I'm having trouble with the connection since the last weekend. Heavy lag, frequent SNR/Disconnected-issues and problems with actively participating in any queued mission.

Are you already using one of the proxies available via the launcher options? (If not, you could try that, or if you are even try NOT using it.)

....
Is there anything *I* could do to solve or is it because of the infrastructure between middle-european and american servers?
Looks like the issue is with your ISP (unity-media.net) and its gateway to the Trans-Atlantic cable provider tinet.net
The only thing you can really do is complain to your ISP, and ask them to diagnose a issue with packet drop with your connection to the STO servers...
You also might want to post your diagnostic results in the network section of the PWE Tech Support site, as the PWE gateway might be having problems as well...

Doing that now. I can't contact my ISP before tomorrow, but thanks for the quick and helpful reply.
This is a recurring problem for many weeks by now that on some days Europeans have this issue. It's a pity and as it is limited to STO and Cryptic repeatedly gave a damn abouts its non-American userbase and felt no need for action I doubt that a few STO players calling their ISPs is going to change this.

The reality is that Cryptic/PWE has very little control over the Trans-Atlantic cable links. Your ISP, in their choice on what backbone service they choose to connect to has a much greater influence over this then what Cryptic/PWE has...

Actually, I'm generally experiencing no to little trouble. Sometimes I have had a little lag for a moment or two, but aside from season7's and LoR's launch weeks I was able to play with okay-connectivity on a regular basis. It just got really bad now and didn't change over the last days so I decided to call for help.

I've tried that, no luck.
