Harper: thank you admiral. I'll read it there. As well as some of the scientific files about this place. Now I better let you get back to doing your job admiral should you need anything I'll be in my quarters.
Hammond: Thank you, Admiral. I will keep that in mind.
R.S.S. Anne, this is R.S.S. Hood! Your vessel is stolen property of the Republic Naval Forces and Republic of United Star Systems, Pegasus Provincial Government! You will stand down and surrender your vessel or we will seize it by force! You have 10 minutes!
Don't test me. You will fail.

XO: Captain...
*Lochley turns her head slightly to acknowledge him.*
Remind me never to TRIBBLE you off.
Lochley: Before we raise shields, I want you to transfer Miss Forrester to the Zhiyal.
XO: I'll take care of it.
*2 minutes later, Tara has been beamed aboard the Zhiyal and the Zhiyal moves away from the standoff as the Hood raises shields and locks weapons on the Anne.*

Blackbeard: No you may not have the ship back. It will be a reminder of what you have done to the people who resided here, and freedom from Governments that don't take people to heart or their tools.
Come after me and the people not under your yolk will rise as will Outer Heaven.
*The ship turns and lets off a disrupter burst scrambling the Hood's sensors and targeting.. and leaves through Fold space..*

Kenway: Nor will they. Stupid...
Ade: Did we lose our pay?
Kenway: No that I made sure to spend.

Lochley: I was XO on the Anne before I was assigned here. I had a lot of friends still on board when she went missing.
Besides, for 25 years, our biggest advantage over pirates was our technology. Now, we can't keep them from closing the gap.
Remind me to contact Administrator Hall on Pegasus Prime. Helm, get us as far away from here as possible.
Helm: Aye, sir.
*The Hood soon begins to jump to warp when its drive stalls.*
What the hell?
Lochley *sarcasm*: Did you remember to take off the handbrake?
Helm: I don't understand what's--
Ops: Sir, Orion Raider on our port nacelle!
XO: That explains it. Temperature and plasma imbalance.
Lochley: Why are we only seeing it now?!
Ops: They were cloaked!
Sir, they're powering up their warp engines!
Lochley: Lock a tractor beam on them!
Ops: Too late, sir. They're gone.
Report from sickbay sir. Tr'ian's been beamed out.
*Cariman, somewhere near the Forman-Calen Border, 2 hours ago. A man in casual clothes is being chased through the forest by armed soldiers. He reaches a wire fence, jumping up onto it and starting to climb it. A pair of soldiers on the other side see the gathering of soldiers approaching the fence and grab their radioes. The man clambers over the barbed wire and falls to the ground, his trousers torn with bloody cuts as he starts running into the forest. One of the two soldiers sees him and raises his weapon on him.*
Soldier: Halt!
*He takes his NV kit off and turns on his flashlight as the man in question stops, raising his arms above his head. He takes note of the man's slightly darker skin and the square-cut clothing.*
You are Calen?
Man: I request sanctuary.
*The soldier turns back to his compatriot.*
Soldier: Contact the sentry post.
*Present time. John and Colonel Harrison are meeting the man at the Forman sentry post along the border. A Republic medic is running a dermal regenerator over his wounds.*
Man: My name is Sernar Kilarn.
Forman Lieutenant Colonel: As in Senator Sernar Kilarn?
Man: Yes.
*The FLC turns to John.*
FLC: He's part of the Calen Patriots' Council, the Federation's ruling body.
John: What are you doing here?
Sen. Kilarn: My only other option was to stand by as the Federation started a global conflict.
They're going to fire the weapon station, directly on the Central Estate.
FLC: I shouldn't think that'll matter mu--
John: Colonel...
Sen. Kilarn: You don't understand. My people know that the RUSS has given you shielding technology. They're launching a full-scale offensive on the coastal emitters... in two days.
*John looks at Harrison, gravely.*
John: If they take out the coastal emitters...
Harrison: Then the capital will be vulnerable to a strike...
But... the capital should be covered by the inland grid from the weapon's path.
Sen. Kilarn: They're changing the satellite's orbital path to bring it over the coast to coincide with the attack.
But the Chairman's plan hinges directly on the satellite being able to fire when the shield fails.
John: So, if he can't use the satellite, your leader will call off the attack?
Sen. Kilarn: I don't know, but if it looks like the war can not be won without heavy losses, the Council may overrule him.
FLC: What are the exact plans for the attack?
Sen. Kilarn: I don't know. I only know that preparations are almost complete. The plans won't be released until 12 hours before the attack begins, by which time it would be too late!
FLC: The Calen Federation knows that if they attacked the Forman States, it would mean a thermo-nuclear retaliatory strike!
*Kilarn doesn't speak, but shuffles uneasily.*
John: There's more, isn't there?
Sen. Kilarn: The laser will also be in position to hit 3 of the ICBM silos in the Carinoso peninsula, and there have been increased drills in our IRBM sites along the Calari Coastline, with in emphasis on precision timing. They've been targeting your ICBM sites.
FLC: They'll destroy our missile silos before we can react.
John: Don't you have coastal nuclear assets?
Sen. Kilarn: There has been a ban on submarine warfare for 30 years... and we know where their carrier groups are.
We can destroy them quickly before they even know we're there.
John: How?
Sen. Kilarn: We were approached, one year ago, by a Union of aliens, like yourselves. They offered us the means to deter any military action from the UFS and Cargan Alliance.
John: The satellite.
Sen. Kilarn: As time went on, they began to encourage us to prepare for war. They gave us energy shields, magnetic propulsion weaponry, lasers, ion drive, nuclear fusion power...
We have 3 squadrons of thermo-nuclear-powered bombers capable of extra-atmospheric hops ready to hit the Forman Carrier Groups in the Torin Sea, West Kalanic Ocean and Cargan Coast. Our fleets are ready to launch a full-scale assault on the Forman fleets between us and them.
We also have been massing armoured regiments and motorised battalions along the land border, armed with high-intensity IR weaponry.
*Meanwhile, outside, Varnak and Targas are listening to the conversation.*
Targas: My people are not ready for an attack on this scale...
Varnak: I assume that these warships have some sort of rudimentary computer programing? At least something to control their strikes?
Targas: Calen military discipline is incredibly effective. They wouldn't need computer control, even if they were capable of it. Their operation revolves around us not being able to react to their attack before the satellite can destroy Central House.

