Reinstalling This Game On An Existing/New PC

I have of course back up's (including of the games installation file) but if a situation arose in which either a complete installation of a PC's software has to be performed (say because of a kaput hard disc) or one gets a new PC preinstalled with Windows 8 or 9 or whatever( whenever) can in either case the game be reinstalled from a back up of the installation file? Say in a USB stick. Alternatively can the file just be redownloaded and reinstalled from the site again and in either case when account details are put back in the shard will everything upon the games loading be as you have progressed in the game before?

    The launcher will check the files and re-download everything that needs to be updated.

    You can save time by adding the .hogg files to your backup, since that is where 99.998% of the game is located.

    Your characters, on the other hand, are stored on the game servers.

    However, you do need to run the install program at least once, to set up the proper registry entries, and set the correct file permissions on the directory structure. Once the install starts downloading files, you can quit the program and copy your backup files...
