Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.
All I can say, is that better not be Kahn. Kahn is supposed to still be frozen in the S.S Botany Bay. And Yes I know this is a different timeline, however Nero corrupted the timeline around 2240, Kahn was cast into space in 1996.

Watch till the end for the extra footage. Spock death scene inbound?
Though something about this reminds me of The Dark Knight Rises. ESPECIALLY with scared San Fransiconians (I think?) and wonton cityscape destruction.
THE ENTERPRISE IS AQUATIC?! That's news to me. I thot impulse drives (assuming they are distant descendents of ion impulse drives) couldn't work in atmosphere.
"Last Engage! Magical Girl Origami-san" is in print! Now with three times more rainbows.
If you freeze frame the bit when Benedict is flying through the air then starts beating on two people, they look like Klingons. They have the mask, looks like a baldric on one, and a bat'leth in the hand of the other one.
Yes, those are definitely klingons. They wear the same coats and helmets like the guards on the deleted Rura Penthe scenes from the 2009 movie. I must admit I kinda like Abrams version of klingons, they seem more uniform and cunning like TOS-Klingons and less like a bunch of wild Space Orcs like they are depicted later on.
The thing that always stops me thinking its Kahn is Benedict is not Asian. The man is white as a snowflake. I know this is a reboot, but its not 100% rebooted as the characters are still meant to be the people they were before nero turned up. Kahn must be played by an indian/asian looking actor. (ricardo was mexican after all).
also if you jump to 0.46 cumberbatch has a starfleet symbol on his top.
The first ship coming out of the water may be the enterprise. But if you pause while the second emerges the nacelles look rectangular. Like TWOK. In fact I also cant see the secondary hull, I think I should be able to.
As a time traveller, Am I supposed to pack underwear or underwhen?
Not everything you see on the internet is true - Abraham Lincoln
It can't be Gary Mitchell. He didn't want "vengeance" because he was never wronged. Also his eyes looked like silver and he did psychic stuff with his mind that made him impossible to fight.
This must be Khan. So he was probably found much sooner than in Space Seed. Doesn't matter.
They have a tie-in comic which retold "Where No Man Has Gone Before" in the Abramsverse.
Gary Mitchell is already a guy who got god powers and died in the Abramsverse.

This looks like a good movie but JJ's Star Trek is beginning to look less and less like Star Trek and more and more like Die Hard in Space. It's pretty clear to me JJ has never even watched Star Trek, it's not all about killing and explosions, it's about exploration, not only exploration of space but an exploration of the human condition.
To me JJ's films are just exploitative popcorn movies designed to rake in as much cash as possible and using the Star Trek IP as a wrapper. I hope I'm wrong, but even the poster picture looks more like Batman than Picard.
Yeah ... I enjoyed the first one, but this one feels like he has completely derailed the concept that is Star Trek.
When it comes down to it ... He might just make Star Trek Online look like the true Trek power and storyline when its all over.

If you do the research, you'll know that he DOES have a general knowledge of ST, but prefered Star Wars as a child They needed a new take on the franschise for the general audience, ie not made specifically for ST fans. What better way to get that than from him?
You probably won't like it, but that is the perspective about this whole thing: He knows what ST was about, and he's making sure this new Trek isn't like it, because that's the point. It has ST's name, and it's characters, but that's about it in similarities. But rather than focus on comparsions, I'll personally enjoy it on it's own merits, as a standalone alternate version of ST
And on this thread's note, definitely liked the trailer (though the woman with blond hair's acting could have been shot better), and am excited for it. Villian sounds like Khan in wording, but looks like Gary Mitchell... hmm, will have to see about that.
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
The more important question is, who is the Blonde? The more I look at her, the more I think it's Elizabeth Dehner. http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Dehner but doesn't she die in JJ's Where No Man Has Gone Before? I still think this guy moves like an augment though.
Looks like a combination of disaster movies (ships crashing into cities, people running around, CGI demolitions everywhere) and a super hero movie.
Also, is it me or does it seem (at least from the trailer) that this movie will mostly take place on Earth...if so then that's not much STAR Trek as it is Earth Trek...
Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see...

i think its you. The initial attack takes place on earth, but that might be 15 minutes out of a 2 to 2.5 hour film.
thats also a little like saying star trek IV, and first contact is earth trek. Those films are almost entirely on earth too (IV more so than first contact).

Im not saying that means anything as anyone can be given a starfleet top.
but the whole white/british actor thing is standing in the way of me seeing him as khan.

This is Gary Mitchell, back from the grave.
You're right, sir. And I SWEAR he got our ridges wrong.

The sun is a waste of space when it comes to fact checking. they will just use the latest rumour and peddle it off as a fact.

Well, yeah. I didn't say the Sun was right :P
Perhaps it's Khan Mitchell, genetically engineered cross breed of Khan and Gary Mitchell?
