Would i watch yes just to nit pick his mistakes like in the movie i watched and the one up coming. Don't get me wrong i love jj abrams shows just not trek and as a Fan of trek i'm worried about the Star Wars fans. My reason is he seems to be trying to erase some of Rodenberry's Trek and yes i know this is a alternate universe but as me and a few other trek fans thought this was posed to be a prequel to Rodenberrys Trek and to me as I write fan fiction and love it the way I do i'm sorry JJ i vote Rodenberry verse because i am trying to write a new fan fiction in the delta quadrant based on after Voyager and Nemesis and i have major stumps let alone the fact that I cant exist because he is re-writing history.
All you guys who say you wouldn't watch it are lying. How do I know? Because you're all here playing a game that is just as much non-canon as JJ's Trek. If you're willing to put up with STO you're willing to put up with a JJ series.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Well said. I'd argue that STO may even be MORE non-canon than the "JJ haters" claim the alternate universe movies to be. I mean, just look at some of the s--t we have ingame?
- Temporal ships everywhere (Temporal Investigations department on vacation???)
- Ships that are upwards of 2-300 years old, still on active duty
- Uniforms of all eras, being used by personnel (sometimes different uniform styles within same crew)
- Starfleet flying Tholian, Jem Hadar, Breen, Cardassian ships
- KDF flying Tholian, Jem Hadar, Breen, Cardassian ships
- Crews / Duty Officers filled with non-member species
Need I go on? Ofcourse some may enjoy having some of the above items, but they are entirely non-canon elements, which never would happen in a series or movie.
I probably would watch it to be honest. I play STO which stretches canon so far they might as well just toss it out the window.
That being said though I doubt a trek series based on JJ's universe would be any good. These new trek movies are like the Michael Bay films, they capitalize on nostalgia to fill a movie studios coffers. They rewrite the story of whatever subject matter they are ripping off, so the movie could be repackaged in a way to guarantee more ticket sales. ie Special Effects, sex, and bad drama with little story.
If you take out the special effects of these nostalgia exploitation films you'd see there is very little story actually holding the movie together. A tv show doesn't have the special effects budget like a movie studio does, so all we'd be left with is bad story telling during the series. I'd probably still watch though. I watched the train wreck that was Voyager out of fan loyalty.
Let's just say the new movie pulls huge numbers, and I think it can. Then a 3rd film in made, and JJ feels it's time to bring it back to TV.
But here's the catch 22, It MUST be set in his new timeline, AND..............
He wants to reboot TNG with this new show. We are talking about new actors, new look ship, and a lot of new twist to a few prime stories, and a ton of new story lines to go down.
Would you support a New show set in JJ's world, or be hardcore, and protest it by not watching one clip?
I have a feeling this might be the road they want to go down, but it will be based on what these next movies do at the box office. New younger fans, and hopfully more money in the bank.
So how do you feel about this idea?
A new series based in the new universe during the TOS era, sure why not, I'm a sci fi fan after all, but in the TNG era? I don't see the point, there is plenty for them to do with just the adventures of any Federation ship in that era and not every story needs to be about the crew of the Enterprise, lots of new stories that could be told, it's gonna be a very different future without Vulcans in the picture, they have a clean slate to work with, they don't need to jump further into the future. But the thing I would really hope for is if they do make a series that they at least make an effort to build some damn sets, enough with location shooting in a brewery.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
My niece would DEFINITELY watch it. Then again she's a big Christopher Pine fan...
As for me, I'd watch it. But only if it was about a battle cruiser protecting a rag tag fugitive fleet as it runs from a hostile organic hating synthetic species...
Just kidding. I'd watch it just to see where JJ takes his new series.
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"
"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

I can't stand Lost.
The very concept of Revolution makes me want to call up JJ Abrams and yell "Y U NO UNDERSTAND SCIENCE!?"
Two JJ series I refuse to put up with. Your point is disproven.

You need to get a sense of humor. I foresee a very frustrating life in your future without it.

No. I only intend to watch the new movie to laugh at the neverending amount of plotholes again too.
That would get boring for a whole series though.
JJTrek just doesn't do it for me as real entertainment compared to the old Star Trek.

No. I have tried and tried and tried to make peace with this new Trek universe, and as hard as I tried, I couldn't do it... 50 years of continuity flushed down the crapper because they had an IP they weren't making enough money off. I can't and won't bring myself to say that this is Trek now. This is not the Trek that I grew up with... It is, as so many other things have been, a repacking of my childhood that just fails to live up to it's original. It lacks story, it lacks heart, and it's just a big Hollywood action movie that spent more money on special effects and actors than hiring a team of writers that could do justice to the legacy that Roddenberry left them. Abrams is a charlatan. He has to ride the coat tails of men greater than him, and destroy everything that he lays his hands on, and I find it EXTREMELY disturbing that the future of the two flagship IPs of Sci-Fi now now rest squarely within his sticky-fingered grasp.

Agreed, the JJ movies wouldn't translate well to television, they are just popcorn flicks with nonstop action and momentum.

You guys seem to forget that Trek has been rebooted before. The Motion Picture was considered by the filmmakers to be an all new Trek and it was only speculated on when the film took place until 2006. The Wrath of Khan was the second reboot. That is why the timeline is all messed up during that time.
The first reboot was to reintroduce the characters, while the second one was because the director wanted to take Trek into a whole new direction which included a militarized Starfleet, a passing of the torch to younger characters (Saavik was the only survivor from script chopping), and a new Enterprise (which was supposed to be the Excelsior).

Anyone who watched the first film and still wants to see a series should be playing battlestar galactica Not STO

Read my signature file and then really think about how much of STO is canon. I'm thinking STO is already 50% Battlestar Galactica - all pew-pew with no Trek heart.

Your not Gene Roddenberry, you can't just declare parts canon and not canon.
Gene never declared anything canon after 1991 when he left TNG.
And even CBS doesn't consider STO canon. It's an alternate reality setting.
And anyone who thinks Star Trek canon includes constantly flying alien enemy faction ships, having bridge crews full of alien enemies (Jem'Hadar, Breen, Gorn, and Reman), and killing everything in sight probably hasn't seen much Star Trek.

JJ is all about action and less is more.
Next Gen was all about being "Trekier" than Trek trying to force people to believe that it really was Star Trek.
With a ship 10 times the size of the original, yet couldn't take as much punishment as the old one could?
The only thing cool was the new CG.
Now JJ has brought that cool CG to TOS and we can get back to the action.
He doesn't need to make a NG as there are many stories to be told with TOS.
