Well. I get past the load screens, but no further. there are also people actually able to choose/create a character before they get some sort of disconnect/CTD.
-I refrain from using ugly language, but... ...I am getting close to the moment where I stop caring wheter I am banned or not...
I haven't been able to get in-game since LOR was released. The game work fine before then. I've tried everything I can think of and to no avail, and have all but given up. Will have another go at contacting support and then that's it.
OK I've given this some more thought and have poked around in the log files and it seems I'm awash with Hogg errors. Given that I cannot find any other errors I have to assume that this is the cause of mine and possibly other peoples crashes.
What I would be interested to know is, if anyone else who is getting these load screen crashes also has Hogg errors...
mindstorm2500 & talzerotwo: Can I ask you both to check your hogg_errors.log which is located in: /Cryptic studio/Star trek online/Live - and also in just the 'Cryptic Studio' folder.. If I'm right you should have Hogg errors too, and everyone else who has this exact problem.
If this is the case we need to delete the appropriate .hogg files located in the Piggs folder (for me it's the bin.hogg that is giving errors) and then run Force Verify from the game launcher, which will re-download the files, thus fixing the errors.
The problem for me is that the bins.hogg file is 5GB in size and this would take me some 6-7 hours to re-download. So I would like to confirm as much as I can that this is what is causing the crashes before committing. So anyone who is reading this and still is having crashes can check their hogg_errors.log, and can report back here it would hopefully be useful to us all, and maybe we can fix this problem!
p.s does anyone one else have a white box appear in the top left hand corner of the Cryptic loading screen just before it crashes?
p.p.s If anyone from Cryptic is reading this - some feedback would be appreciated as there are quite a number who suffer from this problem and we are just the end user so a little assistance would be good!

I think I'm gonna go ahead and delete the relevant hogg file and re-download it. I'll let you know if it works, hopefully tomorrow! Thanks for the help, captain ;-)
Sorry it didn't work for you, mines still downloading so I dunno if it's going to work. If you had similar errors though and it didn't work, then it's not looking good...Damn, I was sure that was the answer. Back to the drawing board eh?
Talzerotwo: did you have any luck with what was suggested in the other thread? It sounded like you were getting somewhere.
I was able to get past the loading screen at last!, although I wasn't actually able to login due to the sever timing out. I'm hoping this has something to do with the maintenance today. I will find out for sure once the severs go back up.
So all I did was delete the hogg file which was giving errors - in my case it was the bin.hogg. And then I just force verified and viola!
gabytrek: I know you said this didn't work for you. Well it occurred to me that there are also hogg files in the pre-patch folder. Could be worth temp deleting it and then force verify again and let re-download.
~Update~
Holy **** it actually worked. Just got in game for the first time since the 21st. Have to say I'm impressed with the changes I've seen so far. Graphics look noticeably better too.
To all those still crashing at the load screen - I suggest you do as I did and go through your hogg errors and delete the corresponding files. Once thing I did notice is that my bins.hogg file is now only 1.2GB, wheres before deleting and re-downloading it was nearly 5GB. I also had duplicate file errors in with the hogg errors, so I think it's obvious what happened.
Well, tech support is useless, so I'm going to bump this thread and see if anyone in the community has any ideas.
I'm having the same crash described above: When I updated the game to the LoR patch, it started crashing as soon as it loaded the character select screen. There's the same white square flashing up on the LoR splash screen as someone else described upthread. Then the character select screen loads. I get a blue space background of some sort, then the char select screen scrolls down into place. I dont' see my character model in the usual place, it crashes after the UI elements on the left side load.
I've tried looking for the .hogg error files mentioned in the thread. There seem to be no error logs whatsoever in my STO folder. Same for the Cryptic folder. My install path is in /users/public/games/Cryptic ...
In case it was a .hogg error, I deleted all of my hoggs manually (I'd already uninstalled and reinstalled the game prior as well), and reloaded them with a force verify in the launcher. No love. Same exact crash.
I'm trying through the proxy, though I don't know that that will give me any different files.
Also, I created a fresh install on my laptop (never had the game installed on it before, just CO and NW), and it's doing the same exact thing.

It seems others, all across the board, are experiencing the same thing.
I'm going to follow their advice and update all drivers now.
