Actually, it does, in the Dominion Featured Series, it mentions that the 2800 event occurs late 2409.

    Does it really?

    Hmmm.

I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. :D
You're right. The work here is very important.

Unless the Stardates on our in-game Captain's logs (and/or Fleet News) have been reset, it's 2413 now. It was 2409 during beta in 2009 and moving on a 1:1 scale with real time.

I believe the original intent was to have us starting in 2409 and then time would advance - as is show in our mission stardates. Unfortunately, sometime after all Launch, people starting remember things like the Energy Ribbon should be back in 2410, and then Cryptic decided the calender never advanced - probably because they wanted to get the Ribbon into the game at some point. So the game went from time moving to a 2409 stasis, but they never changed the stardates.

Of course we've heard the calender will advance to 2410 next year, so we can assume the Energy Ribbon is probably going to be in Season 9.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Or easier... Someone thought it might be nice to have our Logs Display in Stardate but forgot about that the game doesn't progress in Real Time...

I go by the simple idea that Q is messing with time again, looping 2409 over and over with minute changes just to keep it fresh - only out captains realising the loop but having no way to prove it (hence why you can fight over Kerrat so often, or do the same mission again)

..or failing that; my Klinks are just too drunk to care! :)

Could a Moderator please move this topic to here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=891791

I didn't notice that other topic when I created this one. Seeing as they're focused on the same thing, makes sense to put them together.

2409 simply does not make sense. At all. 2409 is the year the players' careers start, and by endgame, they are Vice Admiral or Major General. Even a most optimistic assessment would put 20 years between those two points.

So it is more like 2430 now when we reach the Sphere.

It would be nice if there was some thought put into that time issue for better immersion.

You mean the rest of you don't periodically hit the tailor to "age" your toons for exactly this reason?

Regarding the issues with promotions, I'd prefer it if the pre level 50 content could be backdated to 2405 or so and mission text changed to accommodate that. Then every 10 levels, you could get invited to a New Year's Party or Klingon holiday event, indicating that a year has passed. So that endgame is 2409.

And yes, this means shuffling the timeline of events so the Vega Colony attack happened in 2405 (or maybe even 2400).

Why do people keep insisting on bringing logic and cohesion to Cryptic's plot and settings. Just think of it as a combination of the"Year of Hell" and "Groundhog Day". Trust me catharsis is not far away after that point.
