Crew Uniforms

Myself and my fleet have been discussing this in quite some depth recently, and I thought I would make a post here to see how the community felt as well.

I love being able to choose my uniform, and choose my boff's uniform, but it bothers me that I can't do the same for my crew who wonder aimlessly about the decks of my ship! I think it would be hugely beneficial for us to be able to customize the standard uniform for THE WHOLE crew.

It could be separated easily into Engineering, Tactical, and Science colours, and then the computer does the rest, and decides which bots are which career! Simple considering it already does this, but now your crew will actually feel a lot more like your own crew?

My fleet are starting to do voice RP on board each others ships, and we're trying to use as much of the ship as possible, but it puts a huge dampener on the spirit of it when you walk around in your TNG Movie uniform and the crew walking about is stuck in the Antares 1.

Give us a bit more customization! We would all love it!!! :)

Would love a feature like this as well as i'm sure many many others. This way you could have full temporally displaced ships in TOS or ENT uniforms, as well as maybe an entire ships of Section 31.

i agree, been waiting for this feature for a while now. it annoys me that me and my boff's don't match the rest of the crew. doesn't give me the impression that its my ship. makes me feel very detached from it. its one of the reasons i dont use my interior at all. im happy to transition from space to ground because my boff's match me but the ship interior just seems so badly out of place because of the lack of the uniformity. i would also love it if security escort beamed down either in my uniform or at least some sort of neutral uniform like the omega or maco set. that would be awesome. even the mercenary set would be better

I made a post to this effect the other day, and obviously, I totally agree with you! I'm sure it can't be that hard to include some kind of generic crew uniform slot in the tailor screen.

Whilst I can see people wanting this (heck, it makes sense right) what if you're one of the people who has all of their bridge officers wearing different attires? From which is the rest of the crew suppose to follow?

My assumption is that you would have the ability to leave it the way it is now; randomly generated.

Basically, I think what you're advocating is that you mandate certain pieces of the uniform be the same, with the computer to randomly assign the rest. Which would be AWESOME. Don't forget, though, you'd have to make two sections; male and female.

Considering you have a slot for each member of your bridge crew. Opening 3 to 6 new slots for your generic crew should be possible. I figure if they get enough requests it will become a buyable augment pack.
Then you can use any of the costume pieces you have bought on your regular crew.

I would love to see this. This could be part of an interior revamp where we get to customize our ships interior as well as the crew.

We've been asking for this from when ship interiors were introduced. So far, all we've gotten was that it's on the list of things they plan to get to "eventually."

So I expect it to get implemented around the 6th anniversary, if the game is still around then.

Agreed, I hate going through my ship, even being on my bridge, and only seeing my Bridge Officers in my chosen uniform. THe whole crew should match.

YOu mean turn off the visuals?

YOu CAN do that for your BOFF's. Same exact way you do it for yourself.

    glad you all agree.

Yeah im sure it is on their list, I just think that stuff like that that could be simple to implement could be introduced first than the multitude of other things if you know what I mean?
Obviously im no coder/computer designer kinda bod, and i absolutely love the game and everything I can currently do it in, but thought it would be fitting to see the response on the forums :)

Totally agree with you. I'd love to be able to customise my crews uniforms and maybe in the near future a customiseable ship interior like the hallways and engineering rooms, transporter rooms etc. But i have the new Ody and i'd also love a complete interior for it like the TOS or the Belfast.

Can you help me, because in the tailor it asks you if you want to and you say yes, if i mess with the BOFF it doesn't give me that opition so where is the opition located? Give me a break i been playing for maybe three weeks.

Press 'K' then click on the BOFF you want to change.. once on their Status screen Right-click their body armor then Left-click 'disable visuals' (BTW.. you can also do this for Deflector / Shield / Engine effects for your Ship at that Status screen as well)

    Hope that helps,
    Peace,
    Joel

For me, and it could be a thing where I have the WoK outfits with an open and closed variant, I'd want to see 12 outfit slots for my "random crew", in which I can design 2 variants for each class (so 2 tac outfits, 2 sci outfits, 2 engie outfits) that can be done in male and female variants (so I can skirt my medical staff's ladies but pant my female scientists)...

Same with my ToS outfits, I found that the medical shirts done up in Tac / Command colors make an interesting "worker" variant, my chief engie runs around in a medical shirt, and the bare forearms makes him look like he actually works on the ship... :P

Would be nice, although I have it setup in a manner in which I assume only the senior officers wear the set uniform (in this case the 'All Good Things' set). Not a bridge/senior officer = generic uniform in my eyes.

im no computer programmer or anything but i would have thought that full crew uniform customisation was reasonably easy to do considering the customisation tools and everything is there. all you really need to do is connect a generic crew uniform created in the tailor and connect it to the random npc's in wandering. hell if they really wanted to make it easy on themselves they could simply allow us to design say 10 different characters who walk around the ship at random. after all their isnt that many different fed npc's anyway. so we could literally design everything just like a regular boff. it would be the equivalent of our boffs just walking around the ship making it look like their working similar to what they do on the bridge

It probably isn't a simple "just dump this in". I had originally thought that when I saved a uniform/outfit in the tailor I could load it as a template for other officers. While this is true, it loads everything instead of just the uniform portion, making clones. If the clothing was somehow separated, perhaps than we could just cut-and-paste a style to our generic crewmen.

This is something that has been requested many times and is something I really want to happen. The devs have just said that it's on their todo list. The only matching crew member uniforms is for the TOS Connie interior if you are wearing your TOS uniform.

i think the easiest way to do would be literally allow you do customise 10 crewman from scratch and these 10 crewmen simply walk around the ship with a couple of clones of each other. as long as you design quite generic plain faced characters you wouldn't really notice. not to mention you could have an all female/male/human/klingon etc crew. this would very nice for RP especially. what about an all human terran empire crew or an all orion ship or for those that just want it (you know who you are) an all sexy affied female crew.

Thing is when looking around starbases and ship interiors and stuff, its really just the same couple dozen stock extras over and over again, that redheaded female ensign or Vulcan security officer, and there aren't any of the really freaky looking people you'd get from using the Random button. That makes me think that, rather than being procedurally generated, there's some stock character database somewhere that all the extras are drawn from. As such customizing our crew would mean creating a new procedure-generation setup, and keeping seperate databases of uniforms for each player-captain. Its a lot more than just tweaking an existing database, since it would be changing the How of extra creation.

I agree being able to tune my crew would be awesome, make it more My Ship. But people have been asking for a while and it hasn't changed, which makes me think it isn't something easy to change. Of course someone in the know could show me to be a complete idiot and wrong, but wouldn't be the first time. ;)

All you would need to do is add another Tailor option for your ship. You set the standard uniform for Engineers, Tactical, and Sciences.

what im saying is the technology is already there and its a matter of putting it together, yes a new database will be needed or even an expanded boff one but its doable and would be an instant hit

We just need three new options at the tailor to create eng, sci and tac uniform layouts for our generic ship crew.

I just want to throw my support for this feature in here. Now that I am spending more time in my ships interior, I find myself walking around like a crazy person yelling at my crew to "GET IN UNIFORM SAILOR!!" every 2 seconds. It begs the question as a starship captain, if I am really in charge of my ship and crew.
