Space texture flicker in some instances

Yesterday (after the patch) I've noticed that certain space instances do not display background textures properly. This is mostly the case with nebulas, and from what I've noticed it's not random.

First time I noticed this was during the mission S'harien's Swords (Romulan Front), which I've completed several days ago on a different toon, and didn't experience anything similar. This time, the background nebula textures were flickering and displaying "blocky" textures during camera move. Reported this as a bug in-game.

Today I decided to do some daily missions and I've noticed the same exact issue during one of the Deferi Patrols missions. Here are some screenshots for reference:

The "blocky" textures remain as you can see them above if the camera is still. Upon even a small move they flicker.

I've noticed the same thing in Zaria space zone, a bit to the left from where you warp-in:

The reason I say this must be instance related, or specific texture related, is that I didn't notice anything similar during any other mission I've played (i.e. all space STFs, Sol, Sector Blocks, Eta Eridani Dailys etc. are fine). Yet I'm sure this is related to the 05.01.12 patch, because, as I've said, I did those missions several times before and didn't experience anything similar.

No DX11 is involved (my system does not support it). No video configurations were changed and my graphic card (GeForce GTX 460) drivers are up to date.

Anyone else experienced anything like that? Any solutions, perhaps?

EDIT:
Just to be sure, I've made an additional trip to DS9, as I recalled similar nebulas around, but all's fine there. Then I went back to Deferi Sector and got the same mission as before. Background nebulas flickered again - http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5665/screenshot2012010619433.jpg

This seems to be the case with nebula edges, or places where they transit to normal space.

Good to know. I tend to be a little bit paranoid when it comes to hardware, and since a friend didn't seem to have this issue I was afraid that maybe my GPU was acting up or something...

I can't add anything for the moment aside from the fact that these graphical glitches always occur in the same instances. This Deferi Patrol mission with orange nebulas, where you start with scanning a freighter is a great example.

Same Problem here. I have it on DX9 and the new DX11 mode. Trying a new Version of Graphic Drivers and the problem is still there.

The Patch from today don´t make it better. I have now also some black textures on ground maps.

    System:

    Windows 7 64 Bit
Intel Dual core 8400 3 GHz
with an NVIDIA GeForce 560 GTX

I'm having the same problem after the most recent patch on most space maps and it's really annoying due to how pretty the graphics actually can be in this game!

I hope to see a sollution or patch soon!

System: Windows 64 Bit, 8 GB Ram, Intel Core i5, Ati Radeon HD 5650.

Same issue here, DX11 and DX9 modes, GTX570. Windows 7 64-bit. Basically, any "Nebula" transparent texture that overlays the "background" map.

I turned off DX11 tonight simply because I was in SFA, and I got tired of seeing black doors in the datachip/Doff store building.

I think the game it self only use's DX 9 it does not fully support the DX 11 and i dont see the need for dx 11 there is not that much of a change.Just turn off DX 11 while playing sto.DX 11 is farely new and still has plenty of bugs. And i still don't see much of a change with DX 11 if any thing it makes the game look even worse there are only a few games made that support DX11.STO is not one of them.

I'm having the same issues still.

Also noticed the flicker sometimes in sector space, Namely the T'Bran sector..The texture of the "edge" of the sector map seem to flicker.

But I'm also having issues with planets in some systems.. They are filled with stars..
All of these happend after the recent patch.

I'm having the exact same planet issue. Depending on the distance they look transparent, and if you get closer only then they popup in a weird manner.

Also started after 05.01 patch. Not sure if these two are connected, but I was too lazy to start another thread ;>

Same deal here. With the graphics update I tried out the directx 11 setting since I've got a GTX570, there was flickering and constant crashes to black screens or desktop due to the graphics drivers failing. I switched it back to directx 9 and the nebula flickering has remained since. The game looked fine before the update and is an unsightly mess after. Nice upgrade Cryptic.

So I get a answer from Cryptic for my bug report. They write I should try starting the game on safe mode and try it with the standard graphics. If there is no problem I should raise the graphic step by step to see where the problem is. So I do what they say start the game on "safe mode" and yeah it worked. I can play DX9 and DX11 now without any bugs in the graphics. no flickering no missing textures. Only thing thats funny is I play on the same settings as in normal mode so I dont get what the problem is but as long there is no Problems in safe mode it works for me. Perhaps this can help some off you too.

    I have the same problem in dx9 and dx11. I've got a GTX470.
I noticed that there is a beta driver out from nv which fixes the same problem for BF3. I tried it but it doesn't help for STO :(

We're working on the space background problems. It's actually a problem in some of the ground maps.

are you working on space maps also?
For a few days I can see planets atmospere but not the planet. (many exploration maps)
When I come closer the planet starts to fill itself from inside (like a growing ball inside the big atmosphere ball)
oh and in vulcan system.. I can see the spacestation but no planet at all
    no dx 11
    (can provide screenshots if needed)

It's nice to know Cryptic devs are aware of this, and not blaming the customer's computers like other companies (EA and SOE, to name two).
