Didn't the area map show what planets we needed to patrol with a dotted yellow circle? I thought other patrol missions previous to this new content did.

So I'm at Japori, I played the space mission there..win, warp out. And I would think that once I finish that particular mission that it would no longer be available...that I would have to fly to a different planet...but I can stay at Japori and play the same mission over and over until I complete the patrol mission.

Had a few enemies on New Romulus spawn in the ground or in a rock. The ground just kept them from moving, but the rock made it so I couldn't damage the enemy, but they could shoot me.

New romulus would also be a great new map to put a lot of diplomatic, purely story based missions.

these would be like the ones on vulcan, k7, bajor etc, where there are disputes or puzzles to solve.

I could not test the embassy as Earth Space-dock did not allow me to create a fleet on Friday and Saturday.

The "insect repellent" did not work on New Romulus...keep spraying and nothing happens except for me dying.

Further the lag was so bad on new Romulus...I could hardly control my character.

I also had some patching problems......

When you spray the bugs, don't stand in the middle of them. If you get too many bites, they WILL kill you. Start spraying them just before you get to them.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not...

Played some of the missions on New Romulus, and the I found that my character can walk through the mother Nortov (?) at the south end of the river.

But all in all, great art for the scenes!

I tried an hour to get on that stupid rock with my Vulcan main, and neither an engineer twink with generously applied cover shields is able to get up there.

    Bad taco!

Sorry, I don't know them by name. Which is this?

When they were first put in, I made sure I could climb each one with my pudgy little Tellarite. So I know they did work.

Recently, Swall retopologized the rocks, to improve performance. I've found at least one that I could no longer scale, so I've corrected that on my end. Should be accessible soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It's the rock you need to climb on so you can jump on the building in the staging area.

It looks like it would be a smooth climb but after the first jump from the 'supposed' access side you slide down. My cat only was able to scale it by using another 'smaller' rock on the right side of it (making a side entrance!). But that option is clearly cat only.

Any bugs, comments, or concerns can go here!

This involves the system map, and any mission or environmental issues on the ground map.

I noticed that the usual way you can select a npc by clicking on the icon seemed to fail it gave you a point reference instead of the highlight circle I was mostly in memory prime so don't know if it was universal just pointing out an environmental bug. Thanks otherwise it was beautiful.

I tested around 2am PDT time to make sure I was going to have a good connection. My main issue I had was a grahpical one. When in the large, open areas the graphics became rather choppy. I think the problem came from the fading of background structures.
When running towards the embassy passed the shuttle in the staging area, small ground plants would appear in full detail only a few meters away. However, the embassy far away was in full detail the entire time. I would suggest a less detailed version of things at far distances to cut down on the power needed by the graphics processor and making a smoother running experience.

    I just remembered a Space-based bug:
I entered a Space-based Red Alert to fight the Tholians. When I respawned after dying, my ship controls were locked out. Appeared to me that my ship was dead set on following a hostile target and moved itself accordingly. Once the hostile target died, ship controls were returned to me.

This bug was also reported on Holodeck here. At the time, I did not know to try to de-target as some of the posters there have suggested.

First of all thanks for the opportunity to test the season 7 content. Cheers!

I'd like to separate my post to 2 sections. Most of the people focus on the surface of the planet, but I'd like to speak about the system also. So let me start with the painful one, the system.

-Exterior: The problems with New Romulus starts on the galaxy map. The system text tells very little about the system except for a mystery which may or may not be solved during our stay there. There is no reference to the 2 different stars in this system and their effects on New Romulus and the other planets. Also after entering the New Romulus area the two suns looks quite different from the ones on the galaxy map.
Now that we are inside, let me talk about the planet area. The players enter to the area from the dark side of planet. First I didn't noticed, but after a few entries to the system I found it odd. So I took a short trip to the light side of the planet when I realized what is wrong here: the planets texture looks awful. From the dark side it's hard to take notice, but this planet is not pretty.
The first thing you'll notice when you look on the planet is the huge gas/magnetic field thingy, which is a bit overdone in my opinion, even if it looks great. Also it is funny how the 'field' is gravitating toward to the huge blue nebula which fills the entire sector to the west. And that leads to the biggest problem I have with this system.
The sector's area is just simply too small. The nebula to the west (which is HUGE, and I don't know why it cannot be seen on the galaxy map) would be a great opportunity for missions, for example search for missing ships. On the other end of the planet there is a moon and a half, which is also 'out of bounds', could have been a great place for EV suit missions, like helping the romulans establish a mining/colony base, or a mission to find out what happened to the other moon.
Last but not least there is a transwarp gate in the system, that is... unusable. There is no menu to launch from, nothing. If that's an entry point for diplomacy rank 4 captains (which I'm not, yet), then you should update the rest of the transwarp destination systems with a gate (which they are not, I checked).
On the positive side tho, the system looks good overall, and the ability to beam to the embassy or the city directly is a good addition. Now on to the planet itself.

