You would be thinking that because these ships is basically end game starships they would have the maximum number of consoles that a ship could have (10) or at least 9 and a hanger slot. Since this is also the top of the line starship that a player should be able to get, it should also have the capability of using any universal consoles that is available to the faction that it is from. Of course Universal consoles like the Aquarius - escort or the HoH'SuS Bird-of-Prey shouldn't be able to be used because they are starships in themselves and nearly as large as the 1000 day Veteran ship.
I know the Federation would love to be able to equip the cloaking device to the Chimera and the KDF would love to have those Disruptor Autocannons. It would also be nice to be able to use sets like the one for the Ar'kif retrofit and Ar'kala on the Romulan 1000 day Veteran starship.
Would this ability make these ships over powered. When you look at the ability of all the Universal console (9) on one starship, no. Seeing that I have found that having more than three universal consoles on a single starship puts you at a disadvantage rather than an advantage. Now having the ability to use all of the Scimitar Universal consoles on this ship might, but a way to counter this would be that the Theleron Pulse would only be available to be used on the Scimitar and its variants.
So how about giving the 1000 Day veteran starship another console slot or a hanger bay slot?

The game is already far too cloak-heavy, IMO.
Anyway, I think the only thing needed (and probably the most realistic "ask") would be a fleet version (locked to 1000-day vets, of course.)
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev
I would support the idea of a T1 Shipyard Fleet version for 1 Module - the ship could only be purchased by Vets who have the free version. I don't believe the ship needs to by Fleet quality for free, though.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
The observation that the ship has 9 and not 10 consoles resurfaces in the forum regularly.
So far no 10th console got added, and let me again state why I don't think it is necessary:
The ships are very maneuverable, have high hull strength already at fleet ship level, a much better boff layout than many other ships and a really awesome console ability that doesn't require a mostly 1 weak and 1 so-so console set as it basically is a two-in-one console.
I also don't think any problem gets solved or more ships of not-so-exciting qualities solved if you just slap a hangar bay on it.
The Rommie version isn't so much if any better than the Mogai Retro, but for the KDF this is really the best "destroyer" style Escort, the same can be said for the Federations.
I really would not bet on a fleet version or a 10 console update anytime soon.

Eeeh... Having them able to use any console is a bit wonky. I would say no to that idea.
However, making them all a little different could be nice and the Chimera needs SOMETHING.
Here is my idea for this:
Give the Chimera a single Hangar.
Give the Pegh'qu a little Additional Hull Resistance and Weapon Damage boost (probably only as long as its console is equipped).
Give the Daeinos a better turn rate to keep up with the likes of the Defiant Retro. (It looks way too sleek and slender to be so sluggish)
Keep everything else the same besides maybe giving all of them one more console slot.
One Engineering for the Chimera.
One Tactical for the Pegh'qu.
One Science of the Daeinos.
This would make each fly a bit differently and would certainly make it less obvious which was king and which just sucked.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Fleet Veteran ship wouldn't be a bad idea. I see the point in that.
Though, I do not see the idea changing the current veteran ship. On my main account I got it (just to say). It's a gimmick, a little extra fun or whatever. Not really a usable OP ship to compare with C-store ships. It does as intended: decent.

Just about the only thing I'd like to see changed is the transformer console to become an innate ability.
No extra console slot required, merely free one of those already there up.
Other than that very minor gripe, I rather like the vet ships as they are.
Decent destroyers, giving a different option at end game.

This seems right to me. Though I would make it available at T4 or T5. Speaking as a vet I don't think its to much to ask of me to help grind my fleet up to get my fleet destroyer.

How about we compromise at T3? T3 seems to be a break-point where even dedicated small fleets tend to burn out.
I don't think being in a large fleet should be a requirement for this.

Probably the best idea out therefor any possible enhancements to the veteran ship.
That would pretty much make it a fleet level ship with the only downside that the "tenth console" is fixed to the transformer ability.

I'd go for this as well. The only downside is that it's work with no benefit for Cryptic, which would naturally push it down the priority scale. A Fleet version would sell FSMs...

You know, I still use basic, non-cstore, non-fleet ships
...which explains why you think the 1000-day ships are overpowered.

You know, I still use basic, non-cstore, non-fleet ships, and I use Phasers and Photon Torpedoes. This is a STAR TREK game, I'll stay with the ships as they're (more or less) supposed to be.
And who are you to say what the ships are and are not supposed to be?
I disagree with the idea of tying veteran awards to fleet tiers.
I would rather see veteran award ships as incentive to subscribe with its own tiered store with 5, or 10, levels of equipment.
Have the store items be a variation of fleet and reputation, but use Lobi as the currency. Items would be as equally compelling as fleet and reputation equipment for different reasons.
2.7 years of paid subscription, or a $300USD one-time LTS charge, plus a veteran store pricing model that encourages additional key purchases to acquire additional lobi (in-game EC or save-up the stipend).

Why do we need a variation on Fleet and Rep when we already have them available?
The point of making it a T1 Fleet purchase was to just use the system already in place for Fleet-quality ships. The real goal is just to give Vets a way of getting the Fleet-quality version of the ship for a cheap price: 1 Module.
It's easy to get a T1 Fleetbase. It's easy to get 1 Module. Why make it harder then it needs to be with a new Rep store system and Lobi?

Seeing as how Lockbox ships got a "free" upgrade to Fleet stats, I don't see why the same cannot be done for Veteran ships.
They both are all potentially large cash bringers, as there are quite a few people who will pay hundreds of dollars for either.

Setting aside the tiered store and lobi model for a moment, why force fleet membership?
That it is easy to get a T1 Fleetbase is still imposing a gating mechanism on subscribers.
That it is easy to find a fleet with open doors to access fleet ships is still imposing a gating mechanism on subscribers.
If using an existing system is the baseline, then the shipyard model in place can serve the same purpose without a fleet requirement.
Regarding getting a module, sure, let the in-place system that identifies the player as a veteran at the shipyard require a module as part of the price.

The point is the Fleet Shipyard's purpose is to provide Fleet-quality ships from lower Tier ships for players who want to pay for the upgrade.
The goal of this thread is to get a Fleet-quality Vet ship. IE, a lower Tier ship being made Fleet-quality.
What's being asked for is precisely what the Fleet Shipyard was designed to do. We don't need to reinvent the wheel here.

Providing fleet quality ships from lower tier ships available to any player is a merit and benefit of fleet membership.
Regardless of the merit of fleet membership, placing an upgrade to a subscriber benefit ship is a gating mechanism.
Gating a veteran ship behind a fleet membership gate is not a subscriber benefit.
Why gate subscribers by forcing fleet membership to access an upgraded ship restricted to subscribers?
Use the existing ship-yard and provide a subscriber token to acquire the upgraded ship. Use active subscription day counts as the measure. It's the existing gating mechanism for subscribers, so wheels aren't reinvented.

I have proposed a Veteran Store on the forums before. The Veteran Store would have numerous items like the current veteran rewards and new ones. 3 Veteran Tokens are rewarded for each month subscribed and 1 Veteran Token for every 500 Zen transferred to Star Trek Online. This way a F2Per could purchase the Chimera if they spent enough money on Zen. Charging Lobi for it would be a very bad idea.
As others have said in this thread, Tier 1 Shipyard and 1 Fleet Ship Module would be perfect for a Fleet Chimera.

IMO they look cool with the attack mode animation, and that makes them good enough for me.....
