My Fed main: "... good kill, Ambassador."
He tussles good, but I'm also thankful I can heal/revive him. ;)
The aforementioned main, being an Engineer, had most of his abilities locked out during the escape. He was most grateful for the continued assistance.

They needed a badass to do the ground portion of the mission... can't get any more than that with a Gorn...

to have jeghpu' wI the likes of a gorn to stand for the Klingon Empire is outrageous. we demand it be replaced with a honorable soldier of the Empire

I sorta have to agree based on what I've seen. S'taass is a complete 180 on his character. You can probably argue the fact that S'taass was putting on a face... but the dialogue just doesn't seem like it fits at all..

Hey dont get me wrong, I'm a new player and I'm loving STO. But just because you love a game or franchise... doesn't mean you can excuse sloppy and messy writing ;)

That said... isn't S'taass available as a Fed DOFF?

No one's gonna argue with you for being a new player :^D

If they do, send'em my way.

But you're right. I'm not unhappy with it being S'taass at the meeting, but rather that he doesn not act the way he should and the way the game has established he should. If we can't have continuity with the NPCs why even bother to name them!

The Gorn will have their independence one day and when they do the Klingon empire will be sorry they ever set foot in Gorn territory!

Just you wait ridge head, the day will dawn when the Gorn stand triumphant over the smoldering ashes of your pit of a city!

the gorn hegenomy was defeated, else why would they now be part of the Empire? were I Chancellor, they gorn would not serve on warships of the Empire, for the very reason that they are jeghpu' wI, as are the orions

I do believe it could have been overcome if the wording of his dialouge was better written to display him as a representitive of the EMpire instead of giving him the lines a full Klingon warrior.

for example, " As a representative of the Gorn hegemonay , vassals of teh Mighty Klingon Empire, I agree with our allies that it is not the federations place to dictate the how and why of things........."

Such a dialouge idea would have betetr suited me.

Toss in that when we responded to him (or at least my KDF characters) ... The whole thing sounded like I was representing someone else and not the Empire ... Like I was an lowly Fed or something.

You forget that we look into the heart of the warrior to see their true worth.

An additional ... I felt the missed out by not having a representative of the Honor Guard present as they are suppose to be willing to work. (Unless the story is that group comes from these discussions.

The fact that he can leap that far just means that the blade of my bat'leth digs that much deeper into him.

Isn't a Gorn's skin kind of tough seeing as a diamond shot out of a home made canon only winged the Gorn captain from Arena?

the whole diplomatic thing was silly... for feds and klinks... both sidesw got treated like a toddler by people who are obviously not the best choices to be doing anything diplomatic... and why only have ambassodores from the Deferi, Cards and Klinks, that makes no sense. there's other powers and aside from the klinks, those "powers" have little to offer...

The last time I conversed with a Gorn it was at the Creation con in Chicago, And it was myself and several other Klingons discussing how it would taste roasted over a fire. S'taass was not a good choice.

There are 3 different federation representatives at the table: A Human, an Andorian, and a Tellarite. It would perhaps have been nice to have another Klingon representative at the table. All in all though, lets take a step back and look at the mission. It had a few bugs, and I did get a little annoyed the overweight lizard had the gall to tell my Lieutenant General KLINGON anything. Especially when he got uppity about the espionage missions, I was thinking this guy should be careful who he threatens. I might not be allowed to kill him, but roughing the lizard up is not out of the question. That being said I don't entirely mind the incorporation of the Gorn, Orion, and Lethean vassals into it. I think of it more as a rebirth of Klingon society, and a representation of their evolution as a culture after exposure to the Federation for so long. In essence, they have copied the federation but in their own image, with perhaps more like minded species and cultures.

I love the incorporation of a duty officer mission within an actual mission... that part was fantastic. I love the cut scenes, though I DESPERATELY wish that you could skip past them. I have too many characters. Just repeating cut scenes will take hours of my life away alone, and after you've seen them five or six times do you really need to see them again? This is one feature that they should copy from SWTOR. In fact, another feature, Dialogue Voting, was a great copycat move on Cryptics part here. It just needs refinement but I wish them the best on that.

As far as Staass goes, he's okay being at the table but I agree I would have liked a klingon or two as well. I realize my character could have been that Klingon, but then again I could have been playing one of my Orions or Gorn.

Oh, and referencing above, I did dislike how the Player comes to the mission more or less as an 'outsider'. Shon tells you about the Federation when you're Federation. Staas tells you about the KDF when you're a Klingon. It might be rather difficult to implement, but if a 'If KDF Faction Than' type dialogue tree could have been inserted it would be nice. Granted, this might make things difficult when implementing new factions forward. I say we grow with the growing pains, because I really would like to see this game get a Romulan, Dominion, and possibly a 'Merchant' set of factions.

He's a tour Guide on Quonos, a Doff vendor at the academy and now head of KDF Intelligence. I started a thread on this, I would have preferred another name, bit of creativity instead of rehasing the guide/vendor, doesnt follow suit nor make sense...

I trust you saved the hide. I'm in need of new boots *laffs uproariously*

these allies do not have the heart of a Klingon warrior, or any other kind of warrior for they are jeghpu' wI, and do ntot deserve such consideration from me. by the way, someone tell s'tass the heads on my ship need cleaning *laffs uproariously again*

Did anyone else think S'taass was a bad choice for the Klingon's representative at the talks in the new FE? I found it weird that he had such zealous devotion to the KDF and the Klingon's sense of honor.

I'm with you on this one... it is a terrible offence to any Klingon that really has Blood of Kahless in his blood.

His Dialouge was wrong and misplaced for his charatcer.
Our Responses where wrong and misplaced, sounding like a federation lackey.
Otherwise he was a fine choice and would have worked if his lines where not so ill-prepared.

Exactly! If he behaved like the S'taass we know (or knew) then I wouldn't have had a problem with it...

that overgrown lizard is a cunning old fox, hes not half as stupid as he looks, perhaps the tutorial dialogue was meant to throw off the nice to meeting and greet stage and pretend he hates the klingons in order to make you think that to focus that aggression and anger as a klingon, while all the time he is an official representitive of the empire doing important work and has the backing of the high council to prove it.

I wouldnt be surprised his position becomes so popular that he actually gets a seat on the council for all his harder then nails approach and honoring the empire at all times. if i were slave in an empire that considered honor very important, i would do all i can to prove my worth to these people and show them they i can be more then a slave and that my people have just as much importance, so if i earn that position within their rules, i can then effect change on a bigger scale with some power for my people. for all we know, s'taass is using the klingon honor code as a tool and he knows it, so someday he may even rule the empire.

The cutscenes and dialog in this mission were horrible, no matter which faction you play. Heck, the only part of the mission that was any fun, or believable, in any way, was the final escape from the station. That even lacked the massive fleet that the title of the FE implies.

When they were talking in cutscenes, NPC's seem to have random emotes chained one after another. Leading to them appearing to be high on crack, or they decided to style it after the horribly emphatic acting of The Last Airbender.
A commander sends a starfleet or kdf flag officer on "errands"

The 2nd mission wasn't any better. Basically, this is shaping up to be a dark spot in the FE series history. The first 3 were at least enjoyable, so far this one is lousy...

Plus from what was said up thread it sounds like he's the head of Imperial Intelligence and having read The Final reflection and the I.K.S. Gorkon books I know you have to be careful about trusting those guys Temek and K'men not withstanding.

Well, given that my character is a female Trill whom I'm rollplaying as a freelance privateer, I didn't have much room to complain. My toon just kept nodding her head thinking "when will he get to the Latinum part?"