-Planet surface: Now this is a much different cup of cafe. The job you did here is excellent. I don't know if the cut-scenes should trigger on a captain's first entry to the area, but I watched it later (it was a great idea adding this option), and they were great. The actual characters are good, and the voice overs are great too, I'm pleasantly surprised. I also like the idea of bringing one of our bridge officer with us. While he/she can prove to be very helpful in combat, I would like to see some interaction between the captain and the officer.
The landscape is breathtaking. The area is not just bigger, it's better to. Better design, better layout. Whatever direction you took as a company, it payed off here. This 'city limit' camp where we beam down is great, but I can see just as much from the city that I want to get inside. Seeing the remans houses on the port gives the feeling of hope of peaceful cooperation. However, the wilderness is tempting for exploration too. I love the layout, the paths we take, the bridges, the river, the wildlife, the ancient ruins, it was a pleasant trip to go around. I'm not sure, but it seems to me that the area is 4 times the size of the previous maps, and that may be a sign of an improving engine, which is great.
OK, enough of the area, you gt the idea. Let me talk about the quests and the NPCs involved. I cannot say anything bad about this either. I haven't done much of them (still need to feel surprised when it goes live), but it seems to me there is a lot to do here. Every area have it's own set of goals (I mean problems), and this GW2ish approach works very well with the game. Not just the multi-goal quest system, the random area events too. I really hope it will succeed. And I can't wait to find out the story behind the planet's past. The transporter pattern quest was a great idea. As for the NPCs, I like how they are engaging in different activities around the camp, or how you can motivate them in certain quests. I also like the way how some unexpected NPCs turn up, like the hirogen hunters or the tal shiar agents. I also loke how the wildlife is there on the planet and you can learn more about them from NPCs.
While New Romulus looks like to be a great addition to the game, there are a few issues here are there. The area map loses resolution on the edges, or should I say far away from the character. Also there are NPCs stuck in the rocks near some of the camps, and some of the tal shiar invaders have a tendency to hide inside rocks.

But other than that, it's a solid job and I'm looking forward to play on this area and explore more of this planet and the storyline.

It might be a good idea to mention which instances unlock on new romulus as part of the romulan progression UI.

This way players can easily see what new missions will unlock while looking at the progression unlocks.

BTW, while trying to get that impossible Waterfall Accolade, I had to question why is the landscape so lumpy?

If you look at the terrain it starts looking like the planet is a bunch of green potatoes lumped together........

    Update to build ST.25.20121026a.8

I was able to finally get onto that rock with several attempts of motion accelerated run-up and a generous dose of luck. No dice with cover shield though, and the cat still has to take the 'side street'.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I noticed it over the test weekend, then forgot about it until now:

A cutscene plays when you first beam down to New Romulus. That's fine. But when I first beamed down, the on-demand patching started grabbing updates and I walked away from the computer to get a snack. Consequently, I missed most of the cutscene.

That's a really minor issue, but it's something that I think may happen to a lot of people.

If that happens, and you miss the cutscene, go to the console near Kovik, or whatever his name is, and replay it. It's called something like Arrival Log.

An issue I had today. I was trying to do the Embassy daily which requires you to fly around the planet to scan radiation.

As soon as I entered the areas where they were marked on the map they disappeared and I got no credit for them. My science officer said I had scanned on the first one, but then nothing. I wasn't able to complete the mission. Bad glitch Bad Bad.

I'm still having issues with seeming to be pushed back when running, like digital slipping.

And when flying around the planet the camera seems to jump into the back of my ship several times, consistently.

I'm still having fun there though. Can't wait for this to get live so please fix the glitches. :P

I was in a Tholian DSE by myself and only got 15% towards the Tholian Daily mission; that seems low for a solo completion and even with a group it shoud be 20-25% (4xDSE for daily patrol). :o

Am I the only one who starts doing math when I am ant farming in the denture zone ?

Like go click 10 items, my mind is put so little to work it starts working on something else.
How many items am I going to click for t5 ? If it takes 15 seconds between each item, how much time would it take etc.

... damn, they need a lot of water samples for this here colony

Maybe I am old and I am a primadonna but I just feel degrated doing it you know. I am not uitilizing any skills or creativity, just astronomical hamster wheelie - seriously I could see myself giving up on life if I had to spend my recreational time doing something so uintelligent and pointless.

I played the vault ensnared and the other space romulan marks mission, azura nebula I think.
And the first thing you will notice is one is guaranteed marks, perhaps not a lot depending on your team, but for 7 minutes worth you will get something.
Whereas in the vault you can actively fail and come out with nothing.

Guess which mission I will be farming :D

But hey again, hands up for the bug spray, the new poor man's party popper, 5 x those in a boff's inventory it's going to be supreme (assuming they fix the animations by tuesday)

    Hi all:

For all of you complaining about rocks. The waterfall, staging area view, and tree accolades are all attainable either by running and rolling (Press QQ) or jumping and rolling. Yes, it's tricky and might take a couple of tries, but doable without having to wait until the game gets patched.

    Running and rolling (Waterfall)
Jumping and rolling (Staging View and Tree Rock)
