaponry right?
Um, you do know that the average Starship can demolish the biosphere of a class M planet with standard weaponry right?
Yeah but simply put Thalaron weapons were banned not only because of the cruel nature of killing at the subatomic level, but the fact that as part of the Tertiary em field thalaron radiation particles can potentially expand without limit polluting major areas Even sto's own soft cannon take on the bassen rift (aka great bloom system) shows that it is still contaminated from the battle of the Enterprise-E vs the Scimitar over 30 years ago.
Just like chemical weapons are banned by most Governments today.
Most governments in the startrek universe (like the federation) banned research of them.

I do apologize if I sound a tad Vulcan a moment. However there is a flaw in your logic.
While D'tan has gotten a power base since the destruction of Romulus, he did not get the world he has till after the Tal shiar attacked their own colonies.
Taris was Praetor at the time of the destruction and Sela became empress after. So the one that benefited was Sela, the one that Hakeev reports to. . .

Now the collateral damage thing is a good argument. I'm guessing that people have found better ways to contain it by now though.

Back when LoR and the associated story beats first came out, I joked that anyone seeking the Romulan throne these days must supply, as part of their application, at least one alien race who've agreed to support their claim in exchange for the right to hunt, harvest, experiment on, etc their own people.
