It's because in forum roleplay, Voporak messes around with the timeline a lot, and one of the guys from the rp thread mentioned it a few times in 10F, and centersolace got wind of it... and yeah, that's why.

Cure Ground isn't hard for any class or race in the game anymore after they obtain a STF set.
You obviously have never ran an STF with new people. Just yesterday, I was running IGE with fleetmates. One had never done ground STFs, and the other was using his newest level 50 character. Needless to say, I was the only one alive most of the time. If not for my Dodge and countless Hypos, I would have died trying to resurrect everyone.

Yes yes. To Voporak you listen. The stuff you have to pay for is SUPPOSED to be better than free stuff. That is why it is not free to start with. That is why 90% of nerf demand threads are people who have only played for a month, and never earned even so, much as a single Zen. If they don't like that you have better gear than them, they need to go earn some Zen and buy the good gear for themselves. Problem solved.

More like 90% of the threads that complain are by people who hate they can't one-shot others and it's cheating if the person can tank.

If (after S8) I made a Foundry mission with a V-rex, would anyone want to play it on Elite difficulty? I just like crazy ideas...

Also, to secure this idea, DIBS on Elite V-rex mission creation!

LMAO!!! :D Never thought I'd see the day when people start complaining about the Caitian/Ferasan racial abilities here in the FSF thread.

If the dodge percentage is gamebreaking to you, you're doing it wrong. Get a grip.

On the contrary, I do run with new players. I do a lot of ground missions, ground STFs, and ground PvP. Most of the time I solo queue, but I do team up with groups from time to time. I assume you were a Tactical officer then? Were your fleetmates also Tactical officers? If the new player was a Science officer, did you explain how to tank with the medic kit? If they were an engineer, did you explain the significance of Weapons Malfunction, Reroute Power to Shields, and Cover Shields?

There is a big difference between pay to win ships and pay to win character races. Ships of a specific faction can be swapped out interchangeably on any character of a given faction. A human may use the same ships a Vulcan may use. For ground, the equivalent of a ship would be gear or devices. There is a pay to win device, also called the gambling device. It is pay to win, but everyone may use it without rerolling a character.

Limiting such a significant advantage to one race does not promote build diversity. +10% dodge may only be +5% All Overall Damage Reduction, but that adds up over time, especially in PvP. The trait grants Caitian tactical officers superior survivability over other races using a tactical officer. You notice that Cryptic didn't pass on the Dodge bonus to Ferasans, it's because the stat created the imbalance and they wisely chose to avoid continuing down that road. Ferasans are fine, their main trait is basically two traits, which is balanced with other races thanks to Legacy of Romulus's trait revamp. The jump height is a major advantage, but it is the cat's signature quality via the C-store.

As for "buying good gear with zen", all of the good gear is obtained from the Fleet holdings or the Reputation System. You will notice that Space is fairly devoid of superior C-store items. Cryptic doesn't want to make the C-store items required for viable PvP gameplay. Items that create such imbalance, for example the plasmonic leech console, they review and make considerations on changing the item. (Plasmonic leech was recently mentioned to be under review) If you look though, the vast majority of items players use on their ships is not pay to win. For ships in PvP, players care less about the console on a C-store ship and more about the bridge officer/console layouts, turn rate/inertia, and shield/hull mods. C-store consoles are meant to be viable alternative options, but not superior options opposed to existing "free" items.

I'm not complaining, I'm defending the reason that I dislike Caitians. The +10% dodge is imbalanced when we are talking about Ground PvP. Now Ground PvE, the NPCs don't fire often enough to reap the full effects. Much of PvE is about simply breaking line of sight when needed and healing though the damage.

For 600 zen unlocks you have Caitians, Ferasans, Federation Klingons, and Joined Trill. (Remans perhaps, but most have Tier V New Romulus already) Klingons actually deal 5% more raw damage than any other race. Joined Trill get about a 2% overall science ability effectiveness boost in space, but their trait is overshadowed by inspirational leader. The majority of Klingons are within the Klingon faction and the majority of Trills aren't Joined Trills due to a limited supply of symbiotes. The cats are in the C-store presumably because they were very rarely shown throughout the franchise. Ferengi and Rigelians were also in the C-store in the distant past as I understand. Of the four C-store races, Caitians are the only race with a trait that boosts dodge. Yes it's a nice stat, but nobody can look at that stat and say it isn't more powerful than the other races, even the other C-store races for that matter. There is still a healthy number of Ferasans in the game, despite the lack of dodge. The Jump Height and Pounce trait are both powerful and appealing characteristics. +10% dodge is just extra icing on the cake.

Jumping indeed is the best part! I myself am always on the lookout for places to climb. Spend an hour with 3 other Engikitties, and use your covershield ladder to climb all the way to the top of the Comm Tower on Defera. Or maybe climb to the top of that Bird of Prey overlooking the Staging Area. Or just go to New Romulus and go mountain climbing. Why?

    1. Because the Comm Tower is there. It is just begging to be scaled. :)
    2. Because pushing the limits of how high you can ladder your covershields is amazingly entertaining. :D
    3. Because climbing everything is good fun! :D

Every time your are hit, your character rolls a "dodge" based on your dodge chance. All characters, by default, have a 0% base dodge chance. Say an incoming attack is supposed to deal 100 damage, you roll a dodge, that attack is now 50 damage before it even gets applied to your shield or health damage resistance.

