It can be a very nice artillery ship if built for plasma.
Load The Rom Exp beam array fore (in the first firing slot to advantage its no power cost and boost your other guns dmg)
Put DHCs in your other slots. (Maybe a Torp if you like; I like the Rom Plasma)
Load Turrets aft (inc cutter)
Put the Adapted Maco set on the sucker for it's accuracy and placate smack downs (you ain't going to be moving so you need it)
Battle plan: Move to range dumping fighters when ever you need to replace losses, Park and head but you enemy to death.
You can fit Cannon abilities, 2 tac teams, 2 Emergency to Shield (don't use aux your fighters need it), AND you can get reverse shield polarity to recharge that shield in sticky situations, then use your sci for hazard (you'll need a sci debuff scrubber)
Get an Attack pattern Omega for escaping tractors (it's actually quite good for that)
Your ship is now a nearly indestructible shield brick in space with a LONG reach (fighters) AND sub sys targeting...
I very much enjoy my Jem'hadar Dreadnought and Heavy Escort Carrier.
I can get my JHDC to equal a "Low end" Scimitar in an STF. I just wish Cryptic hadn't attached the attack ship pets to the actual Jem'hadar Attack Ship. I have no interest in actually flying one and I'm sure not buying one just to put some frigates on my ship.
The JHEC is more for PvP use (lol). In my opinion, it's the best "flight-deck-escort" in game. If you're in the ques and you see a JHEC with double fore torps, that's probably me.
Either way, I like their looks and their boff layouts. Alas, they are out of your price range.
Agreed I can't get my engy to fly anything else, he does occasionally hop in a tuffi for a bit for more doffing but other than that he's been in the Kora for ever. Nothing else I try works as well for me. It's just so Darn convenient, while still doing everything I need it to do.
EDIT:
That was a misquote I got a happy clicky finger, one sec while I Q the correct post
I own the D'Kora on my Engineer, two JHAS on my TACS, A Recluse on a sci, and the Temporal Destroyer/ Science ship and they are all pretty damn awesome.
The only one I really regretted was the Jem'hadar Dreadnaught Carrier. It's been the only ship I completely failed in.
My most comfortable ship - The D'Kora without a doubt.
My most fun this - JHAS.
My best cc/ support - Temporal Sci.
My best defense - Recluse.
I gave a mate a Galor so never got to fly that beauty, but who knows perhaps one day.
Of the lockbox ships that I have tried I really loved the Temporal science vessel for my sci character and the Jemhadar escort is pretty good for my tac guy. Really don't understand what is so special about Galor, tried it a couple times but couldn't really make it work for me. Really would have loved to though, somehow it would be really cool to fly that.

Crazy opinions. Mirror DSSV = Pointy spin ship glory.
