Alienware backlit keyboard

Ive been away from game for many months. Im now back and enjoying season 8. Ever since I patched up to the latest version though a few days ago I noticed as soon as I get to Character selection screen my alienware backlit keyboard goes dark. Ive gone through all the keyboard settings and see no option to force it back on. It works in all the other games I play and used to work fine on STO as well until now. As soon as i log out of the game it lights back up. Any thought as to how i can fix this? It really makes typing a pain without the illumination.

you may want to submit a trouble ticket for that one, or post in the PWE forum. as this a p2p forum.

my guess though it would have to be something in the options of the game. If not then I would do a dxdiag attach it to the ticket and submit it.

You might try putting your Alienware AlienFX tool in disabled mode, to keep games and other applications from changing the appearance of your computer hardware...

(I do this with my Alienware Area 51 system, and never have this issue...)

Grouchyotaku, thanks so much for the advice. I wasnt aware applications had access to it. Its disabled now for keyboard and lighting effects on the comp and working perfectly in game again.

Alienware support is buggy at the moment. I added a command line option to disable it if you need to. See the other thread:
