Now if only I could get it to let me use my old avatar...keeps telling me "upload of file failed" no matter how much i shrink the image or lower the quality.

EDIT: Apparently it actually took the image, but tells me that the upload failed anyway.

I hope this works for me as I have the same issue.

What a wonderful change. While it would have been better if the features of the old forum were implemented into the new one before the changeover, it is nice that they are arriving pretty quickly now.

This is the goal and I mentioned that in the OP :)

As for them being 80x80px, I tried 100x100 when I was testing but it was actually pushing the design around, so we have to keep 80x80 for now :)

I'm very happy you all are happy! Still not stopping my work on the other items, I promise.

    Cheers,

You know I may not be thrilled with the new forums, but I never thought they were too bad in the first place just taking a little to get use to the new color styles and stuff. If you can get it so that are real join date can be shown then I will be a very happy camper.

Also whenever you edit a post and hit save it takes you to a webpage saying cannot find thread.

That hasn't been happening for me, I've done a good few edits usually for word fixes right after I post and haven't seen that happen.

    Edit to check....

    Again.. longer wait

And nope, maybe it isn't everyone

You'll excuse me for not doing backflips in an overly obsequious display of exaggerated gratitude.

Having been involved in the running and administration of a few forums, and knowing how simple it is in the admin cp of most forum software to enable custom avatars, the fact that a radio button was checked in the admin CP doesn't really impress me.

And if I'm not mistaken this forum runs VBull, so setting the size limits of avatars is extremely easy.

The difficulty lies not in the technology, but in convincing those in charge of the correct usage of the technology. Much arguing and debate can be had over a simple checkbox.

The avatar size messing up the formatting is because of poorly done CSS. This isn't the 90's anymore. There's no need for image-based fixed width.

Thanks for this option.. the forums are starting to feel better, now if we can only have our original forum account creation date and the ability to see post history from ourselves and other users, I will be happy
