So this is killing me. I've looked and fiddled and tried all sorts but whatever I do, the STO Launcher cannot update, which basically means I can't even start the game.
I have the game installed via Steam; the launcher exe runs as Admin and every time I run it I get a message saying:
Unable to establish connection to patch server. Please check your internet connection. If problems persist, please contact Technical Support.
The system is running Win7 x64; Windows Firewall is disabled. AVG firewall is disabled, My NAT router firewall is disabled. This isn't normal, I opened them all to try and make it work. The internet connection is slow (typically 1.5-2 mbit) but stable.
Traceroute to patchserver.crypticstudios.com comes back in an average of ~200 - 250ms which is not great but should work to allow the launcher to update..
Nettest results are below:

I've tried to configure firewalls but to no avail; hence disabling them. I've already reset the nics several times.
This is the second attempt at getting this to work, and I'm pretty fed up.
AVG Internet Security was causing the issue. I use 2011 and the Firewall was at fault.
Basically, when AVG added an exception to the "Star Trek Online.exe" file, it allowed access to safe networks only. My computer only has access to safe networks, but changing the setting in AVG to 'All Networks' allowed the launcher to reach the patch server. Hope that helps.
Also, my query to Customer Support was answered by a generic message which was useless, so I suspect they don't know.

I wonder if this is an update to all firewalls via Anti-virus or if it is something cryptic has changed.
