Hey, maybe they're realize 'don't tick off your fans' and whip the IP into shape. They've done alright with Marvel. Could be a good thing.
Exactly, they did OK with Pirates of the Caribbean as well (the first couple anyway), so I say bring it on as long as George Lucas isn't directing. Man has a genius imagination and comes up with some wonderfully intricate plots, but he seems to have lost his ability to direct and get the best out of actors.
So, brainstorm everyone! Who would you get to direct the next Star Wars?
"The latest part of the Star Wars saga, Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for a 2015 release."
So, Truce at Bakura: The Movie, or prepare for basically the whole extended universe to get downgraded from C to N canon? Not that this would be a bad thing with as bad as some of its gotten over the years.
Edit: and speaking of what Disney did with Marvel, I'm really hoping they just start throwing money around to get the movie rights to the rest of the universe back under one roof. Just the X-men would open up so many awesome possibilities, seeing as something like half of the classic matchups were Wolverine vs. Somebody.

I'd go for Ron Howard or Jon Favreau.
I thought the fourth Pirates was pretty good too! Definately a new story arc getting started but not bad.

I really hope not. Better to go Legacy Era or further. It seems like the further away from the Skywalker Dynasty the stories get, the better they are.
The trouble is Lucas has vetoed killng luke for AGES. it's hard to write good stories when you've allways got a main character who cna bassiclly i win allmost anything that comes along, and anything he even vaugely struggles against is so far beyond everyone else as to render them moot.
Intresting move, i'm shocked he let the licence go tbh...
...Then again if he did I'm sure he's gonna get royalties, and you know how Disney milks their IP, and Lucas now has 2 billion in Disney shares.
<grin>
Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, The Last Command) are still my favourite Star Wars sequels. But since they're set only five years after Return of the Jedi, I think they're pretty safe. If they want to use the original actors to play the same characters in Episode VII, it's going to have to be set a good thirty years after Jedi. Either that, or they'll go even further and do a whole new generation.

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!
Well This link says it all. Star Wars is not dead it seems. Disney wants to make some serious money off it so Episodes 8 and 9 will follow.
Your take on this?

star wars on screen is almost untouched with only 6 films under its belt (if you dont count the cartoons and stuff) so there is tons of ways they can go with this. some of the books and games have showed how good star wars can be when done right.
yes there is always the risk it could suck, but you get that with any film, but i doubt disney paid all that money to go and make a half baked film. i expect the first one to be pretty spectacular.
Star Wars Kingdom Hearts with Mickey, Goofy, Han Solo and Princess Lea all wield light sabers.
(Seriously, one of the MAIN problems with the Star Wars films was George Lucas himself. If Disney actually hires someone who can write better dialogue, and a story that makes sense, this could be a good thing for the Star Wars franchise overall. We'll get someone concerned with the overall story and not jut the look of the Yoda 3D model for one particular scene. )

I'm not sure about this, it could go either way - but I'm glad Star Wars is going to be on the big screen again, I just hope that the story is set a long time after the Skywalker Era. It's over and done with, and Disney should move Star Wars forward.
