Seriously, almost every shape can be associated with something rather unappetizing, rediculus or human reproduction.
I think with a few tweaks this ship would be really cool to have, especially as a Starfleet analogy to the Moonbosh. (which isn't a beauty too btw.)

Btw, i have never seen a dog with such a flat head. To me it looks more like a showerhead.
But of course calling it a "shower head" is not as half as decrying as comparing it with a scooting dog.

My point is that we should give this design a chance, since almost all other new Stafleet cruiser designs look like a modernized excelsior (which i absolutely HATE).

I apologize, I really wasn't trying to be mean, it just kinda hit me when I saw those couple of ships.

Kinda the same way the Klingon Fleet Starbases look, to me, like floating IHOP's (International House of Pancakes).

On the other hand I really like this one that was posted:

hum u know u have a point, the ship schematics and layout would have been in Voyagers databank and they took the slipstream drive from it seems odd that starfleet would go "hay lets build this ship for real"

^That looks a hell of a lot like a Star Cruiser variant, tbh. Maybe that's the source of the hull plan.

Allright, i don't want to annoy you ppl with this ship, but i just had a radical idea how to implement it into STO.

What about making it a Science Cruiser?
Instead of a Heavy Escort Carrier like the Akira in STO, they could make it a science focused Cruiser.

    Tactical: Lt.
    Engineering: Cmdr.
    Science: Lt.Cmdr.
    Universal: Lt.; Ensign

    Consoles: 3, 3, 4

    Weapons 4/4
    Shield Mod: 1.35
    Hull: 39000
    Turn Rate: 10
    Devices: 4
    Crew: 850

    Bonus Power:
    +10 shield power
    +10 auxiliary power

    no DHCs

    Abilities:
    Subsystem Targeting
    Sensor Analysis
    Antimatter Overcharge*

    * Activating this, will make weapons do not drain weapon power, instead boosting weapon power with each firing cycle. This can be useful on this ship to fulfill its science or engineering role that has a lot of ship power in auxiliary, needing a quick damage boost. (similar to the Romulan Singularity Overcharge, but lasting longer)

I know they're not part of Starfleet yet, but Daniels said there will be Xindi serving in the Federation in the 26th century.

It's unlikely the Sphere Builders will only show up in the Enterprise era, then wait a few centuries until they come back in the 26 th century, so have them show up in 2409, and let the player be Archer who convinces the Xindi to help defeating the Sphere Builders. In exchange, the Xindi decide to share their ship designs with the Federation.

Et voila: Starfleet has its own Xindi Aquatic ships. As the Enterprise could fit in the belly of the ship, making a carrier of this ship would make sense.

The one ship I'd love to see in STO....

I'd love to have the scout class Hermes

Just a saucer and one nacelle....It would be weak obviously, but could be the start of a whole new class of ship..The Scout class
Fast, Agile, Mid to Low range DMG, with a nice boff layout would be interesting to me.
maybe throw on 3 device slots...
2 Tac consoles, 3 Engi Consoles, 3 sci consoles....
    Shield modifier of 1.25%
    All Systems +5 power

    Would basically be a Shuttle/Escort..
Hehe I know this would be not the most useful ship, but I just LOVE how the little Hermes looks... Its so cute with its little saucer and 1 nacelle :):):)

^The Hermes is TOS early movie-era ship. It belongs in a museum as much as the Excelsior and Constitution. You want a single-nacelle ship with a similar role, go for the Freedom-class.

Cryptic may not give a flying **** about story logic and internal consistency anymore, but some of us still do.

True the Hermes, Excelsior and Constitution class could be museum relics.
But who is to say Starfleet couldnt Re-Issue these platforms, with up to date technology.

I dont mind the classics being in the game, so long as there is some understanding that these ships have been re-issued with the latest Federation technology.
Furthurmore, It would be nice if their designs actually looked upgraded..instead of looking exactly as the did in the TOS movies..

Now, I agree... a standard Constitution Class (or any classic) should get blown to smitherines by any modern ship... but there is no reason to believe a reissued version would be at any disadvantage.
Now we could argue whether or not StarFleet would even bother re issuing classic platforms... but I think the person who really wants to fly an excelsior should not be punished for being a fan of a certain era of starship.

