"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
Yeah this is kinda interesting. I'd love to see the backstory for this mission. If they're artificially enhanced clones it's hard to say what they'll be able to do.
I think more than anything I'm just tired of STO. If it weren't for the fact I'd be leaving my fleetmates high and dry on the projects (I'm the dilithium whale) I'd probably take a month or two off.
and yeah, salt zombies in space isn't really raising the enthusiasm level much.
I will say someone did an excellent job on the critter, thou. Looks spot on to the TOS one. Same high quality work someone put in on the Morn toon.

And your point is what exactly? Just wanting everyone to know what an unhappy camper you are? Well rest assured, we get it lil fellah. Thanks for sharing though. Cool story and all

Actually, I was answering Jexsam. Maybe you noticed how I quoted him in my post?
Despite what your parents have probably told you, not every conversation is about you or requires your input.
Seriously, buddy - you like the stuff, got it. Move along and find someone else to troll.
I genuinely got excited when i saw the picture, but i think they should have left the genetic engineering bit out, it would have been a great plot twist. I'm looking forward to playing this one.

If they had left the part out about the genetic engineering, someone would have punked them for spontaneouly resurrecting them when the one that McCoy killed was supposedly the last one.

Wow, someone is definitely touchy! That said, I dont know if I will like this new content or not for one simple reason: I havent tried it. But enjoy playing the same old same old while the rest of us are at least doing something new
"We don't believe that a creature like that wouldn't attack a Romulan, though"
I'm thinking you want to change one of those negatives, there.
yes, though the part they should really change is where they say it won't normally attack a romulan because of its copper based blood. if it lives off salt, the copper should have nothing to do with it, just the plasma sodium
i'm more concerned with this whole 20 man mission thing. its hard enough to get 5 people together and cooperating to do an STF. I have serious doubts whether 20 will even work from a practical point of view.
its getting more and more blatantly obvious that this season has little to nothing to do with story and everything with forcing people to group to do anything worth doing, and grind their butts off with anything else
Why not? It's unexpected so it's really interesting!
that fact that they were shown to be extinct comes to mind as a reason. its rather difficult to genetically engineer a base species that no longer exists to start with
I vote we call them Romulan-hating-Salt-Zombies.
as long as they aren't called rombies for short

which doesn't explain how they managed to genetically engineer an extinct species in the first place. frankly, its tacky

Perhaps someone used a sample of their DNA to clone them, like in Jurassic Park.

Maybe Dr. McCoy was incorrect in his Medical assumption that they were extinct. After all he was only a Human in space. and they haven't fixed Human Error in Star trek yet.

The TOS ep clearly stated that the Salt Vampires don't like feeding on beings with copper based blood. Why? who knows.... but it's canon that they don't. Obviously Romulans(and half-Vulcan hybrids, like Spock) have enough salt, maybe the Salt vampires don't like the taste of Cyanoglobin? Or maybe it's some other quirk of Vulcan/Romulan biochemistry, but they don't like to feed on them.

Nicely done.
No, you won't. You may enjoy it, others may enjoy it, but no one can enjoy it on my behalf.
Please, if you are looking to troll, do it elsewhere. You aren't very good at it.
I'm going to enjoy it so much for you, whether you like it or not
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
I take it you're not a fan of this idea.

By all means, don't play if you don't like it.

Vast, beautiful zones that bring to mind my favorite parts of other MMOs. New mini games. Interesting objectives. TONS of canon goodness.
There's as much canon and ground gameplay coming as there are in all the FEs put together, practically.
I haven't personally done Mine Trap or the space missions yet but they look glorious.
Whatever issues I have with systems or rollout, this is at least a season where I can see where all the work is going.
I just hope the adventure zones become an ongoing new fixture and don't wind up as a minor borderline abandonware systems.

I desperately want to make this happen. IF someone does succeed, upload photos!

Hey, I got no problem. I just seem to have picked up my own personal troll is all. Yay?
I'm done feeding him thou. I'll just pretend this is the old forum where you could ignore annoying people and not have to see their crazy talk.
WOULD BE NICE TO PLAY FOR HALLOWEEN WEEKEND THOUGH. AND IT'S A followup TO A TOS EPISODE.
I can still move.
I can still fight.
I will never give up!

Oh, yeah, and that worked out well for everybody.
If I see a rombie (which is an awesome thing to call them, Lazarus) with little T-Rex arms, now I will know exactly what happened.