There are a few things that add to dodge chance, the caitian racial trait (+10%), the gambling device (+10%), the Omega Force Shield (29.1%), the Omega Force Team Ambush Field (+14.5% to self + team), the Shattering Harmonics Shield (+29.1%), and the Shattering Harmonics 3 Piece bonus ability (+20% dodge for 20 seconds). Stances also increase dodge chance. Crouching (default key C) adds +50% dodge with the price of making you stationary. Running adds +75% dodge and +50% runspeed at the price of being unable to attack. Rolling adds +100% dodge chance and +25% avoidance chance at the price of completely disabling your character for the 2.5 second effect. There is one other stance, Aim (default key X), which increases your ranged damage by 33% while decreasing your runspeed by 25%.

I clicked your signature and I stumbled upon your recent Infected Ground Elite Video. I noticed you asked a couple of questions throughout the video about various abilities. You were using Fire Team MK XII, which means you have Plasma Grenade IV, Ambush III, Battle Strategies III, Suppression Fire III, and Motion Accelerator II. You also have your standard five captain abilities (Target Optics, Strike Team, Fire On My Mark, Tactical Initiative, and Security Escort).

Target Optics is a major 15 second damage buff, equivalent of Attack Pattern Alpha is space. Battle Strategies is a average damage buff (23%) with the secondary effect of removing any tactical debuffs. This buff can be given to teamates within range by clicking on one before activating the ability. Ambush is a massive single attack buff. The attack used after activating ambush will be increased by 150% and it stacks with other tactical buffs, such as Target Optics. Interestingly enough, throwing your plasma grenade after using ambush does not burn the ambush buff. This means that you can fire off your tactical buffs, throw a super buffed plasma grenade, and then follow up with a secondary attack from a split beam rifle, sniper rifle, compression pistol, or pulsewave assault weapon.

Suppressing Fire and Fire On My Mark are both damage resistance debuffs. Suppressing Fire has a very short cooldown and it may maintain a 100% uptime when under tactical initiative. What it does is it decreases the damage resistance of the target hit by your weapon attacks and it has a chance to root the target, making it impossible for that target to move. Decreasing the damage resistance of a target makes the target die faster. Fire On My Mark applies a large damage resistance debuff to a target. This ability is best saved for Heavy Tactical Drones or stronger, as it is typically a waste to use on lesser borg

Strike Team and Tactical Initiative are both team wide buffs. Strike Team increases your team's critical hit chance/damage as well as your team's overall damage for a full minute. Tactical Initiative decreases your entire team's cooldowns on all abilities by up to 75% for 20 seconds. Lastly there is security escort, which is pretty self explanatory, it beams down two redshirts to draw enemy fire.

Oh, one other thing, if you can get a complete ground set, you will get a integral remodulator, which instantly remodulates your weapons upon activation. It saves a lot of time over the old 4 second charge up version. Well, I hope that helps, best wishes.

So grab a gambling device then, problem solved? Most of us cats I will bet do not use the device at all (and people that use tribble buffs can't use the gambling device at the same time), so if you're really so upset about that 10% chance, use the gambling device and then de-equip it and put your other item back in. You're now on the same level as the cats.

Almost everyone in Ground PvP uses a gambling device, especially if they are a tactical officer. The +10% Critical chance on the gambling device alone gives enough reason to use it.

Tribbles and the Gambling device may be activated and then removed. The buff lasts for 1 hour, thus you really don't need to keep it slotted in a device slot.

Yeah. That is not fun at all.... Just enjoy being able to do that while you still can. My body is in nowhere near condition to be running, much less while carrying anything. But when my 7 year old daughter wants me to to play with her, or to run with her hanging on my back, I somehow don't have the ability to say "No" to the little angel. At times, I think I may need an oxygen tank, but at least she is worth the trouble, because I love her far more than I hate being in pain.

That's the United Corporation of Interplanetary Llamas, Inc., you silly.

And I don't head the UCIPL, Inc. I am just in good favor with them.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

United corporation meh, who cares. We all know the only one the public cares for is the National Bank of Zira.

Today has been a day of frustration.

First off, my boss decided to treat me like a 16 year old instead of the 31 year old disabled war vet I am. So that put me into a sour mood.

Then I find out Microsoft is giving away entire Xbox One console packs.

I'm frustrated in this giveaway only in the context of my personal life. I made the tough choice to forgo the purchase of an Xbox One (cancelled a preorder last week I made ten minutes after they went live) in order to cover an unexpected, yet necessary medical expense for my wife. I love Xbox, but I love my wife more.

Then I find out about this giveaway and I thought it was cool. If it was given to hardcore gamers and Xbox evangelists, I would never have said a word.

The only problem is I found out about it from a guy who got a free Xbox One who had no intention of ever getting one. He probably read the email from Microsoft while holding his PS4 pre-order reciept in his hand. So this guy is more than likely going to put it on eBay the moment it arrives while people like me, who made the painstaking decision to not purchase one to keep and use, get to watch him do it.

No good deed goes unpunished indeed.

I'm not expecting any sympathy. I made my decision to cancel and I will stand buy it. But, seriously, this is the equivalent of not buying an expensive car only for it to be given to someone who doesn't drive.

Then, on my way home, American Pie lasted almost 1/3 of my commute and a song I love started up as soon as I was within viewing distanve of my house.

Well, if you believe in karmic retribution there will be a very good day soon.

Why are llamas written with double L? I do believe Voporak has more to do with alligators than he has to do with llamas though...

Advertisement: Canelow has acquired a Solanae prison cell for her evil half-Iconian/half-Ferasan criminal experiments and she's taking requests for test subjects. Pay is good but you may end up with more or less limbs than you had before and other health problems of a wider variety are not unheard of. If you die during those experiments the rest of your family and bridge officers will also be killed and all possessions will be seized.