    There, there. :)

Seriously, would be nice if this thread could simply remain about ppl posting what ship they'd like to see, without getting jumped by others. I, for one, occassionally look here, out of sheer curiosity, to see what ppl's ideas of a good ship are. No judgment required. And if Cryptic at some point thinks, "Hey, you know what?! That's a good idea!" then all the better.

These are some nice looking ships. :)

I am sure Cryptics devs would add some "cool" spikes and armor plates on them.
They surely would change some relations between saucer/engineering hull/nacelles to completely destroy some well balanced ship models in order to make them look "cool" in their eyes.

See, that's why I've always wanted the Freedom class in game. Sure, the Freedom itself isn't pretty, but here's proof that cool looking single nacelle designs are totally do-able; so it could be worth having that configuration in the game if Cryptic made some new variants of their own go with it.

Same reasoning applies to the Challenger; there's some great vertical nacelle alignment ship designs out there.

The ship I really want to see added to STO is the New Orleans Class.

It has the styling of the Galaxy, but in a bit smaller and more manageable size. I like a good mid-sized ship, and it seems all the mid-sized ships in this game are 4 nacelles, which I loathe.

I'd buy a New Orleans class from the C-Store in a heartbeat! :)

I had an idea, using something I'm keeping in mind for a fanfic I'm thinking about.

Lets consider this a more combat oriented ship. Similar in size to a Sovereign class, or a Star Cruiser, just a bit bulkier. This could be like a Dreadnought design, maybe.

Looks-wise, thick body with hide-away warp nacelles that hide behind thick armor plating when not at warp speeds. Elongated saucer, something that makes it look long and sleek. Two long attachments along the bottom half of the ship, them being a pair of phaser lances, both have to fire at the same time.

Performance would be... Turning rate of 8, 48,000 hull.

4 weapon slots in front, four in back. Any beam arrays mounted all have Fire At Will as a constant effect. Makes it good in a battle against numerous opponents, but difficult to focus fire on one target. One hangar bay, but perhaps limited to Delta Flyers or Peregrin fighters.

One Lt. Commander tac, one Lt Tac, one Lt. Commander Engineering, one Lt. Science

Three engineering console slots, 3 Science slots, and 4 Tactical slots.

Hope that doesn't make me look too stupid...

Do you remember the (tier 3) Heavy Cruiser?
Much underrated and forgotten by almost anyone....

Belive it or not, there is a Tier 5 and even a Fleet version of it.;)

I think that ship needs some unique BOFF/console layout and a Dreadnought  version. (no fifth nacelle, but a phaser lance)
Personally i would love to have the D'Koras BOFF/Console Layout on that ship or even better, Cryptic could make it an affordable version of the Chimera.
(same BOFF/Console Layout, but no special consoles)

I can agree with that. Although, I would like to have a bigger version of it. Near-Galaxy size, preferable. Modernize it's looks a bit, maybe give it Galaxy Nacelles.

True, it looks really small next to a Nebula class.

Personally, i like the short nacelles PICTURE, but i think there should be a option to set the upper and lower nacelles even (better said, remove the offset on Dakota and Stargazer Class Engineering Hull).
Or they could create a less high version of the Cheyenne Hull (the ones with no offset), so the upper and lower Nacelles aren't so far apart.

I agree with the Galaxy like Nacelles, i would go a step further and would like to see a venture- version of that design. (but please no more super long nacelles)

I used the short double nacelles on mine too. I used the bigger, longer singles on the bottom, and to be honest, I really liked it. I think there's some potential there for an interesting new ship design.

Yeah the short double nacelles look bada$$ IMO. I wish Cryptic would release some more ship parts like that for other ships too.
But i never liked that "nacelle glued on saucer" look from the nebula, that just gives me the creeps.

I think that quad nacelle design really could be something.
There where even some Excelsior prototypes having 4 nacelles (althrough i hate the Excel, it looked pretty cool).

Another thing would be to change the Chimera design a bit. They could set the main deflector "belly" more to the back, almost behind the saucer. That would make that ship look way better IMO.
But since i will never be able to get my hands on it, i don't care. :P

    Something like a Battlestar, huh?

I must admit, I do find that intriguing. I wonder how a fed ship with impulse integrated into the warp nacelles would look. That would keep them shorter and fatter, making yreodred happy.
