Unscheduled Account Sever Maintenance (October 18, 2012)

Hi Captains,

We're performing unscheduled account server maintenance. Players who are in the game currently should be unaffected. Players who log out, switch characters, or are logged out currently will not be able to get back into STO until maintenance is complete. Please watch this thread for updates.

    Would been nice to have an in game announcement so I wouldn't have logged out. :rolleyes:

    Wouldnt have mattered....I was in game, got kicked out, and couldn't get back in.

    Are we able to find out why? Is it related to the fleet project not going live?

    This affects the dilithium exchange as well. If you're going to shout something across the game, you can save yourself a lot of bug reports if you mention that along with it. (Though not the account bank, apparently. Would've thought that'd be affected as well.)

    Not twenty mins ago I reinstalled Windows and tried to run STO; and was greeted by this Unable to Authenticate error messege. I'm very glad its a server issue and not my end lol

    Agreed. Logged out to mail something to myself and couldn't log back in.
    I am glad the maintenance is happening.
    But an In Game announcement would have been nice, 5 , 10 or even 2 minutes out.

    Wow. I'm glad it wasn't just me. Must have been one heck of a virus or something to shut the whole thing down. Maybe the login server farm just caught fire.

    Disappointing, I thought this had been quelled, but I guess this stuff happens.

    I can't even log in and it's 5:11PM CST, can't even authenticate.

    My guess

    Problem is with the login / authenticate into game end of things.
    Server doesn't need to come down, but the way to get into it does to fix the "cannot authenticate" problem people have been experiencing.
    Here's hoping it doesn't take too long.
    It is something that REALLY needs to be fixed , so very glad it's happening, but I know I wouldn't have logged out if there had been some kind of warning In game.

    Well I can login online but cannot log into the game.
    'Account Server Timeout' is all im getting, sigh can't even play tonight not impressed.

    But it's not up if it's only playable by those who were logged in before, but then today all I'm finding is more evidence we won't be listened to. Every other MMO developer would change to yellow or red in this situation.

    Unable to authenticate from London as at 23:18 GMT. My account is 0 Zen/Inactive, though I'm a lifetime subscriber.

    And I'm off to bed. Best of luck getting it sorted.

    And people, please understand they are doing this to help us.
    This maintenance needs to happen to fix a VERY big problem.
    Don't RAGE at them for trying to help us.

    Just a moment of take a deep breath, remember this is only a game.
    We play it for fun.
    Other things can be fun too.
    Go outside and play frizbee with a friend, or your dog.
    Make some popcorn and watch a movie.
    Call your family just to say Hi.
    Play Settlers of Catan with someone.

    The server will return eventually, and we will all get to go pew pew the bad guys.
    There will be another Tour the Galaxy.
    There will be another STF.
    The Sky ... is not falling.

    Have a nice day.
    Me, I'm gonna go bake a pie.

    On Holodeck, logging out and switching characters is CURRENTLY the same thing. It's rather amazing that such a basic feature as being able to switch character without relogging each and every time, has taken Cryptic more than 2.5 years to finally implement. And it's technically NOT implemented, until the Season 7 build goes live sometime in November.
