Maybe this could be the 1st ship to have a 5 fore and 4 aft weapons layout. And be a cruiser/carrier outside the fantastic Vor'cha that can turn past 9 without a RCS Console.

If she's on par with the Dominion Dreadnought i'll be happy, that ship is a monster and the Scimitar will be as well if based on those specs

ehh, if its part carrier, i'd be surprised if it had more than the 4/3 of the jem dread. if its a full carrier i hope its stats are comparable to the jem dread, as its the only other dread carrier in the game. im not saying a carbon copy cut past, but use it as a baseline to compare it to

You forgot that the Scimidar has primary AND secondary shields. Two shield layers.

Note: Although I have yet to see her on Tribble, there have been instances where a secondary shield slot has been seen there.

Plus the Scimidar has an advanced battle cloak that enabled her to maintain shields during and after cloaking.

I hope she is overpowered. Something gratuitous. Something waa-aaay over the top. Three or four hangar bays.

And I'll line up to buy her ;)

Hahahahhaha......that would be too much fun!!!......come on there isn't anybody else out there who wouldn't enjoy it, just for 5 minutes completely faceroll some enemies....just once?......

Now many will be upset or even dismiss my logic for putting up this thread asking Cryptic not to make a Republic version of the Scimitar...or Falchion as we have seen in Azure Rescue. I have several reason for this and I will list them:

    1. The ship will not be even CLOSE to cannon due to game limitations.

    2. The ship will be either Way Overpowered or Way Underpowered, as seen with the Odyssey and the D'deridex, way underpowered is normally the way Cryptic goes with ALL Cruisers and Dreadnaughts. The exception being recently the Tal Shiar Adapted Destroyer and the Jem'hadar Dreadnaught.

    3. This will lead to the continued use of cannons over beams with EVERY new ship. This is a problem that many tend to ignore, but it seems like every new ship released can now use cannons, come on please Cryptic think of a better way to balance or beef-up new ships. Suggestions are already out there.

    4. Ships that need Fleet versions will continue to be overshadowed and ships that need an upgrade or were previously C-Store Greats become obsolete. Yeah, remember the Odyssey...I don't either, because even compared to some of the weakest Fleet ships, it SUCKS! This is supposed to be the Enterprise F...at least give us a Enterprise Edition or something that is available through Fleet upgrade. Some actually like the design of the Odyssey , but man it really sucks compared to any of the other C-store ships and especially ANY lockbox ships.

    5. Lastly, sorry to say this Cryptic but you are using slow turn rate TOO much to limit Cruisers, there is a slow turn rate and then there is I can't even turn the ship before the other ships fly around me TWICE. This coupled with the lack of native special abilities like Direct Energy Modulation or native Tractor Beam, makes Cruisers and Dreadnaughts gimped before you even start. Yes I know there are WAYS to make Cruiser and Dreadnaughts do alot of damage but when it can only be done by forcing all the power through Auxilary, something is WRONG. The simple fact is larger ships have MORE power NOT less than escorts. The Enterprise would not be having power issues in a fight with the Defiant, this is where this game seriously needs an overhaul before it starts introducing overpowered cannon heavy dreadnaughts or more seriously gimped Cruisers.

    1. as others have stated none of the ships in sto are actually like thier show counter part for both gameplay and game limitations

    2. UP is just your perception but I do kinda get were your coming from on cruisers, but lockbox ships are a little better then the rest of the herd anyways.

    3. I agree that cannons use is the norm now a days. I'm hoping they will do more to make beam boats more viable in pve and feel like a valued part of a pve team.

    4. You have no idea what your talking about here as oddyssey pilot I can tell you I'm anything but underpowered, But I do like i said i don't feel like my tanking skills aren't valued very much in most of pve. Maybe to you, you can't get the oddyssey to work work, but I did just fine.

    5. I agree that cruisers turn rate should be buffed 1 across the board but with the new fleet engineering consoles, and the changes to the way turn is increased cruisers should turn a whole lot better now overall. Since most have more engineering slots then escorts.

Dreadnought = lots of weapons and armor

    Warbird = Singularity core = Battle Cloak = T5 ROMULAN/REMAN ONLY :cool:

    Carrier = 2 Hangars = 4 frigate-sized pets or 12 Scorpion fighter pets :P

The two factions get starbases and Romulan fRaction does not.

The Romulan fRaction gets a mobile starbase and the main two factions don't.

Sounds about even to me. :P

p.s. OP you really need to raise that count of Scorpion fighters in your list of stats to somewhere in the neighborhood of say 1,500. :)

^ Yeah, when a Science ship is more powerful than the model for the Enterprise, yes the Odyssey SUCKS, so go ahead and talk TRIBBLE but you sound like people defending PVP in this game, and you are in some serious denial. The Odyssey loses to Every single Fleet ship T5 and every single escort T4 ship is better than the Odyssey, so again it does suck especially since it is supposed to be the **** Enterprise equivalent, which is the MOST ADVANCED SHIP IN STARFLEET!

