Launcher hangs when patching, yet continues download.

Hi all,
Just installed STO on a new computer and am having difficulty getting a patch to complete. Installed Cryptic/PWE version, which completed, but is still working its way through a final patch. It needs another 264 MB or so (or that's what it says at least), but hangs at 0.8% but keeps downloading well past the 264MB mark (if I was to let it).
I've attempted grabbing another launcher file, forcing the .patch file to be recreated, and have forced verify on a number of occasions, but all comes back to the same problem.
Any suggestions?