Varnak: If they are operating a fleet that size their effectiveness requires communications and electronics of any sort to use a strike such as that. We could hack into it and given the systems it wouldn't matter much anything using a signal that can receive it can be shut off permanently if need be. If they wanted that they would need to use some sort of computer interface to fire the weapons.

*John walks over having overheard the conversation.*
John: Commander, these aren't starships we're talking about. Railguns don't use complex computer targeting; they use gunners.
The fleets are probably separated into battle groups, like Old Earth Navies.
Targas, you need to prepare your forces along the coast.
Targas: There isn't time.
John: If we're lucky, you won't need them.
The Discovery is still 3 days away, so we'll have to play diplomat until they arrive. Commander, how do you feel about a trip to the Calen Federation?
*Lochley is looking out the window. She turns to face Dani.*
I wanted to tell you that I was impressed by your performance on the Orion ship. In fact, I decided to take an in-depth look at your record.
*She picks up a PADD.*
A citation from Captain Terry Allen, multiple comments from Captain Drake regarding your enthusiasm, and 5 separate citations from the Starfleet Academy training instructors from the U.S.S. Republic, 2 from Lieutenant O'Connor...
You've impressed a lot of people, cadet. I haven't seen this many citations in an ensign.
In fact, your CQC instructor and Prof Har'kol at the Naval Academy both recommended you for the fast-track program, but you refused. Why? You could have earned a commission after your third year.
Dani: Permission to speak freely?
Lochley: I don't bite, cadet.
Dani: I didn't want special treatment. If I aced my exams, then I aced them - no need to skip them.
Lochley: But most of those exams you already completed in your second year. In fact, aside from your final CQC assessment, you've completed the level of training that advanced track cadets do. You could be a Lieutenant JG by now.
Dani: Like I said, I wanted to be held to the same standard as my fellow students.
Lochley: Danielle... can I call you Danielle?
*Dani nods.*
The Fast-Track program is there to push you even further than the standard course. I know what the problem really was - I had it too.
You were afraid you wouldn't be seen as having what it took to complete all 4 years of your training.
Well, I don't think you can learn anything at the Academy that you haven't in the field and you have completed most - if not all - your courses. I've submitted a recommendation to Command that you receive a full commission to Lieutenant Junior Grade, with all the responsibility and privileges that entails.
Dani: Than... thank you, sir.
Lochley: I've also received a reply... from your father.
'Captain Lochley,
I just heard about your recommendation regarding my daughter, Danielle Forrester. I'm sure you've heard by now, but Command has accepted your recommendation.
I am writing to request that you ask Captain Drake to pass along to her the following transfer request.'
*Lochley taps a key and hands the PADD to Dani.*
Dani *surprise*: 'Senior Security Officer position... United Star Ship Enterprise NCC 1701-Juliett'?
Lochley: The Federation has invited Republic, Romulan and Klingon officers to join the ship's complement, but you're the only one who's a Department Head. Captain Allen requested you personally.
So, what do you say, lieutenant?
Dani: When do I leave?
Lochley: Get your things from the Zhiyal in 6 hours. We'll be fold-jumping to Pegasus Prime after that. A Cortez-Class Frigate will meet you on the other side of the Gateway to take you to the Enterprise. You'll be there by tomorrow morning.
Anything else?
Dani: No, sir.
Lochley: Dismissed.
*Dani turns to leave.*
And Lieutenant...
*She turns back.*
Congratulations.
*Dani smiles before nodding back.
30 minutes later. S.S. Tora Zhiyal, Sickbay. Tara is sitting on a bio-bed, mostly healed.*
Tara: That's great, Dani.
Dani: I don't feel comfortable leaving you again.
Tara: I can look after myself, Dani. You saw me in action.
Dani: I know. That's what worries me.
Tara: Dani, just go. We'll keep in touch this time, I promise.
*Dani holds Tara's hand.*
Dani: I love you, sis.
*The two hug.*
Tara: Next time we see each other, we should spar.