If you are losing to a science ship in your Odyssey, you're doing it wrong. If you're losing in a 1v1 to an escort in ANY cruiser, ESPECIALLY the Odyssey, you're doing it wrong. Sorry OP, the Odyssey does not suck If your Odyssey is failing, that's player error, not ship error. Even the freebie Odyssey doesn't suck. Far from it. It is currently the most versatile fed cruiser in the game, and it can either deal quite a bit of damage (if you build it right), survive a full 5 man assault (if you don't get subnuked and aren't an idiot), or heal like insanity (if you aren't an idiot). Therefore I can only assume you didn't build the ship right, or your BOff layout is horrible. Or both.

I have an Odyssey that can survive getting hammered by EVERYTHING in the game (and that includes other players). She can even tank a Thalaron from Donatra. She can almost survive a plasma lance from the unimatrices in Hive. She can tank the Queen's Diamond for a good 5 minutes before I actually have to hit MW. AND the whole time she is pumping out a good 7500-8k DPS (dependent on crits). Your Odyssey should never die unless you get one-shotted or subnuked. So... no, the Odyssey doesn't suck.

As for your commentary on the Scimitar, I actually agree with the comment, but I do not agree with the reasoning. I agree that the Scimitar should not be made playable, but I don't agree with much else. My reasons are because there is no way to make the Scimitar what everyone wants without either 1) breaking the game, or 2) making some people unhappy. It should just remain that faceless monstrosity you have to face with certain enemy NPCs. But seeing as it's a confirmed ship, I'm sorry to say you have no hope with your petition, which others have stated violates forum rules.

Its going to happen, its already been made, so asking for it to not happen would have been a good idea in March when LOR was announced if there was going to be any chance at all of making it not happen. But since pretty much every canon ship has been added in, I don't think that was ever a likely outcome, especially for a Romulan Faction that had so few canon ships to pull from already.

The ship itself, I am guessing, is probably going to be similar in stats to the Jem'hadar Dreadnought Carrier, since its being called a Dreadnought Carrier.

3-pack Scimitar class dreadnought warbird carrier with one for each career, a special console for each class and 3-console set power. 2 hangars capable of using the new Romulan drone frigate-class.

Will it break the game - nope.

Will it break PvP - nope.

Will it be OP - nope.

Will it make some people unhappy - probably.

Will it make some people happy - yep.

Will it be just another carrier flown in STO by players looking for a carrier usable by Romulans and Remans - yep.

But then again I could be swinging for the centerfield fence. :)

The oddy is inline with all other 10 console cstore ships. It has good hull, shields, console, boff layout. Its 95% of the way to a fleet ship just like the andorian/vesta. There isnt anything wrong with the oddessy cstore versions. At best all you could hope for is a tiny bump to shield/hull mod.

Its a backburner issue vs some of the oldest cstore ships in bad need of an update. Dykr, Defiant, Intrepid, Galaxy-R, Galaxy X etc all need a serious rework.

Tac/Sci oddy are still fabulous ships. Try an aux2bat build with them its great.

My view on the Scimitar, I want one strictly as a PVE ship as I don't PVP much. Turn rate is not going to be an issue as I want to be able to tank in it, for all you whiners who complain about turn rates, dreadnought type ships are not escorts. I happily fly a mirror Ha'Apex on my Romulan and a Mirror Vo'guv on my klingon and i've never had an issue with the turn rates, they make great beam boats.

I completely disagree with you. Romulans NEED a carrier. Scimitar/Falcion IS that carrier. You do not like it? To bad. The most awesome fighters out there are the romulan fighters and it is only proper that romulans should have a romulan carrier to use.

Cannons are a choice. They are even a choice if you want to milk all the dps possible out of a oddy/or that POS called a Galaxy Dreadnought. I say POS because they are easily snapped in half by adapted ships and escorts. Beams are still good, IF YOU CHOOSE to use beams, there is nothing wrong, or if you really are a beam fan then its all good, the best beams will be in the discount bin of the exchange.

As far as the Fed Cruisers...Yeah they need a buff, nothing major really. But as for the Enterprise? Ok my fan friend. Enterprise F is not special. It is a poster for 25th century Alien Affirmative Action. That andorian captain has lost 3 ships, thousands of crew members, and what happens? They give him the Enterprise F. Oh and lets not forget he shows up at the midway or end of battles spouting hes not the only one who responds to distress calls.

Romulans need this. The Romulans truly needed their own faction but...well KDF tears and all. Feds have a carrier, KDF has carriers that launch capital ships. Every ship is meant and built for specific things, Dreadnought carriers are meant to point towards enemy and destroy. Easily killed in PvP.

As for fleet ships well...it depends what you want. I personally love the fleet de'lan or however its spelled, great ship, especially if you own the zen versions. But they will never compare to the lobi ships, those ships SHOULD be seriously OP, reason being they are stupidly expensive and thats how cryptic keeps this game free for people like you and me. People buy keys. If you feel that the pay model is bad, try TOR, you have to pay for hotbars on top of everything else. This game gives you the opportunity to buy stuff from the zen store without paying a dime.

        One side effect of this:

You get to see what everyone envisioned the Scimitar as. Some wanted a dreadnought/battleship, some are happy with carrier, some want a smoothie machine, and others want an uberscort.

And then some don't want it at all. The usual.

Probably not... it's probably going to be a 5000-zen 3 pack like the Fed and KDF's Oddy and Bortas.
