They could just let us know now what the conversion rate will be, unless of course they don't know, which is scary considering how far along Season 7 is suppose to be.
Like others, i was burned bad with the last conversion of marks to currency, and i have been spending mine like crazy.
I'm keeping my salvage in hopes for the Veteran BOFF!
Never gonna happen - that Cryptic doesn't exist any more. In fact, it was Borticus that pushed for that and he's the one ramming this new system down our throats - the official word is 'no free rep' - at best we'll get some Elite Marks that won't be worth as much Dilithium as EDCs are, at worst you'll get a pile of Omega Marks which are worthless since each STF grants about 60 of 'em and you only need a handful for each project.
I'm waiting to see what turns up in the blog post but as you can imagine, I'm not optimistic.
This is one of those issues i'd really wish a dev would comment on beyond "wait for the blog". With a lot of the changes to the system as well as a lot of the negative reputation Cryptic has with the fans, i'm really not expecting this to go that well, especially seeing how so many other things lately have just made it worse. Has anyone been on to tribble to test this yet?
So, every borg weapon and set item will cost dilithium, not only mkxii. The edc's will disappear as i understand it and be replaced by reputation? Does that mean that we will earn dilithium by doing stf's? Or will the rewards only be prototypes and salvages?
I make between 1-2 k dilithium per day because I just don't have the time to grind, so I hope they won't cost too much. Otherwise I'll go with crafted weapons.
A contract is a contract...(but only between Ferengi).

For an STF, you get Omega marks and some dilithium (elite STFs give an additional 1 Elite Omega Mark). Omega marks can be spent (along with other ressources, like dilithium) in the reputation system that unlocks you (eventually, on different tiers) various store additions, like Mk XII [Borg] weapons. We don't yet know all the prices, however, devs have stated a full (3-piece) Mk XII set (Omega, MACO, KHG) will cost over 100k dilithium and 1 Mk XII weapon around 14k dilithium.
I assume that in the end, the price of crafting a (Mk XI) weapon and "getting one as a reward for STFs" will be pretty even (like getting one from the Dil-store right away). Funny, given you actually have to unlock the new "Omega reputation store", or whatever they call it.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

I wouldn't dare call stuffing a bunch of vouchers and some ill conceived currency for an item, a "craft" system.
Ah. well, there's not really much reason I'm seeing to hit STF's post season 7 if I'm enticed back to STO.
Now, if they did something like WoW's rep gain. (do missions tied to said group, gain rep!) I could see it working fine. But having to literally pay (ingame stuff) to get rep up to get those items? I was seriously burnt out after trying to get my XII final piece (ground) on my KDF science officer. I'm not seeing stuff that would interest me in STF's again.
when the personal reputation system comes out will our edcs be turned into omega marks or will we have to recycle them? or should we use them while we can?

I'm telling everyone to gear up all their alts to at least have the 4 borg pieces, and to use up all proto techs until they have as much gear as they feel they could possibly want... anything extra I suggest gets cashed out for Dil asap.
Yea, that's all fine and dandy, but there are no numerals in that blog. For all we know, it's all 1 Omega Mark per item, regardless of what it is. We're kinda hoping for numbers.
And where are the Conversion Rates? No numbers released... per usual, from Cryptic. We never got the numbers for the Dilithium Conversion pre-F2P.
Good point. Last time we heard "conversion" and got no numbers, we got Ferengi'd. BranFlakes, you're a good guy. Be a good Community Rep, and tell us, what ARE the numbers?
So if I read this right, we won't be able to access anything that gets converted until after we hit Tier 5 on Omega Reputation.
This begs two very important questions:
1. Will those of us with previous accolade unlocks start at higher tiers of Omega Reputation? I haven't seen a word about this from the Devs (so I'm thinking no).
2. How long do the Devs see getting to Tier 5 taking, for a casual player (assuming 5 hours per week)?
- The conversion will be different from everyone which is why we aren't posting a chart. When you get your crate, it will tell your character specifically how much Omega Marks, Borg Neural Processors, and Dilithium your items were converted to. If you are worried that the exchange may not be to your liking, then you'll have to make the call whether to spend or not. For the most part we are posting this blog to give you enough time to make that call for yourself.

According to A chat with Bort, No... we all start at 0
2. How long do the Devs see getting to Tier 5 taking, for a casual player (assuming 5 hours per week)?
From what I've seen on tribble, its 5000, 10000 (if memory serves) and so on, each mission rewarding around 50 Marks...

Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
The answer to the Original post is no all that we have spent 100s of hours on will not even be given to us until after we have done all the work and will have enough to buy the gear just from grinding the new system.
"All types of these items will be immediately converted ... ... which cannot be retrieved until the character reaches Tier 5
Or in other words, if you don't play the reputation system to max you get nothing
I love the word "immediate" in that statement. It's so immediate in fact it might never take place !
Also:
After reviewing the data, the conversion rate for most players will allow for the purchase of a partial and in some case full set of their choosing
Same irony, bringing up the word "data" and then going off in a completely different direction by being totally unspecific.
Yes the numbers where are they. You bring them up to not show them
Ultimate pr mind f.. right there x 2.
Since we aren't allowed to not stay out of the reputation system and aren't allowed to see the numbers I am going to go ahead say I will be turning in everything I have
Comments
wait until its all up, transfer character. cash in and see the results. then decide.
Do it. Do it!!!
500 years in the future and we still look like schmucks when getting our ID photos taken...

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

Is this rep system an account-wide thing, or can one expect to do that grind on every single character?
But i could be wrong.

This will answer your questions for now.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
I am affraid I am blind... I see no conversion rates in that one.

I'm still unsure about this. Definitely going to sleep on it and revisit it in the morning.

Well I guess we can infer that we better use them now as the conversion rates are so bad they're too cowardly to publish them.
