Will ground combat in the sphere include structures like the Maginot line or Normandy?

Optional for that mission involves infiltrating a giant robotic maid and activating the self-destruct.

In order to activate the self-destruct, you have to knock a darth vader knockoff into it with "magic powers".

I do know one thing. The devs better not give the map(s) any day/night cycles.

There's only one unfinished dyson sphere related map on tribble so far, and since it's a queue map a day/night cycle probably wouldn't apply anyway, but I feel the need to point out they didn't make any of the other mistakes that they were preemptively accused of in multiple rage threads, so I think it's safe to say day/night is covered.

Has anyone else figured out what this whole Dyson Sphere boils down to if it involves the Voth?
Fighting Voth inside the hull of the Dyson Sphere...

We're basically fighting lizard-men deep inside the 'planet's' crust. (Never mind the fact that the 'planet' is inside out.)
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...

Dyson Spheres are larger than a planet. They are at least bigger than a star. The most common instance of Dyson Sphere in Science Fiction is a sphere with a radius of 1 AU. Until the dev blog states the size of the sphere, then we can safely assume that it is bigger than a planet.

    *Rolls his eyes*

The size of the sphere wasn't the point of the statement. The point was the appearant use of a B-grade sci-fi movie plotline...

I think they need to fix that curvature. At the moment, the very bottom doesn't curve properly like the interior shell should like the background does. Instead it curves the other way like a regular planet would.

I heard that one of the missions will require you to rescue a princess from the detention level, then destroy a super beam weapon capable of blowing up planets and finally disabling the tractor beams so you can escape.

    lol...

DV to OWK: "This isn't the tractor beam you want to turn off."

OWK to DV: "And this isn't a Jedi master you want to mess with."

DV to OWK: "At least you're taller than Yoda."

OWK to DV: "Good point. But not good enough to save your armored skin! En garde!"

DV to OWK: "I don't speak French."

    French soldier: "But I do."

DV to FS: "Is that why you have that outrrrrrrageous accent?"

FS to DV: "Of course, you silly Jedi Knight-a. *sniff*"

Why not? Dyson spheres potentially have some system to create night.

Actually just started watching Attack on Titan, but that's just another one of the horseshoe spires in the distance. Remember, this is all a work in progress still.

The curve at the terminator looks a bit awkward, though. To me it looks like it's coming down almost perpedicular, or curing towards the camera but not quickly enough, like it should continue behind the ground instead of connecting.

I admit it might be an illusion caused by the stripes running through it, the terrain itself doesn't give much sense of angle. What are those supposed to be, anyway?

Really? Because it looks like the bottom is, because the haze of the atmosphere looks like it's arching over rather than curving with the concave nature one expects from the interior of the shell.

    See here: http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy70/KojiroJames/Itsconvex_zpsbc84e432.jpg

The red line drawn straight across reveals that the top of the atmosphere bulges up, as the edges do not touch it. The other lines highlight how the atmosphere is actually curving. It's convex, not concave.

    Huh. True.

Though I'd at least like some sort of tech somewhere on the sphere's surface glowing/moving when 'night' is activated and/or perhaps in-universe technobable explaining how it works. But yeah, it's plausible. We're already granting a Dyson sphere exists in the game, why not? :p

I mean the Voth City ship is ohhhhh 11km long and Doug Drexler said the Enterprise-J is said to be 2 miles long (3.2km long). Don't tell me you want to blow her up.........in size bigger than that? :P

They create nighttime by having orbital platforms that block the sunlight.

It is really doubtful that the entire Dyson Sphere is filled with air. Chances are that there is a barrier 1 to 20 km above the surface that holds in the air. This barrier could be modified to generate a night display. Having a huge piece of metal to create a night sky is too much effort to deal with and can cause immense damage if it fails.

Uhm, B-grade sci-fi movie plotlines pretty much sums up the essence of the Star Trek IP.

I know... they're just usually not so obvious about it. Someone in the Sinister Coverup Department is slipping...
