Flying High Risa Event ended early *Update: Event will run till Wed. Aug 7th 10AM PT*

According to http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=928221 we have until tomorrow to finish up our Fyling high, as it says the 5th at 10am... It's the 4th at 1pm and it's already been shut off.

ADDED: If this is going to be fixed and folks are going to be given the 1 more day they were promised, they need the WHOLE day. I had my own getting of the ship planned out to just make the deadline and you folks have screwed me over.... Thanks.

I would even ask for two extra days since they screwed me over even more. I always get the flying high event at the 20h cooldown (even if its really late or early in the morning) and later when i have time i play it, i got it really early today in the hopes of playing it today after i was done with family stuff, and guess what the event was dropped from my list with no chance for me to finish it and even if they fix their stupid mistake i would have to replay it for today and wait another 20h for tomorrow since im short 80 pearls still

If they said August 5 and closed it August 4, then they should give an extra day or two. Even if they don't, then there is always next year. Could also use lobi to get the remaining pearls. Hopefully, there is an easier solution for getting it.

i got my ships weeks ago.. but not everyone did..

This is really a shame. Some of us planned our play time due to having real world things to attend to. I intended on getting my last 40 pearls on my Romulan this evening, so much for that. It's always something....

((Update! (7/19/13): As announced in the recent State of the Game article, we will be extending the time needed to get pearls by a couple of days for those who may have missed a day ? the new end date has been moved from August 2nd to August 5th, 2013 at 10AM PDT.))

Ok I would not be so hasty to say "Cryptic lied again" - as you are assuming that they posted Aug 5th and then deliberately turned it off on Aug 4th - which I HIGHLY doubt is the case.

I still get surprise that people who are here for a Star Trek game don't show sympathy when someone has a problem from the game. If someone has a limited amount of playing time and they had planned on getting something just as a event is about to end and it ends early that just sucks and I am sorry for anyone who got screwed.

If they have indeed ended it before they wrote that they would then some people do have a legitimate gripe. There is no argument nor room for it. Football is a game played for fun too, but if you were playing and they ended the game fifteen minutes early with a close score you could have won because it was a pretty day and the ref was bored and went home early then I bet you would whine too. It simply isn't fair to them, who invest their time and money, trusting Cryptic to let them play and enjoy the product as promised.

Now that that's over, what can be done about it?

I offer my sympathies to the OP about this, and to others in the same boat, but would at the same time, whilst understanding and appreciating your anger (you have, after all, had to make this endeavour over a not insignificant amount of time), you have erred in referring to Crytpic as liars.

Had you questioned their competence, I am sure you would have had even more sympathy than has been expressed so far.

This is, as we Brits say, a right royal ****-up. It really should not have happened, and what happens next should be closely followed by all users, whether affected or not, as it will say a great deal about the company and its customer service.

And a word for the people who are all 'how come you didn't get get it already', well bully for you, but kindly keep quiet until you can appreciate that life can get in the way of playing games - as per that oft quoted 'I have a sandwich therefore you can't be starving' quip.

And yes, this is a game, and perhaps sometimes people can take it too seriously, but when you invest your time and/or money in something, you should be somewhat upset about something like this. It's a question of degree, and then a question of how it gets resolved.

a couple of days is 2 so it was supposed to be the 2nd. the 3rd 1 the 4th 2. to make it the 5th would be a few days. just go get some lobi crystals and stop crying.

You can always tell when people have no investment in something. They blow off peoples concerns as if they have no reason to be upset.

Had they been a single day away from getting this ship through the event and not through the means of somehow putting RL money towards it. Im sure they too would be upset about it.

OP I totally sympathize with you on this. Theres no reason for Cryptic to have turned this off a day before they announced.

But at the same time. This is something Cryptic is notorious for. Theyve got nothing better to do then test the waters with horrible business practices and see how the masses react to it. Obviously those in here right now saying to 'go do something else' or 'go buy the pearls with lobi crystals' arent intelligent enough to recognize how this behavior is going to effect them in the long run. These same people are more then likely the types that throw money at this game when they want something in game they dont intend putting effort towards.

I know that blog said the 5th. But if you open up your mission tab in game and click on the icon, it says August 15th. So you still have more than a week to get your fancy new yacht.

I can see the concern for Active Military not having time to come into game. I have a friend in the Canadian Army who missed the entire even because of his being stationed in Afghanistan all year. But for those of us living in the Civilian world, it is a different story entirely. Running the daily Pearl mission only takes 5 minutes. Literally, 5 MINUTES! Our fleet leader has a full time job, a wife with medical problems, and 2 very young children. He spared 5 minutes of each night to come into game just long enough to get his daily Pearls, then log back off. After a month, he got his Risa Corvette.

The event was supposed to be open for 35 days and you needed to do the race 25 times to get the ship. It should take you around 5 minutes or less to complete the race each day using any of the jetpacks, even the rental version. Now given that it takes very little time and that you have 10 spare days, there is almost no excuse for not being able to get the 1000 pearls needed for the ship.

You missed the point entirely. He is dealing with his wife's Medical problems, plus taking care of their children, and going to his full time job. All at once. He is dealing with so much in his real life, and probably more than he has told us. If he can spare 5 minutes in his night, I too can find a way to work around my schedule.
