NONE of this is new this game has been around for years now these are known problems always remember .....fourm search is your friend
The forum search engine and the Google engine, right, Wild Weasel? Well, may I point out to you the fact that I barely just begun to play this since January? And the fact that I perhaps wanted *to reiterate* all these things, so that the "Cryptic" devs may not overlook them? See? You don't have all the facts. So, your remark is hereby declared void.
P.S. Yes, I did use the search engine box for this forum before.
The crashes are probably because your laptop is overheating. STO is a high res game that uses a lot of video energy. Laptops often crash - which is why many people who play high res games on a laptop buy a cooling pad to try and keep the temp down.
The crashing could also be a RAM issue - one of your RAM cards is bad and slamming your system off when it gets stressed. There's no way of knowing about that without doing a RAM test, though.
Probably... Probably not. Oh, I looked over the Internet and found similar issues with these game launchers and the gameplay itself, so it made me wonder and ponder...

Well let's put it this way: hundreds of thousands of people play STO every single week without a BSOD. If you're getting one every time you play for more then a couple of hours that should tell you something about your system. It clearly has nothing to do with the game. And I'd bet many of the other issues you're experiencing are probably also due your laptop choice.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Star Trek Online is a very poorly optimized game, as far as its graphics go.
I run Speedfan to monitor my computer's temperatures, and my GPU usually runs at about 135 F while idle (idle being not playing a game, though even with Photoshop running I admit that's still a rather hot idle temperature). I can run Skyrim, or DCUO, or other games that are fairly comparable graphically, and the temperatures for those games never really kicks my GPU up above 150-155 F.
STO, on the other hand, will cause my GPU's temperature to jump to 165 F, easily.
My game never crashes and I never have a BSOD, but it's easy for me to imagine that other people might. From what I can tell, there's just something very sloppy behind the scenes of STO's graphics engine.
And yet the forum is not bombarded with thousands of BSOD comments daily.

Thank you, TheRatch, my point exactly! Of course, I admit that my laptop may have serious RAM issues with its memory dumps and all, but some on-line, RPG type games such as this one can lead... can expedite one's road to an annoyingly repetitive BSoD phenomena.
And yet the forum is not bombarded with thousands of BSOD comments daily.
1.) This ain't your forum... So, you may even ignore such threads altogether if you like instead of complaining about them by posting comments. Wouldn't you agree?
2.) Well, it was not my choice, as the laptop is concerned, and...
3.) Maybe I'm one of the BSoD phenomena-related "lucky" ones!
