Lagging In PVE's and PVP's

Star Trek Online was starting to lag badly for me after a long maintenance session that was done a while back, but since the Romulan faction was added and the game interface and graphics upgraded PVE games and PVP games are lagging so much they are unplayable to the point of the game completely freezing . I am reinstalling the game now hoping that will help.
