Fleet Commander
Caprica's Revenge (...actually active since November 2010, which may one day be important to archaeologists, but not to anyone else...)
Yes indeed....sorry about that. Left the screen up and went to check the mail, and my kid (English major, go figure) decided she'd make commentary. So, whoever wrote the post, many apologies if you were offended.
Of course, it is kind of funny I suppose, because I don't know what the poster is saying exactly - hard to read. But, if you are saying: "too much for too little," I agree with you!

Its crippling ours. We started off at 100 people, and where slowly growing, and I put allot of stuff into that starbase. I know there's a few otehrs who put jsut as much. but Our fleet leader has been bankrupting all his toons to try and keep the Dil supply up, and he's getting pissed. We've lost a few others as well. I would not claim that 100 Members is a small fleet.
I checked all our starbase upgrades today, each and every one needs 200K Dil. So that's 1mill dil needed to advance, and thats not even looking at the Embassay.
I have 400 fleet marks sitting there, there's several other fleet members in the same boat. Never going to be able to buy anything with it, as we can't afford to upgrade the damn starbase due to the unobtainable ammount of Dil needed.
And that's on the Klingon side! So I hate to think what the poor feds are suffering.
The irony is I was looking at buying some Zen the other day but this (and the KDF thing) put me off. So I'm hording my miniscule ammount of Dil to buy Zen instead, which adds to the drain...
Then join my fed fleet, we always have tons of dil but no fleetmarks to fill the insane requirements. I feel like a zombie farming stupid content again and again; i'd just buy progresses for dil if i was able to. We're not a big fleet but we're organized, so the main issue isn't dil but fleetmarks. Most of us are old stf-ers sitting on tons of ore anyway...
I'm also in a kdf fleet, it's the same issue, i've never been able to put any dil in any projects, but we always need more fleetmarks. Unfortunately the starbase missions are getting quite old and boring now...
Lead Content Designer Scott "Goatshark" Shicoff shares details about the first Embassy Featured Project in this entry of the Season 7 News Dev Blog series.
We are a small fleet as well only 27 active members the dilith dosnt concern us as much..we would like to see the fleet marks in the space events be more productive..for the time spent the returns are weak at best. We all choose the projects we want to undertake..the requirements are listed for upcoming projects..we as a fleet decide what to do and try to do them in a order that best suits the 2 requirements of the fleet...#1 Have fun #2 Advance the fleet as we can
"Nanov are local to the Atali of New Romulus"... shouldn't that be Atlai?
And what happens when one becomes a mother?
Regarding graphics issues: I consistently get the "Failed to render D3D device" error when I start STO. Starting it in safe mode works, however, and I have yet to really have to reinstall or update drivers.
I have officially quit the game. No completed KDF faction no Romulan faction at all and no balance between anything. Such as Bugs/fixes, these events and the old ones for fleets. There is no need to play this garbage. This goes out to all the people who played the game since the start and have been shown that we who play this from the start till 1000 days are treated just like F2P grunts. the game has gone hill and its far from the same. additionally there were a couple too many skill tree changes before F2P how stupud are the F2Pers?

How much more negative attention does your blog posts need to get before you devs get your heads out of the clouds and realize the dilithium costs are too high? and in general, are a really bad idea? Or you dont care how many players you tick off and get to quit? As long as you make your short term gains right? If that is so, this company will crash into the ground by the end of 2013.
Not to worry though, the CEOs and Upper Management will pocket all of the profit for themselves. The company loses, the CEOs still win, the players lose, the CEOs still win.
I'm a little shocked to read about large (100+ member) fleets having trouble coming up with a few hundred thousand dilithium.
Now, don't get me wrong, I won't complain a peep if the devs decide to lower the dilithium cost on projects. However, my own fleet - which has about a dozen active members - has had no problem competing all of the optionals. We still have plenty of dilithium left over (one of our members bought a Regent recently with dilithium he saved up and converted to Zen).
A 100 member fleet is looking at 2,000 dilithium per member to complete an optional. A 300 member fleet like the one described earlier is looking at less than 700 per member.
If my little bitty fleet can carry a distributed load of 16,000+ per member for the optional, I just don't understand why coughing up 2,000 or less is a problem.
Help me understand the problem here... because I don't see how a couple hundred thousand dilithium is out of line for a project like this. Is it just because the majority of fleet members aren't contributing dilithium? If so that seems more like a fleet management challenge than a problem with the pricing.

FWIW, the fleet I'm in- 500 members- usually fills these projects within five to ten minutes.

200k x5= 1 million
+ Embassy costs, all taken out of the requirements for your own Character... Not everyone has that much stuff floating around spare. That means the slack has to be taken up by others.
Luckily there's changes in place over the next two weeks.

Don't you guys buy the elite/advanced gear or anything? I know I can grind up a ton of dilithium, then spend it like there's no tomorrow gearing up.
I'm a little shocked to read about large (100+ member) fleets having trouble coming up with a few hundred thousand dilithium.
If you think that's bad, feel for those in smaller fleets. Think the FED fleet I'm in has like, 15 members, and half of them (myself currently included) don't play much, if at all any more.
I think it's safe to say that most of us have seen it, though (as I've mentioned) that update doesn't cover the one big thing that is bothering me about season 7; the duty officer exchange prices. End Result (after all the exchanging) works out at around 30,000 dilithium just for a single purple duty officer which might turn out to be a Bartender or Chef. The joke is on us.
If I'm not mistaken, all the Featured projects for the Embassy were completed several weeks ago, if not longer. These were already developed and will come out every-other week until they go into "re-runs" for fleets that didn't have a chance/ want to do a project the first time around. The team is working on the issues you described and will continue to do so, even while developing new content.
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=
so in addition to the actual fleet base and all its dilithium costs, you expect fleets to be able to pony up an extra 200k every other week if they want their embassy to have all the stuff too?
thats a bit much. why arent these projects at a reduced cost like all the other embassy projects?
i would mention something about how pvp could use some new maps but... i have a feeling it would be on deaf ears.
Yeah, I've given up on all of these things. It's just depressing how much Dilithium everything needs. I'm the only active member in my fleet, I can't afford it all any more.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.

I agree. Most of the people complaining about the cost strike me as people who want it for free.... which defeats the purpose of it being a special project.

Pretty sure our base won't bother with the embassy featured projects, or at least that's the case I'll make to our leader

God, lvl 60 CW. 17k.
the special project looks cool but,
it would be nice every once in a while to have a special project to cost something else other then dilithium.
By Fleet marks I meant fleet crdits (IE: things to spend in the starbase on Fleet ships).
And is your fleet Gorn only, dedicated to indipendance of the Gorn Empire?

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

Think I'll save my dilithium for things like the advanced/elite gear from our starbase.
Or maybe, for some of the new reputation stuff.
Either way, I'm not grinding for this type of content.