Dani: No, we really shouldn't. I don't want to smash your pride.
Tara: You're on.
*The two smile as they let go, Dani standing up to leave.*
Dani: Take care of yourself, T. And make sure Luke does the same. You two are cute together.
*She walks out and heads to the transporter room. Drake already had her things sent to the Hood and she didn't want to waste time. She's said her goodbyes.
10 minutes later, the Hood departs with her aboard, fold-jumping to Pegasus Prime.
6 hours later, the Cortez-Class Frigate arrives alongside the U.S.S. Enterprise-J.
U.S.S. Enterprise-J, Transporter Room 5. Dani beams aboard while Terry is by the transporter pad. She is wearing a Navy Blue jumpsuit with gold highlights on the shoulders. Her rank sleeves on her shoulders show 1 solid silver bar and one hollow silver bar pinned on them. Her left sleeve bares a mission patch with an image of the Enterprise and the starfleet chevron beneath it. Dani smiles at Terry.*
Dani: Lieutenant Junior Grade Dani Forrester, reporting as ordered.
Officer : sir transmission coming through priority alert.
Hood: on screen
Captain: we have been attacked by hostile forces I repeat we have been attacked by hostile forces and
Hood: covenant
Captain: negative not covenant not anything we've seen before we tried to out run them but oh god there here again. There is only is and the Lincoln left. And they just destroyed the Lincoln !! And now they........ Static.......
Hood: turn of the viewer. All ships we are going in to try and search for survivors. All ships full combat alert I want all weapons online.
Officer: aye sir. Sir we will reach there position in one hour or less.
Hood: well let's get to it people.
" Now the gate has been unlatched headstones pushed aside; corpses shift and offer room ,a fate you must abide."
*Cariman, Calen Federal Airspace. John and Varnak are on a jet-powered passenger plane headed for the Calen Capital. John looks out the window at the wing.*
John: I always wondered what it would feel like to fly on a jet-liner.
OOC: Honestly, man, he's your character. I don't mind and, personally, I think it's a good idea.
Good lol I have a few ideas for him and bishop in the coming war. Should be fun. Any way I'll bring firefly in later. I need to get a nap in before work. Be back in two hours or so.

Not now Wade.

Terry: You were thinking it.
Wade: Sheesh nothing gets past you.

John: You can't jam targeting computers that don't exist. Besides, aren't you Federation types usually the ones discouraging getting involved in an internal conflict?
*John smirks.*
The best way to do it would be an EMP, but the only way for the Forman to do it would be with a nuclear warhead and if we did it, we'd be responsible for any deaths that occurred when aircraft went out of control.

Permission to come aboard, Captain?

John: I always wondered what it would feel like to fly on a jet-liner.

Good lol I have a few ideas for him and bishop in the coming war. Should be fun. Any way I'll bring firefly in later. I need to get a nap in before work. Be back in two hours or so.
Varnak: Fascinating
*Terry smirks*
Terry: Permission has been granted. Welcome aboard Lieutenant. The senior crew you already know. The ground teams you also briefly know...
*Wade is about to say something...*
Not now Wade.
Wade: What? I wasn't going to say anything..
Terry: You were thinking it.
Wade: Sheesh nothing gets past you.
Terry: Alright back to your stations everyone.
Wade: Gonna be hard to find her room given the refugees Captain...
Terry: I am well aware of that.. Not like there is anywhere to put them right now. I do wonder Lt. anywhere nearby that we can drop them off?
Varnak: I am well aware of Terran 20th century... expect security... What I was explaining earlier was that it may not be complex but it should do enough to buy at least a day as in reversing its course until they realize the problem.
Talking's the best way to deal with this.

Varnak: Romulan training speaking sir.
Terry: We are short a helmsman but with the new navigation control you will be overseeing our courses and part of the ground teams when I deem it right.
Dani: But, the transfer orders said I was to be assigned to security. *She passes him the PADD with the transfer orders on it.*

Terry: That is true too. We are short staffed still considering the workforce shortage. I will find a helmsman elsewhere. LT. You may report to the bridge.
