Is S8 finally taking us into 2410?

neoakiraiineoakiraii Member Posts: 7,468 Arc User
in the dev the the Romulan chick says says..."It?s been months since we found the Iconian gateway"

Or am i that awesome that I did everything from January till June 2409, and s8 takes place in October 2409.:D

So is our endless time loop finally over, and we are free to move on a year. :)

And we on the forum will be treated to many more interesting sigs from you neoakiraii. I don't think I've ever seen anyone change things up as much as you man. Can't wait to see what comes next.

However... you might not be the Overlord, as I think there will be quite a few others who will be vieing for that title. Me... I'll settle for Galactic Explorer. And maybe Borg Slayer as many Borg have died by

Sure? I don't recall timelines in the Romulan missions so maybe New Romulus was built in a day? :P

I plan to resign my Commision as Admiral in 2410, write a book "How I went from Ensign Redshirt, to Vice Admiral in One year...and so can you." Then give motivatioal speeches in hotel conference rooms around the Alpha quadrant. At 8000 Dil, and 1000000 ECs a seat!:D

In all seriousness I don't see what the date matters.

I don't know about the rest of you guys but can we move on from 2409. I went from Ensign to Vice Admiral in three weeks and some in game characters are still the same rank. Look at poor LT Ferra. Can we at least promote him. Poor dude. He does so much for everyone.

Make it 2410 in 2014. That way the Nexus can return for the 20th anniversary of Generations.

Actually, by going with in game story-wise time, we are actually in 2410 contrary to what the Devs say. I have been going through mission logs and other lore stuff, yes 2409 was a busy year.

Here is what I gather, the Fed-KDF war ended or at least a cease-fire was reached late mid-2409 and a "hot" cold war has been in effect. So by the time as players we get to the True Way missions, it is early 2410. Though there are some featured episodes that are not placed in chronological order, like the Breen and the Dominion.

    To summarize on the events of 2409;

The Klingon Empire is at war with the Federation, there is an Undine (and Iconian) threat looming, Mol'Rihan has been colonized and built, with D'Tan setting up his Republic. An uneasy ceasefire has been laid out between the Federation and Klingons in order to help the Republic (though apparently they're cool with blowing each other away when not in the Tau Dewa Sector).

We've also fought a Devidian threat, we've solved what could have been a second Dominion War (I'd imagine the episodes, whilst small in number, would have taken place over several weeks or months), we've helped liberate the Remans (again, no daily task) and we've fought the Breen over some artifacts.

And if that wasn't enough, we've pushed back a Mirror Invasion, and dealt a blow to the True Way ... and now, with the existence of a Dyson Sphere, we're fighting the Voth.

    Surely it's time for 2410?

According to the following blog, the year is 2413:
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=1014021

That's from the stardate given, which is:
86830.13 which translates to Fri Jan 25 2413 14:32:54 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time)

So, something does not compute here. :P

So the STO timeline is convergent and limits 2409?

IMO, the game runs on what I'm going to call "comic book time."

That is, the whole storyline and history of the game's events fit together nicely, as long as you don't look too closely and are willing to just roll with it.

Just like how Spider-Man has only aged maybe 10 or 15 years since the 1960s, but all of his adventures in that timeframe are considered canon, you have to just accept it as-is and move on.

Personally, I don't have any trouble accepting the fact that years have passed for my Level 50 characters, while it still may be 2409 for other players who are just starting out, even though I can interact with them any time I want. :P
You're right. The work here is very important.

TOR's story spans two years going from level 1 to 50. I don't see why its a problem for STO to move beyond 2409. I mean yes there are concurrent events in 2409 like the conclusion to the Romulan Internal Wars which started around 2380 and the True Way Insurrection to the Deferi-Breen War.

My point is that the game itself almost never mentions the "official" date - I consider references to 2409 (which generally occur only at the beginning of the game, and in ancillary material such as these very forums, as opposed to in-game missions) to a reference to the "era." The exact year is whatever the heck I want it to be.

Actually, it does, in the Dominion Featured Series, it mentions that the 2800 event occurs late 2409.
