Is it just me, or is anyone else's connection to the server tenuous at best? Started going bad sometime around 2 AM EST for me today, and it's still not playable. Checked everything out on my ISP's end, and everything seems fine.
Ever since Neverwinter launched there has been some severe issues with the game and the server. Personally for the last couple of days I'm experiencing some terrible lag, even though there's everything fine with the connection on my end. Most of the time it's "just" an annoying delay, but there are times the game is simply unplayable. And I've noticed numerous people from different channels complain about it as well, so no, it's not just you.
it's not just only you.
like suaveks said, people getting terrible lag since they launched neverwinter
i doubt this will get any better
the standard dev attitude is always: we're looking into it <-- which basically means they don't care
some of my friends already took a break since it's unplayable especially in pvp or stfs:(
i can't wait until they launch LOR- expect some new emergency maintenance and lag records^^
Yeah it's really bad. There has always been a problem with connectivity in this game. How many times every day do I get the bloody Server Not Responding message? Sometimes a week will go by without any problems and then 5 or 6 times an hour... Never had any problem with any of the other games I've played and I've played a lot of online games in the past 15 years.
But for the past 10 days or so it's just keeps getting worse. Lag, rubberbanding, disconnections, launcher issues... LoR is less than a weel away and I'm worried.
Yea I'm getting the same Server lag here, the Game Rubberbands really bad and it tends to get worse by the minute, lets place bets on when the next server crash is gonna be I guess..
And.....the game just became unplayable, getting disconnected at every map transition.Really Cryptic?Come on guys, get it together, time to earn your keep.
The PWE/Cryptic sweatshop...not where the game is made, but where the game is played!
Take back your home, end the grind!
Volunteer moderators policing the forums is like a mall cop trying to solve a murder.
it's defntly not related to pre-patching!
as said above people getting massive lag since cryptic launched neverwinter.
also note that the servers completely crashed in the past 2 weeks over and over...defntly not a coincidence
This its turning into the worst month since I joined STO. please do consider that I'm a subscriber and this its getting frustrating.
What happened to the priority log in for paying customers? Shouldn't you kick some f2p players when servers can't handle the situation?
Its my understandig that when ping goes over 80ms the game start lagging and rubberbanding please have a look at this:

I was starting to wonder if this problem was just me...good to know I've got company!
Started about a week ago for me, ISP checks out fine, but everything associated with STO seems to be lagging: (Launcher loading, map transition, rubberbanding, etc...)
Admiral Jisil T'ror Admiral Sovak Does anyone remember when we used to be explorers...
And here I was thinking about going back to Gold for a couple of months with the LoR launch, but now I seriously wonder if I should, with all the server issues making it impossible to play at times.
Well, I guess we'll see how it'll all work after today's server restart.
I'm getting like major slingshots, and whenever I exit my game it does the patch thing, and then whenever I launch the launcher it does another patch. This morning I am getting major slingshots, and server disconnects.

so im fairly new to STO and have only been playing for about a day... yesterday the game was running fine but was pretty laggy... now today I cant even log in. ive been reading the post about never winter and was wondering if that would have something to do with it, but am uncertain... it patches just fine and lets me login but when it goes to the screen with the captains chair the server connection times out... ive tried about 13 times over a span of several hours and cant find anything about the servers being down... any suggestions?
Question. We had shard maintenance on Monday the 13th. We are having again today. I am not seeing any notes as to what is being done. Anyone see a post or why two shard maintenance days this week?
Today is the normal patch day, the one on Monday was an emergency since STO was being crippled by the launch of Neverwinter. Normally we would only get Thursday as a down day.
To add though we may get an additional downtime or two next week due to the start of Legacy of Romulus.
Pre-patching doesn't work. It freezes at 46% and then loads up one CPU core with 100% load and just sits there like that. I left it for some hours today while I was out hoping it would somehow get over this freeze but it was still frozen loading 1 cpu core as I left it.
The launcher is crashing half the time and constantly saying cannot establish connection to game server.
The launcher upon first opening also wants to patch 4MB of data over and over, what is that?
You call this getting ready for a major expansion? Weeks and weeks of crashes and glitches, server outages, lag issues, rubber banding complaints galore and denials it has anything to do with putting another game onto the same server hardware as STO, COH?
Cause of ALL the lag/Banding issue's is the Game Server's Host. Cogentco.com
It's not a fixed IP or even hardware as they seem to cycle through a couple dozen with a string of 4 each cycling. But they do hit one in the cycle that drops packets or spikes 250ms. Even had it halt my entire hop connection between me and the server and jump it to 1870ms.
This SAME server host does the Hosting for WoW, World of ********. They too berate them for lag issue's, dropped packets.

This may be painfully obvious, but if the servers are struggling before LoR, what do you think is going to happen after the release?
I can tell you one thing that won't happen; little magical pixies won't wave their magic wands and make the problem disappear.
it is on the launcher!
Still waiting to be able to use forum titles
it says:
"We wil be performing shard maintenance on May 16th frim 7-9 AM PST (1400-1600 UTC). Please check the forums for more information."
STO is hosted on servers called shards so maintaining the shard is always the game going down. Server should be back up in about 30minutes.
Still waiting to be able to use forum titles
To add though we may get an additional downtime or two next week due to the start of Legacy of Romulus.
