Doom ... overly concerned about a fate that may not materialize (especially if the transporters are on the fritz again) ... stressed out until hands, arms, legs and feet are all in constant motion (also known as either flailing about or dancing) ... in dire need of caffeine (preferably triple-strength -- anything less hasn't been shown to be effective on the Garfield-in-the-morning types) ... screaming useless at brick walls that have no comm units on them ... ogling Uhura (with Spock nearby) ... arguing about whether Sherlock or the Doctor are the better of the two, and which of them came first (the egg says it's Sherlock; the chicken says it's the Doctor) ... etc.
We're DOOOOOMED!!! Cryptic is making us grind for the 4th anniversary instead of just giving us a basic crappy ship, and then making us buy or grind and join a fleet for the fleet version, or buying it on the C store as a 3 pack DOOOOMM!!!!!!!!

At the rate it's going, the anniversary 'i hate this grind' thread of doom will surpass the official doom thread before the event goes live. It could be the strongest indicator yet that the game is doommmmedd!!!
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
I started this thread awhile back as a satire on all the negativity you find here on the forums. The last week has really been a doom filled week. I myself have even had some concerns - not that the game is doomed, just upset at some of the optional grind that was not expected.
However, I would like to state some things that have bothered me about the 'feedback' which has really gotten nasty and doomish.
First this is a business and is owned by Perfect world. Their goal like most businesses is to make as much money as possible.
Most of the people that the anger is directed towards are the devs. Even Brandon has been getting a lot of flack for just reporting what he is told to report. Above him are the devs who do make game decisions, however, as employees of perfect world are most likely given targets to try and meet. I am quite confident in saying that I believe everyone from Brandon on up - loves their jobs at STO and are not doing anything deliberately to make your game less fun. Remember that this is their career and their livelihood, I highly doubt that they sit around think of ways to sink their ship. For all we know PWE wanted even more ways to monetize the game and the devs have be jumping through hoops to lessen the impact. I would bet this is not something most of you have even considered.
From what I hear Sto is still one of the most forgiving and flexible f2p games on the market. We are also a fairly small niche market as trek gamers are not as many as some of the giant mmos. It is important to remember that someone must pay to keep the game running. This is just a fact of business. Seldom does anyone like change if they feel it takes away from what they had before, but the game is moving forward - the game is still developing, and that is the most important thing.
Some day doom will catch up with STO just as the sun will someday explode. I just don't see either happening in the near future.
Also.... if Cryptic doesn't find ways to separate players from their money we will have to switch from complaining about events we dislike to complaining that the game died....
DOOM? I haven't played that oldskool FPS in a long time. :P
Or Duke Nuk'em saving his babes. :P

Doom isn't equalitarian enough! Doom must come to all! Doom the suffragette, Doom the second class citizen, Doom the ... oh, who am I kidding. Doom will never be top of the heap. It's doomed.

Doom will pick up again once the anniversary is here and thousands of players demand Cryptic buy more servers because they can't log in on launch day.

Any bets on how many bugs the quick swap system is going to bring?
