Who says it was taken down early, there is clearly 2 dates from Cryptic going about, 1 date was an error - you cannot say which one was the error, only they can.

Just because the 5th suits you, does not mean that was the correct date, so how about getting off your high horse and just consider the 4th was the right date, as proven by, it's been turned off.

Sorry, but the game does not revolve around you or anyone else, who, out of 35 days, decided to plan 36 - life lesson, don't leave things until last minute

    Dear Cryptic Apologist,

Not only are you quick to judge someone you've never met and talk about 'life lessons' (bet I could teach you a few myself) but here are two locations where it was stated that the event would end on Monday August 5th @ 10 am PDT:

    http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=941961
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=928221

Regardless, how sweet of you to think of 'lil 'ole me and take it upon yourself to try to point out the fallacy of my ways when I have done nothing wrong whatsoever. Take care.

Unfortunately the main blog post was updated to say the 4th:

For the past week, whenever someone asked how much longer they had to get their ship, people responded with "until the 4th". There were a few that claimed the 5th, but most people answering the question knew it was the 4th.

Still, it's not unreasonable to expect that if Cryptic says "the 5th" in two out of three locations and "the 4th" in only one location, to assume it's the 5th.

I'm sure that stating it would end on the 5th was an error, but to make that error in two out of three locations and then have that information go uncorrected for weeks... That's disappointing.

((Update! (7/19/13): As announced in the recent State of the Game article, we will be extending the time needed to get pearls by a couple of days for those who may have missed a day ? the new end date has been moved from August 2nd to August 5th, 2013 at 10AM PDT.))

We also hope you have been enjoying the recent changes to the planet Risa. We are thankful for all the great feedback we have received about this new seasonal event, one of the biggest being the requests for swimwear. It is our goal to be able to introduce more seasonal outfits, including swimwear, when we update the event for next year. Much like the Winter Event, we will continue to add new features and rewards every time the event rolls around, so look forward to some great additions to both events in the coming year. Additionally, we will also be extending the time needed to get pearls by a couple of days for those who may have missed a day ? the new end date has been moved from August 2nd to August 5th, 2013 at 10AM PDT.

And So I want my 40 missing pearls!!

I also noticed that the event ended way earlier than it was stated here,

    http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=928221

"the new end date has been moved from August 2nd to August 5th, 2013 at 10AM PDT".

While there was plenty of time to get the corvette before this isn't the point of contention, players trusted in the given information and now all their contributions are worthless as they didn't complete the project in time.

Who would not foam at this? People with tight schedules have to plan hard to make the deadline and get screwed over by such "mistakes" and promises broken by Cryptic.

The Risian festival is/was great, but it is marred and turned sour by such mistakes.

I would also like to point out that many people erroneously believed they could get pearls till the 15th, as this is marked as the end of the festival. I wonder why they Corvette can't be available till then as well.

Some improvements to ingame notification about the duration of the event AND perhaps informing the left hand what the right hand did would work wonders. It is not the first time that timezones and deadlines were mixed up.

Such infuriating mistakes are among the things are driving people away from STO and Cryptic in general and by now I think this should be a thing of the past, STO is no longer run by a small team on life support, after all.

    This.

At the risk of being shot down in flames for saying this I think its just a case of miss-communication, Cryptic aren't lying, they just c**ked up - Big style.

As Longasc says "Left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing".

And before someone accuses me of it I'm not being a Cryptic apologist here. They DO need to resolve this as it is an error on their part.

Now isn't this clear evidence that we NEED the event calendar back on the STO homepage? One source for all dates & info, not multiple posts carrying conflicting information buried in the forum somewhere.

It was a shortsighted move removing the calendar in the first place.

Don't worry instead of posting the event calander on their own website and forums, it will soon be moved to twitter. Everyone join twitter, it is the new official website of STO.

So you cannot supply a link? Yeah, I look at the in-game calendar. The same one that says the event goes until the 15th right?

    Let's summarize.

    1. Cryptic creates event.
    2. People complain that they don't have enough time to gather pearls.
    3. Cryptic extends event by three days.
    4. Cryptic makes mistake, event ends a day early.
    5. Forum rage ensues.

Lesson learned by Cryptic: Next time, don't bother extending the event.

    This^

lol at the title of the forum post. they got the date wrong in the blog, it sucks for the people wanting to get ships, however there was bags of time to get the ship.

this thread will make sure Cryptic never extends anything again.

Indeed. You cannot say one thing and then not do it. I mean I know the Peals can be bought for Lobi, and the Dilithium or EC for keys is easy enough to get. But still, you should have gotten your last day. If the blog says 5th Pacific time, you should get until the 5th Pacific time.

using that argument it didn't end early it ended late. since originally it was to have ended on the 2nd since they said it they had to do it. isn't this a Chinese company now? and if so it ended when it was supposed to. they said a couple of days from the 5th a couple is a 2 3 would be a few.

I did not think it should have been extended the 1st and caught grief from people there then crying about not having enough time. they get the time and still manage to not do it because people started too late. and ok the guy with real life issues life happens I was out of game 6 months and missed winter event because of real life. should everything get extended because of that?

and for the active military people I do really feel for them. but some of us have given life and limb while in service and they know it, I do not really think they will be upset about giving up a little pretend ship. and if they do they need to grow up themselves.

Why? The reason it was extended was because Cryptic borked up the mission in the first place. The ONUS is 100% on them. They screwed up the mission (was unable to complete) then extended it, then couldn't get the extended date right. What are they on?

Get your facts straight, it was extended because the first week the mission was out many players could not complete the mission. You completed 2 courses but could not complete the 3rd. Now this monkey rodeo....what the heck Cryptic?!

I have never played a game where something as simple as an end date was botched this badly. Not sure what companies you've had experiences with but I've never seen anything like this. I hope CBS/Paramount see this thread so they can see firsthand the dishonor that is being brought upon their IP.

The event was supposed to be open for 35 days and you needed to do the race 25 times to get the ship. It should take you around 5 minutes or less to complete the race each day using any of the jetpacks, even the rental version. Now given that it takes very little time and that you have 10 spare days, there is almost no excuse for not being able to get the 1000 pearls needed for the ship.

There is every excuse for players who don't have the time to get online and do the races .

You must have never played any other MMO then, because:

    EQ (SOE)
    **** (Mythic)
    EVE Online (CCP)
    CoH (Paragon<--- Now defunct)
    WoW (Blizzard)

have all screwed up dates on server events they've run, and done it more than once. This doesn't excuse the fact that Cryptic did it again here; but to say they're the only MMO developer to TRIBBLE up in this fashion just isn't accurate.

The servers are run by humans. Humans TRIBBLE up on occasion. Either they'll try to 'make good' or they won't. But, stuff like this is par for the course when it comes to the MMO industry.
