I'm not sure about that, but I personally have no interest in flying an off-faction ship. I'd rather wait for the faction to be playable.
Thanks for the expansion that had "as much content as the last"
    9 Episodes = 30+ episodes...?

To the min/maxer, perhaps. Others may not care about that as much and just want to pilot their favorite ship.
There is nothing min/max about looking at the Excelsior Retrofit and recognizing that the engineer ensign slot is a complete waste of space.

Not sure that's true. Access to the server to play the game is the service.
The provided content is also a service. Or do you fantasize about it being a physical product?

There is a huge difference here. People spending money to upgrade an old car is entirely different than asking the auto manufacturer to upgrade the old car for free.
There have been a great many truly ridiculous analogies posted on the STO forums over the years, but you have posted the Grand Prize Blue Ribbon winner.

Do you actually believe that Cryptic physically manufactures each ship before magically transforming it into computer code for use by one player in the game? Do you actually believe that Cryptic would have to extract each copy from the game, the magically transform it back into a physical starship to perform upgrades on it before magically transforming it back into computer code to deliver it to the player with its new stats? Is that what you think happens every time you swap out a console or weapon on your ship in the game?

Unless you actually believe all of that then you must realize that there is zero comparison between re-manufacturing automobiles in the real world and editing some code in a computer game.

I am a little tired of them although I use them at times.

Currently my fed tac is in a Fleet Assault cruiser with Sovvy skin, also using only phaser beams and quantum torps on it to make it look more canon. My KDF tac is in a BOP, a Hohsus currently, although this thread makes me want to put it back in a fleet brel. My Rom was in a Scimitar, but been running a T'Varo and Mogai more lately.

I don't really enjoy seeing them fly around ESD, Quo'nos, or New Romulus, but I see them less often than faction ships. I prefer flying faction ships, if my Risian Corvette counts as a fed ship.

Yeah, let's get rid of all that Trek rubbish and introduce some Battlestars, Imperial Super star Destroyers and the Death Star, oh let's not forget some Peacekeeper command Carriers. ;)

Who is talking about other IP, don't use a strong man argument when I'm talking about Trek IP and Trek aliens....but the Millennium Falcon was in Star Trek first Contact so sure let's add that :P

Imagine that, people want a Star Trek experience from a Star Trek game.

Let me guess, you liked the flying pink ewoks with hearts on their chests selling chocolate cherries in Star Wars Galaxies, didn't you...?

ps. NOT a joke, they actually did that...

I'm sorry I did not know flying a Star Trek Alien ship took away the Trek experience, how dare the player go out of their way to get an Alien ship, I mean my god how dare that person have a different experience, and want to feel like Kirk who stole a BOP, or Sisko who used an enemy ship, or Archer who stole a cell ship...Don't they know they can't do that because a bunch Trekkie purest Dicktator said he can't.

I could really careless what they added as long as it's from the show, or something related to it.....if they wanted to add a Pink Mugato care bear looking thing I could careless, if someone wants to spend money on that good for them, if someone does not good for them as well, but players should worry about their own account and not what others do on theirs.

I have to say that I have noticed an increase and not a decrease in the number of alien ships. Just the other day I warped in to one of the space stations and had what looked like an octopus flying above me only to realize that it was a Suliban cellship. I realize that these ships can be considered the spoils of war but, I would think that Starfleet would take those and try to reverse engineer what tech works better instead of giving one captain that ship. I personally prefer flying the faction ships for my toons. If others want to fly these things I guess that is their prerogative.

So far I have only 1 "alien" ship, the Breen ship. Which I do break out at times, since I kinda go through my ship selection as I go. I do have hopes for the Andorian and Jem'Hadar ship in the future. So then I will have those to play around with.

To me I rather have more of the "in house" ships. Like Andorian, Vulcan, etc that is part of the Federation. Same goes with KDF and Romulan as well. A few "Alien" ships here and there isn't bad. I call them spoils of war. So why not use them. That is the story behind the Breen ship I got.

Yes, daddy i promise to behave... lol.

Well if i buy a Star Trek game where i can play a Starfleet/KDF/ROM officer i expect those factions to be like more or less in the shows. One or two very rare alien ships would be ok, but STO is beyond good and evil.

    Why so hostile?

I was just saying that the individual factions ship are getting more and more behind in favour of some random alien ships that don't even belong to those factions.

Sorry, it's not personal, it's business.

Cryptic wants to make money. They make money by selling the new shiny (ships). It takes three times as much effort to create a new shiny for each faction then it does to create just one alien ship and stuff it into the lockbox.

    It's not rocket science.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev

Who's hostile? are you half Betazoid???

lets see they just released 4 lockbox ships, and 12 Romulan ships ...and before the Romulans it was Federation ships...In fact they finally cut down on Fed ships this is the longest we have gone without a new federation ship.

    ah yes...
    ...thanks for the conversation.

Gee and here I thought the Star Trek experience was to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations.

You know Aliens . . . and if they are advanced enough, their starships.

I'm also pretty certain that the Federation is mostly made up of (drumroll) aliens. Many of whom design and build their own starships.

So pardon me if I have no problem seeing Cryptic add more Alien designed starships for us to play with.

The problem i see is that there are too many alien ships in Starfleet. I would be perfectly ok with alien ships if there where some neutral faction using them.

Really I thought they came because it went F2P?:P

Apparently enough players come for the Star Trek alien ships or Cryptic would have retired lockbox ships in favor for something else.

The only thing i am tired off is people who believe they have skill because they fly a Scimitar or high end lockbox ship.

I like my breen ship and Risian Corvette, but currently i fly my Gal-X, Mirror escorts and Intrepid regular + retrofit a lot more.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
