Launcher not Launching

Recently I have tried to log into STO, and as soon as I click the client for it, I get a "client autoupdate" message and the client doesn't load.

Normally, the "autoupdate" last no more then a few seconds, 5 if that many, but this time it is up for a full minute before I get an error and can't continue.

Bottomline, as things stand I can't play STO. at all. Is this a problem on cryptics end? with my internet? I know I was able to play earlier today, it was just this afternoon that this started. Do I need to remove and reinstall the client?

I am just curious what, if anything I can do it get this fix and start playing the game again.

    I am having the same problem. It was fine last night and this afternoon will not launch.

    Same here. I get a patcher error saying "The patchclient got a message while it was in a state with no response function."

    If I just load the game client executable (bypassing the launcher) then I get to the login screen, then when it tries to connect to the account server it just sits there for a minute then tells me it timed out.

    I was online and playing when my game just froze up, so I alt-f4'd it to login again and try to unfreeze it, and that's when this started.

    Same thing here ~ also tried launching the game client and got the timeout on attempting to log in...

    Was working fine when I went to bed...

    I am having the same problem and got the standard 'sorry try restarting your computer' reply from Support.

    I was on this morning and now cannot get on at all. I hope they fix this soon.

    yeah, it has been over four hours now... I am getting kinda ticked off.

    I was playing. logged off, had lunch, and when I tried to log back on I got this error.
    That was many hours ago now.


    EDIT: error message is:
    "Unable to establish connection with patch server. Please check your internet connection."

    Obviously my internet connection is just fine, because you are reading this.

    Same error. Tried a tracert and a few pings...looks like there are some servers down or messed up. My tracert and my pings would average 52ms then jump to 3k or time out entirely. Everything else (Age of conan, Fallen Earth etc) connect fine.

    yeah, there has to be a problem. I sent a link to this thread to support on my ticket so hopefully I will get to play in the next couple of days.

    I know a couple people that can get on and play. For those who can't are getting the same message so there for its on criptics end not ours. i say shut all servers down for 10 mins after saying they are going to do it then turn them back on to reset fresh programming.

    Looks like I'm a member of this club to. Looks like a new issue. I wonder how long this will last? Anyone know anything?

    On the plus side all my Doff Missions will have finished by the time I can log back in ~ good chance to clean out the Doff rosters :)

    Having searched the Forums it is suggested that updating the launcher exe may solve the problem ~ would require someone with a working login to post it to a spot where we can download it to try ~ anyone with a friend able to log able to set this up?

    This is NOT a new issue. It has been around for a long time. And the thing that people do to fix it for god knows how long is to get someone else who can actually play STO and hasn't had this error to post their Star Trek Online launcher .exe online for others to download. Now that's what we need someone to do and do it immediately. I wanted to play STO now. And you know what? This problems happens for Champions Online as well so it's Cryptic's problem they need to fix it. :mad:

    Yeah if you have the exe's for both Star Trek Online and Champions Online that would be great. I don't use these but you could put the exe's on one of them: Rapidshare or Mediafire or something where we could download them.

    i only have the star trek one but i dnt use media fire or rapid share... im not super tech saavy but im not a total idiot, if this persists and ppl still need it some one can walk me through it,

    id be willing to do this cuz i know how slow cryptic is........

    shouldnt ppl beable to un-install it delete it from thier cpu and re download it? that should get rid of the currupted file shouldnt it?

    If I had to uninstall and redownload STO with the slow connection I got it would take way too long. I am not doing that. Don't know why some of us have the same problem though. I do hope that Cryptic fixes it though because this problem has been annoying as hell whenever it comes back and it is not because of my internet. It's on Cryptic's end.

    OK I deleted the launcher exe that I had in my Star Trek Online folder and put in it's place a launcher exe from my downloads folder that I downloaded a while ago. When I double clicked on it it said that it was trying to update the launcher which was a change I also recognized that which meant the launcher I put in there worked.

    it seems as though this is happening to many people,(im not having this problem btw) you would think cryptic would adress this issue?

    Also got this problem...

    Played yesterday just like normal and tried to login an hour ago and nothing.

    I uninstalled and reinstalled the game with a new downloaded file but after install the same thing is happening.

    I got a response on my ticket relating to this issue. They said that some other people seem to be having this problem, but I should try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I haven't tried that yet, as I figure with so many people having the same issue, the problem is not on my end, it's Cryptic's end. So now just gotta keep waiting I guess...

    reinstalling the game does not help anything i tried this now 2 times.

    Neither another PC helps cause i tried it on my laptop and my neighbours PC and still i get the error.
