I am not really an RPer - but I would like something - just SOMETHING in this game to continue the tradition of CANON!!

What ship do you pilot? What crew? Why do you care about this little thing when there's so much else broken about lore/canon in this game?

I WANT JJVERSE SHIPS. IT'S CANON. JUST AS MUCH CANON AS ST:NEMESIS.

Occam's Razor makes the cutting clean.

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Risa

By the mid-24th century, Risa had developed a reputation as being a most peaceful planet where weapons weren't allowed. (TNG: "Captain's Holiday"; DS9: "Let He Who Is Without Sin...")

Risa was most noted for the frank and open sexuality of its native population. Identified by a decorative emblem on their foreheads between the eyes, Risians often initiate or respond to the desire for sexual relations through the use of a small statuette called a horga'hn, the Risian symbol of sexuality or fertility. Display of a horga'hn announced that the owner wished to participate in jamaharon, a Risian sexual rite. (TNG: "Captain's Holiday"; DS9: "Let He Who Is Without Sin...")
In TNG : Captain's Holiday, Sovak smuggle a weapon in Risa, and use it to force Vash and Picard to work for him.
Which mean, having a weapon on Risa is possible and canon.

As you can see, even a lore TRIBBLE can enjoy the game !

Joke aside, while it would "canon" to have weapons removed, it's to much trouble to work on something that remove player weapon for a summer event. And I don't think we will be able to use them anyway. I intend to enjoy the event, I hope you will to.

I addressed that in another post - that the only weapons there were smuggled in - not freely carried around.

It's just a visual that a player can disable(so your weapons don't show- My orion has a strapless bra and bare back - so I have weapon visuals disabled - would look strange - although sometimes I have the bat'leth showing) - should be fairly simple for Cryptic to disable the visuals on that map I would think?

I will be bring my Bikini clad Blond - blue eyed white(not green) KDF Orion for the fun - but my Male Klingon warrior will not be attending.

    And to the other guy - I only fly ships that were in the shows/movie - Mostly B'rels - now T'varo's - Fed side - Excel's - Defiant - i have 20+ c-store ships

If we have the power to disable weapon visuals on our toons - certainly Cryptic has the power to do whatever they want to character visuals on this map.

    This^

And not to fret. Do you guys know what will be allowed to be used on Risa?

    Fire suppression devices.

There is a certain fleet that I want to thank for getting me to use fire suppression devices for things that I would have never considered before. Like impromptu drills during important Starfleet business. I was in a diplomatic mission with a fleet-mate and I was making sure everyone attending was versed on the basics of Rescue Alarm Contain Extinguish. As I was in the Extinguish phase of the drill, spraying both the Federation and Klingon ambassadors clothing in a protective flame retardant layer in preparation for a dirty Cardassian attack, my partner goes into the cut scene and all you can hear is KOOOOOOOOSSSSHHHHHHHHH for like five minutes and he had surround sound because it got stuck in the audio feed.

    Thank you guys.

I am glad to know that Risa shall not get burned down if the KDF haphazardly discharge disruptor weaponry into or near the flammable shacks of Risa.
Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it. - Bubba

Are Cryptic able to stop players from drawing their weapons on certain maps? If so this would seem like a good solution.

Can you draw your energy weapons in "Colosseum"? I know you can bust out your bladed weapons but I can't recall if you can pull out your guns.

If you can't then yes, they're capable of doing this.

Cryptic needs to disable the weapon visuals - just like you have the option under your character screen.

You can`t carry around weapons on Risa - that is their long-time policy - starfleet officers can`t blatently break member worlds laws by carrying their weapons - even if they can`t be drawn.

Same would apply to the KDF - although I don`t know why the KDF would be there in the first place.

Isn`t there any canon left in the Dev team?

Starfleet Dental fully supports the notion of a weapons-free Risa. Dental High Command believes this is a step forward for the STO playerbase, with an enforced zone of peace and tranquility available for all players.

So if water guns are supplied - does this mean a full - out Starfleet Dental water fight will start?

"oh this phaser bank is in the wrong place" "OMGz dis gaiz is breaking Canon"

    Seriously, get a life

I'm seriously starting to agree with this.

I responded to a post today on another forum -- someone couldn't understand how "they" managed to fit an entire warp-drive into the upper-stage of a Titan missile and LOL civilians can't own rockets that's pure bull**** and where did he get the thousands of pounds of antimatter and exotic matter to make the warp coil -- all ingredients needed for a PROPER FULLY OPERATIONAL WARP DRIVE. By his estimates the rocket would have needed to lift over 30 million tons to orbit.

...apparently it never even occurred to him that gee we have TWO civilian space services now -- both which have fired multiple heavy rockets into space. Apparently he's forgotten we're at the point where we can create tiny amounts of antimatter and store it for several seconds -- that's improving all the time. Let see... never even thought of the possibility that this was just a simple "prove the math was right" prototype -- or even the first MANNED flight after two or three drone flights.

Not a fully functional "proper" warp drive -- just a simple one-shot prototype that ran on a barely controlled reaction... a warp-field generated by inefficient nano-blahblah-superconductor-woowoo, just to prove that "hey this works."

All built into the shell of a military surplus Titan missile, and boosted to orbit by the Space X Falcon-2000 heavy-launch booster or something.

Gee that wasn't hard. Doesn't contradict canon in any way and fits both lore and contemporary history.

When it comes to canon most "trekkies" are as bad as the religious-folk they hate with a fire that burns -- spouting dogma, adhering to a strict non-negotiable "mine is right yours is wrong" canon and shunning/mocking anyone who disagrees. Oh and it's ok to hate hate hate on certain groups in the game because CANON and of course that justifies HATING someone -- because HATE is what Star Trek is all about! The irony burns with the heat of 10,000 dying suns. :)

People carrying Weapons on Risa ... are probably just rioting because they can get no swimwear ... it makes perfect sense :P
While people back in the 24th century (TNG: "Captain's Holiday"; DS9: "Let He Who Is Without Sin...") were able to wear swimwear, so no need for weapons anyway :P

Obviously you never made a mod for an Eldar Scrolls game and went Outside of Lore. Trekies are not the only ones who have a hissy fit if lore/cannon is even slightly not up to par much less broken. it is both amusing as well as sad to see. Amusing some get all riled up about it but sad that they do since they are a member of your species.

I understand there will be no swimsuit outfits allowed so we should be okay.

So if I see you on Risa and pick up a fertility statue and beat you to death with it, it's okay because a fertility statue isn't a weapon?

Anything can be used as a weapon.

This is my Orion girl who will be attending - you can try but she may beat you down and make you one of her slaves.

go play eve online if you dont want a trek experience... or swtor.. this is star trek.. it is well known that it has one of the biggest fallowings, and that its fan base is pretty strict..

again, im getting sick of all you non trek fans, that have other sci fi games you can play, but want to ruin this one for us star trek fans.. (this includes the devs who seem devoted to destroying what trek essentially is...)..

The cannon TRIBBLE can really make this game hard to enjoy sometimes. I've seen people get harrassed because some dork didn't like their ship name, and there was even a guy back when STO first came out that said people who didn't understand cannon shouldn't be allowed to play. It's times like those that I wish you could give a DDT ingame to their character.

One does not simply take a ferasans weapon away!
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
    unfortunately:

    NOT LOYAL ENOUGH!!!
