Is there a reason why the portraits of my characters and bridge officers don't use the same ones as they do in-game? They just look very weird for some reason...a lot more shadows and wrinkles then I had intended for my characters to have. I suppose the portraits are the same as the ones from the old Captain's bio system, but they're very unappealing in this format. It would be great if portraits could be upgraded.
Loving the STO Gateway concept and the potential it could bring to the game; making our characters look nice would be the icing on the cake.
Having it default to allowing others to view ANYTHING about my character or ship I don't SPECIFICALLY authorize I consider an invasion of my personal privacy. What possible privacy interest could you have in in-game information like the layout of your ship? What could anyone possibly do with it to harm you?

Maybe some people are just very self concious about ship layout for some weird reason. looks great so far. portraits do kinda look odd. Doff system would be cool, though I think 90% of the posts so far also mention that.
along with the awkward looking pics, I want to point out something else that might be interesting for update/fixing.
I noticed with one of my Captains (who has a winter scarf/jacket) that it seems to only show your character in whatever is in their default/first uniform slot. Any changes to the character outfit but not to the first uniform slot do not get reflected in the picture.

I go onto "spy central" and find out your weapons rig and consoles
suppose you are tetryon heavy
I change my ARMOUR and Shields to counter
suppose you are armoured against plasma
I change my weapons load to remove plasma and replace with Tricobalt

with even BASIC info some people will CHEAT
most of what you write here is visible in the game anyway...i see if you use tetryons, i see if you use plasma torps...i see your antimatter spread, etc...
other console stups are just a nobrainer...a good fleet tac escort retrofit will be using 5 consoles of the same energy type, or some builds for PVP are "just" cookie cutter builds with little modifications.
so the infos you can get are available anyway to a certain degree, you just need to look carefully and have an idea of how the gamemechanic functions...this takes dedication ofcourse...with this new tool the less dedicated have a little edge now, if they actually use that info, which is doubtfull given the experiance from other MMOs with such tools.
I've never had ANY issue where it said down for maintenance. You guys' must be having a local issue, maybe? Perhaps it just doesn't like IE?
My only true issue is that the gateway does NOT update uniform changes correctly. The first time I changed my uniform after using it the gateway updated within 13 hours. I changed it again, and it has now been over a week. Also, for some reason it displays my shuttle as my active craft and not my actual ship irregardless of which one I am really using.

i would like sto gateway to be accessible on my windows phone
and be allowed to see(view only) dilithium exchange on sto gateway.
Between Fleet, Embasy, Romulan, and Omega reputation systems, winter event, and all of the Doff missions to keep up with in between, I want a full featured app that allows me to do damn near everything in game except control my character / fly my ship. :cool:
I have not read every page, so these have probably been mentioned. If so, just count these as another "yes" vote.
1. An end to static lag. On every map I visit more than once, on any toon I play, my motion pauses in the exact same places every time; I can line up the toon and set it to auto run through a lag patch and, eventually, it will come out the other side. Memory Alpha is the worst, since there are few straight lines.
2. An end to PvE gankfests where a Captain (rank) in an escort upgrade with all purple gear cannot solo a single enemy ship, regardless of faction or type, under 85% before getting blown up again. Six in a row has made me quit combat completely.
3. I know it is the holiday weekend, but no toon should be stuck in an EmptyMap for more than an hour with a GM help request ticket on file and a) no GM help or even b) a live mail bot indicating the ticket was even received.
So, . . .
Short term: Get me out of the EmptyMap . . .
Mid term: . . . so I can do things other than combat and not have my motion frozen when I do those things.
Long term: None. There is no point in trying to play a game that randomly lock toons in limbo or makes it unpleasant to revisit common maps.
(And, no, I am not quitting, I can just take another couple years off. Besides, the toon in limbo is the one with the stuff you would want anyway.)

It still keeps telling me that the gateway is closed for maintenance. I've tried from my laptop, my wifes laptop, and my android phone. They all say the same thing.
It's not cheating ... its research. Besides, if they can do use it to cheat, then so can you

- my Captain's equipment does not show on her profile.
- my BOffs skills are not listed in rank order. IOW, for example, my Tac BOffs Ensign ability is HTY1, but it's third on the Space skills list.
Otherwise, Gateway is a very cool tool to use when not in-game for planning purposes.

Bitter but true, they all seem the ESD contact to Memory Alpha, which should not be the case.
I still dream from time to time about using the Gateway to doff off-game in spare minutes as we were told
I also keep getting "one-time activation codes" on my iphone, though i always tick the "remember browser" option. Other than that, the app is great.

O if you download google chrome as others have had some success with it you may have to put in a code sent via e-mail to you.
If you give up and go back to old stable IE guess what. Another message sent to you to put in the dang code but a new message sent to you.
Can we add the ability to delete character information by just trying to log in? That would make this even more useful :mad:

I am using Windows 8 IE browser in desktop mode, anyone know how to fix this?
I can't access it from the desk top which is on 8 but the laptops which are on 7 work fine
