Let's just say the new movie pulls huge numbers, and I think it can. Then a 3rd film in made, and JJ feels it's time to bring it back to TV.
But here's the catch 22, It MUST be set in his new timeline, AND..............
He wants to reboot TNG with this new show. We are talking about new actors, new look ship, and a lot of new twist to a few prime stories, and a ton of new story lines to go down.
Would you support a New show set in JJ's world, or be hardcore, and protest it by not watching one clip?
I have a feeling this might be the road they want to go down, but it will be based on what these next movies do at the box office. New younger fans, and hopfully more money in the bank.
I'd watch any series that had either Star Trek, Star Wars or Doctor Who (my three personal faves) in it's title, it makes no difference to me who is at the helm (on or offscreen)

Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.
While I like the new films, my preferred course would be to go back to the prime universe but it does not bother me either way. I'll watch Trek as long as I enjoy it.
in a show you have to scale back the action and fx and they would be forced to do the more traditional trek shows which would probably win over some of the ones who hate XI.
Given that the trends in SciFi TV shows right now are to full-season continuous story arcs, I would probably catch the first episode, miss one, get pissed of that I have no clue what's going on, wait for the series to end, and torrent the whole bloody mess.
I didn't enjoy the first JJTrek movie, but I caught it in the theatre and bought a copy simply because it has the Trek logo on it. Along the same lines, I hate the Dr. Who reboot but I keep watching and buying it - it may not be the same show it was but it's still Who.
That in mind, I never bothered to buy Enterprise - IMO it was even less trek than JJTrek was, and frankly I couldn't be asked to rewatch a single episode, so if a new series managed to be that terrible, there is a possibility that I would skip it entirely.
Final note I think a JJTrekverse based TV show is unlikely, for a multitude of reasons, but another ST show may happen, with darker, grittier stuff than even DS9, and a massive rewrite of canon. My guess its 1 or 2 seasons total, probably on a premier cable network like Stars or HBO, then to syndication, with a massive fan outcry a la Firefly and subsequent self-referential and unintelligible film.
My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

pitty much the same for me i just love sci-fi as long as i like the story ill watch it
As an old Star Trek fan from 1969 - Yes, I would. TOS is still my favorite Star Trek era, and I have no real issues with a JJ Abrams series set in that era. ST09 was something the TNG feature films hadn't been in a long time -- entertaining.

I personally would like to see the long term consequences for the Federation. Vulcan was one of the core members of the Federation, it's destruction should make the galaxy much different.

I did not watch TNG or DS9 very much, because of the heavy soap opera elements. I would probably feel the same about the series suggested by the OP--sounds like Breakfast Club in Space, too much oversexed, angst-filled 20-somethings flying a space cruiser.
I would definatly watch a JJ universe Star Trek show. I would have regret in the back of my mind though. I wouldn't want to see the TOS, TNG, or any of the others played out on tv differently just because its JJ universe. Personaly I would like to see it set in the future and instead focus on one ship or one space station focus on those and more. Kind of make the Federation a character in the show like the ship or station has done. It can be done by having loved ones stories interconnected. In this age of tv the more complex the better. Add to that JJ Abrams flashy style of Star Trek and I bet it would be pretty good.

Not in this day and age. HBO with projects like Rome and Game of Thrones has proven that tv is no longer a prisoner to small budgets.
Sopranos, The Wire, Madmen, Girls, these shows have pushed the tropes of TV beyond the landscape of ye olde Treks of decades past ... into exciting new territory.
A new Trek series can be made that isn't beholden to all of the problems of tv syndication and network control of the past.
Heck, TNG itself broke ground on this movement with how it was marketed, sold and aired.
A new Trek series could be so much more open to boldly going where no one has gone before.
I would enjoy watching a TV series based on the revised Trek, provided that Orci and Kurtzman were involved in the entire series production. A revamp of TNG, however, would feel unearned at this point - we haven't established yet what the universe is like now, so we don't know how it would unfold in a century's time.
1 All damage from first film REVERSED
Vulcan and Romulus Restored
2 Kirk Dies or becomes a decent man
3 Spock takes a vow of celibacy or has a nasty accident rendering him harmless
4 Uhura gets counselling
5 No more recoil on the phasers
6 Engine room restored to normal
MY question is, if they did a TNG reboot they'd probably start with them being younger than they were at the beginning of the series and just getting into starfleet like they did in JJTrek - In that case would Tom Hardy play Picard?

I was thinking more on this topic, and I can see a JJ Trekvse looking like this.
1. Patrick Stewart would do a cameo in the 1st episode, and play the role of Admiral Jean-Luc Picard. His histroy being a little different in the new verse, with him taking a fast track into a leadership position within Starfleet. Having done this, it gave him time to have a family, so a younger Jean-Luc Picard jr would be put on the new Enterprise. Dear old dad pulled the strings to get him that command, but his son doesn't like it, cause he wanted the command without dads help. I would see the family life would mirror what we seen of it from the Generations movie, so Jean-Luc Picard would have more than one kid.
2. Worf wouldn't be part of the crew, but a member of the Klingon Empire, and one of their best officers. After a few run ins with Jr over 1 or 2 seasons, Worf and Jr grow to respect each other, and become the best of friends.
3. There would be a new doctor on the ship, with Beverly Crusher being the head of Starfleet Academy medical. (Cameo by Gates McFadden) Dr. Crusher mainly would be there to help get one of her top students on the new ship.
4. Data's story would be about the same, with a few small twists. Mainly having his emotions in place to start, and his battle is mainly how to keep them in control, vs trying to find what are emtions are all about. A recast for this one too.
5. Geordie, Commander Riker and Tori would get a recasting, and I would make them up and coming new actors to play the roles.
6. Any other original TNG members that want to be in the new TNG, I would have them play cameo roles, or recast them in repeat roles over the course of the season or seasons.
It's what I would do anyway.
Oh and get John de Lancie back to play the role of Q, can't have a reboot without Q.
I would certainly watch a new Trek, as long as it wasn't on Syfy.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Probably not. I liked the movie well enough for what it was, but I don't see myself watching a whole series based on it. I think it's better suited for a few movies rather than a full series.

If it was based on TOS with the current actors, ship, look, and feel. Sure, maybe.

Silly to go one way or another out of some larger sense of duty. I have enough obligations towards people and things that really exist, thanks.
TNG era JJ reboot... Hell no
It has to be something original and unique... I know hard in an old franchise but it can be done...
Don't get me wrong... ST2009 is a great action movie, but the story is extremely blurred, and the very... well... not Star Trek.
Basically for the same reason, the answer is: no.
a JJ reboot of any previous series.... no
another prequel of any kind.... probably not im sick of prequels
a prime universe series that takes places right after voyagers return in that era.... yep
Death to Wheaton and JJ!!! Long Live the FCA!!!
