Lag has a schedule?

ok I have observed this over a week now..
Always at 12:00 AM UTC, the game server gets plague by lags to the point of unplayability. "Server not Responding" messages appears on and off. Relogging is useless as once I do so, it takes minutes for even one my characters to appear. If they do and I immediately try to get into the game, the screen just shows me a blank background of stars and the "retrieving List of maps" message would not even appear. On the rare occasion that it does make it to the laoding screen it will always stop at either 40+% or 95+%. It stops loading then the "server not responding" message appears again until it totally disconnects me. Sometimes it even says "disconnected for an unknown reason". If I restart it or open a new launcher it won't even make it as far as showing the "Engage" button.

Now these problems aren't new. They've been around even way before. Just more frequently since the release of LOR.
But what i want to know is .. what's up with it Game server suddenly derping at ALWAYS 12:00 AM UTC. Always, right on the dot. BAM! lags and can't play. This happens all the way unitl 15:00 PM UTC. From there on its smooth playing until it reaches 12:00 AM UTC again.

its not my internet either. I can surf and play other MMO games just fine during said times I couldn't connect to STO.

This is all part of cryptics diabolicle evil master plan...what is that plan?.
idk but i have heard from a very unreliable source alot of the cryptic devs have grown....goatees and as we all know goatees mean evil.

honestly all joking aside i havent noticed any strange lag at a certain time seems kinda random to me.

maybe the time is just a coincendence (My spelling stinks)

If your Lag has a schedule, it probably means your ISP is getting traffic from companies that are downloading their daily backups and synching their Data base. And since no doubt they have a quality of service contract with your ISP, where do you think the network bandwidth to do this will come from???

hmm yes quite possibly, but if that's the case, then I wonder why its only STO that is affected

I have the same issue... about 8-9pm gmt+1. At first I was thinking it was my isp, but several tracerout in different days told me it's a server issue because I had about 250-300 ms delay and time out just on pw's servers

Playing STO spamming FAW is like playing chess using always the computer's suggested moves

It could be just as likely that something on the user's own computer is doing the same, like Carbonite or other backup software. Or, in less desirable circumstances, the host machine could have a Trojan on it that's being used to DDOS a target, which could eat up a lot of bandwidth. I don't work for an ISP, but I wouldn't be so quick to point at an ISP and say "That's your problem," because there are certainly other ways bandwidth and latency can disappear.

I don't care how long you've been playing. I only care about how you play.
And remember to follow the rules.

took your advice and scanned my pc twice. So far no viruses and other stuff turned up and unfortunately the problem with the connection to account server still persists today.

    im using AVG anitvirus btw

same problem still persists. Its quite consistent.
Anyways just to check, I attempted to download Neverwinter just a little after 12:00 am UTC today just to see if the problem is just isolated to STO itself.. well sad to say it took like 10 minutes just to update the launcher and the game download failed a little afterwards.
